Because people would rather not take the chance and lose their stuff. As George Carlin once said, "People love their stuff". They love their stuff far more than they love other people. Also, I don't know if anybody else has noticed... But since all the hackers have started raping everyone, the community has kind of imploded on itself and most EVERYONE has become a self-serving asshole.

tl;dr version: Hackers teleported everyone in the server all at once into a small, prepared building with no exits and killed them for their items (or cause trolling is just so incredibly fun for certain individuals who I personally would describe as "Human Garbage"). So I don't know if this was an isolated incident, or if this has happened to anybody else... But it deserves some attention regardless. Because this thing that happened? It was bad. Like absolutely game-breaking bad. And I don't know if I can continue playing this game with stuff like this happening. A few friends of mine are playing with me on US #00 (NYC 308), just running around Elektro doing the whole Zombie Survival thing. Killing some asshats who started firing at us in the center fire station, trying to go get some supplies from the Hospital. Just playing DayZ like everyone wants to. Suddenly, the game stalls for a moment and my player goes through the strange warping experience that happens when you put on a different camouflage. I then reappear glitched inside of the geometry of a building. I look around, and being glitched inside of the building I am able to see through a couple different walls. I look inside of a nearby building, which is one of those Medium Industrial loot buildings with the 2 large blue doors in the front. The doors are open, and on the inside I can see nearly EVERY PLAYER on the server has been teleported into this building. They stop for a moment, turning around each other, confused about what's happening. Then a small group of players in the corner (who were obviously prepared for the hack because they were behind sandbags and barbed wire) open fire on the crowd. After a brief slaughter, EVERYONE in the building dies except for the bastards in the corner. I attempt to run my character out of the glitched building, and it finally lets me out. I start running towards the inferno of violence that just happened before my eyes with one mission: To fucking kill whoever the hell just ruined ~40 people's games. Before I can avenge a damn thing, two snipers posted on top of the building I was glitched into gun me down, and I'm taken to the oh-so-fucking-wonderful "YOU ARE DEAD" screen, where people are FREAKING OUT over the chat. Moments later after a brief (lol) respawn, the server crashes and my friends and I get the infamous "No Message Received For XX" dialog. I only had, and still have one question: WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED?

I've been seeing a lot of stuff about these so called "Script Kiddies" that are ruining everyone's game, but I'm not seeing a lot of information about what exactly these "scripts" are or what they're doing to our games. From what I'm thinking, it's not just a normal client-side hack addon. Or maybe it is. I really don't know shit about this, and that's why I'm asking. Does anybody understand how this works and how it's so easy to just jack up an entire server like this? Maybe we can start throwing around ideas on how to solve this sudden infestation of hacks. Because maybe we really can't do anything about it, but I'd at least like to look at any options before giving up and trying out that new Mass Effect 3 DLC I begrudgingly downloaded after getting murdered by a thousand missiles from a jet I didn't know existed.

See, I was hoping I wouldn't have to Google it because I would rather get it from some members of the community who I'm sure wouldn't mind explaining what the fuck is happening to our games. If I wanted to figure out how to do it I don't think I would be so stupid as to start a forum post about it :P And... Honestly, discovering how to ruin the fun of 50+ people at once shouldn't be so easy to find >.< But this is the Information Age and all.

This shit is getting pretty intense. I've been reading stories about fights on islands, falling from the skies, A-10 bombing runs, people being turned into goats... I know it's far, far away but I'd really like to see some IP ban capability for server admins up in here. My only concern is that they wouldn't know who was causing the hacks :/

I will say that it was interesting as hell, and my friends and I talked it over and we're not sore over it. It was just kind of... Well, it kind of ruined our fun (obviously). But then again I guess that's the point of "Griefing", huh? I just wish this didn't have to happen to my friend on his very 1st day of playing the game. It's those kind of early experiences that make you not want to play anymore. I also had no idea hackers could just spawn items O.o But I'm not surprised whatsoever. I've just never heard of it in this game yet. Now I have.
