  1. When are we going to be able to find some full bottles of Jack Daniels, and preferably, straight vodka? These drinks could increase your resistance to damage, pain and temperature but sway your aiming, make you burp randomly, and slightly fuzz up your vision. We also need some proper drugs out there, amphetamines etc. There could be an addiction mechanic in there. I can't wait to raid stores and cap people in the ass for my next hit. We also need cigarettes and cigars, maybe a smoke could calm your dude down when he is shrieking away, and a cigar would just put a dumb ass grin on your face. Make it happen!

    This - in this game you have to do your very best to survive from minute to minute, I really don't see why finding a safe place to log out (going to sleep, essentially) should be any different. Being able to disconnect out of almost any dangerous situation is like having a massive safety-blanket comfortingly thrown about your shoulders every step of the way, and it is something that many players are clinging on to like a toddler to his baby blankey. Talk about care-bears, in this game we seem to have genuine scared children running about. I mean come on, all you would need to do under our proposed changes is find a tree line or a bush, go prone/lie down, prepare camp and wait 10 seconds - OR just disconnect and hope no one finds you in the 30-120 seconds your character just lies there (also incredibly unlikely). I understand that people have lives to live and sometimes need to logout from game quickly - if that is the case, they shouldn't be slacking off playing a game like DayZ when they have more important things to do. Find the right time to play the game, and if you have a life, you will realise that this is just a game; every death in game is just a new beginning and nothing to cry too much about. I'm sure your boss or wife isn't going to care that your 10 week old character died from a bandit gunshot whilst you disconnected in the middle of a field to take a call - so why should we, and most of all, why should the makers of this game? What we should be encouraging players to do when they play DayZ is to approach the game as if they are going to survive and essentially "live" in Chernarus for let's say 2-3 hours. You get food, you get shelter, you loot towns and dodge bandits, and at the end of your 3 hours, you take a small amount of time to find a place to camp and go to sleep - ready for tomorrows adventure.

    I still think the disconnect should be 30-120 seconds depending on your recent activity, if they could fix the technical issues that it might entail. You should also be able to find a peaceful area and sit/lie down and camp in 10 seconds when not "flagged" for combat.
  4. Was wondering if, to lessen the amount of horrible trolling that goes on around here on the forums and in game, there should be a real-name section of the forums and real name servers. It could work, since in my experience at least there is less trolling on Facebook from real accounts. At least there could be fixed names, so if I am raptorak here, I MUST be that raptorak that shot you in Cherno, and I can't have changed my name to XxXcodSNipez4beAnzXxX anywhere else. Ultimately, it would be great if this could extend to all BIS administered games. I am aware of the absolute shit-storm such a change could cause, but I don't see why being an ass on the internet should necessarily be completely incognito, and there should also be an option for anonymous servers. What do you all think? I'm guessing terrible idea?
  5. Hackers - a reason why the "stocks" should be reintroduced to the penal system. Rotten tomatoes, 10,000 year old eggs and mouldy cabbage are definitely in order!

    Pending Hotfix: Build 1.7.1.3

    Might I suggest to you Rocket that you spend a couple of days fixing the biggest bugs we have so far to make a somewhat stable 1.8 update - then take a 2 week holiday (if work allows, maybe disappear from forums and public pressure at least) and see what issues come up during that time. Don't burn yourself out is all I'm saying - this game was fun when it started and fiddling around with loot tables won't change that over much. Take a little step away from the game, and you will see what really needs fixing/adding. Maybe make a plan of planned features and when you intend to implement them by. I realise this is Alpha but you are treating it like it has already released with the sheer amount of updates to fix game breaking bugs, as if we deserve daily updates. Your health deserves better. Remember quality over quantity!

    How about we get a choice as to what kind of "survivor" we are. For example a doctor could start with bandages, ephedrine, morphine and skill in transfusion but have no weapons. Geologist could have a map and compass, tourist could have a map and food and water. Soldier could start with a weapon, matches and a compass etc.
  8. I support an autorun button, have often wished there was a way to keep running whilst just using mouse to look around.
  9. First, a lecture. In DayZ, we face many dangers. Zombies, players, cold, hunger, ladders and turning around while prone in a doorway, everything is out to kill you except the little bunny rabbits who we mercilessly harvest for their meat steaks - and even they are fucking scary when they jump out at you. Whenever a player dies, whether it be from zombie or ladder, or even changing skin, no one cries for him. We rush in there and loot whatever is left of his still-warm corpse. There is no place for care-bear casual play in this game; the real world equivalent of a casual gamer is formally known as a pussy. Hardcore gamers and casuals play nearly the same amount of time, but where casuals may be awesome in real life perhaps, they suck at games and usually play sat on the toilet between meetings, whereas the hardcore probably do it whilst walking down the street in traffic. Casual gamers are really just gamers who are put off by hardcore mechanics, because they don't have the gaming balls to deal with dying and *unfair* deaths. When I read the requirements for this game, they are something like as follows: 1. Arma II & Operation Arrowhead 2. DayZ mod 3. Balls Casual gamers don't have balls - they don't meet the requirements for this game, please do not cater for them. And so, if you disconnect, it should take 2 minutes for your body to disappear. It doesn't matter if you lag out legit, press ALT-F4, you lose your connection, your internet company cut you off for not paying your bills, or you spilt beans all over your router. Deal with it, get a better connection, and suck it up. If you disconnect, you remain there for 2 minutes. Log off in a bush, find a hiding place, lie down in the middle of a field and disappear 2 minutes later I don't care. If I had my way it would be 10 minutes. If you die, pick yourself up and carry on. So everyone, please stop being a pussy and say NO to disconnects. That is all. p.s. If you are a casual gamer, please don't be butt-hurt, this is a game on the internet, not real life, and I'm sure you are a fine real person.
  10. Exploiting care-bears in this thread, quit the group hugging and admit you can afford 30 seconds to log out properly. Of course it is your choice as to where you want the game to go from here. I imagine there will be a lot of pressure from your employers and perhaps even console gamers (well, they do say the PS4/Xbox may be out next year) to commercialise the game and it would be entirely understandable if you did. Given the huge success of this mod I am sure it will be difficult to maintain the experimental nature you had intended. Still, as long as exploits like disconnecting exist it really takes away from everything the game has to offer. I have only ever killed 2 players I believe, but have been killed multiple times, and every time I die it is a new beginning. Removal of bandit skins has allowed every player the chance to make each life unique and interesting. In future I hope you will add more and more activities to perform and items to collect, maybe even things to build. But what really needs to go is blatant gamesmanship (disconnect, move to a new location behind target, reconnect) and just sheer bad sport (disconnecting when you've been shot). Think of the reasons given why people hate my idea here so much - I have a life, kids, a job, I am casual gamer etc. I have all those things except kids because I choose not to have them right now, but if I am playing DayZ and my boss calls, or my girlfriend wants me to come look at some silly video with cats in it, and I gotta quickly hide somewhere and hope I'm not dead when I log back on (come on I'm not saying you can't just quit the program) - then sure I may well die, that's the way it goes in a persistent online game. What I would like to see in this game is a system similar to Ultima Online (http://www.uoguide.com/Camping), where you had to make a camp or find an inn to log out in. So in DayZ, there could be specific places that are suitable to "camp" in and won't have the 2 minute "pull the chord" persistent after leaving the game penalty. Seriously, we spend hours and hours building our characters, and huge amounts of time crawling around on our bellies to grab valuable loot - surely everyone can spare a minute to secure a camping spot and log out. Seriously, sometimes it seems like casuals take the game more seriously than I do.
  11. How about having to "camp" out, otherwise your guy stands there for 30 seconds. I mean come on - the missing tears of players using ALT-F4 to avoid death and zombie agro is more than total amount of tears that can be collected from players crying about disconnecting and dying. Rocket, how many delicious tears can you really afford to miss?

  13. Shit happens, right? This is DayZ - but I guess I can't preach to the guy who created it, so you would understand most about what the game means and why you created it. I believe the vision should be to create a game that doesn't crash so often, whether or not that can be achieved in the current engine is something else entirely, and if the game is stable, people shouldn't be protected because their setup isn't. Server's restarting should be called in advance - and if they go down I guess they would just use the current snap-shot they do. To be honest I don't feel comfortable talking about HOW you could implement this, since I just assume that you can :P

    how about KOREAN server?

    I used to play on CNG - there were more than enough players. The admin there was a stupid kid and would hack around with things so no doubt the server got taken down 'cos of that. It is a shame that the whole of the Asian region has been effectively punished because of one stupid admin. Still, hosting a server costs money, I live in China and so can't host here - but if there is a group getting together to make a Korean server I may help out.

    How much would you pay?

    DayZ is a hardcore multiplayer game and as such does not contain the content necessary for an AAA title worth $50. Now don't get me wrong, DayZ has more substance than 1,000 COD clones, but my meaning is that if the game were priced more reasonably, say $20-30, I believe it would be more in the spirit of the indie project that it is. If there were a single player aspect, maybe you could charge $50, but that is such a horrible price to look at. My suggestion would be $30 (the price of combined ops right now on Steam), since that has sold nearly 200,000 copies and rising. Clearly DayZ is worth $30 although you might have seen slightly higher sales at a lower price-point, I believe that price is the sweet spot and you could probably charge 34.99 for a bonafide sequel with awesome graphics as long as all the major quirks are ironed out (zig-zag zombies, awful inv system, melee combat). Please do not ruin the game and cheapen the experience by making it F2P, although I agree you might want to make a demo where you have a couple of lives to experience the game, it should be sold either as DLC for Arma III (since I will be buying Arma III in the hopes of a DayZ mod, I imagine many others will too - throw them a bone and make it $20 for owners of Arma 3 or something along those lines). I've already seen my favourite franchise Tribes nearly ruined by F2P gameplay wise, DayZ as a game has yet to achieve such greatness and so should really be given the opportunity to be released as a full standalone game with modding features.

    This needs to be fixed - as implementing a 30 minute timer after killing a player until your player character can disappear and connect to another server.

  21. You either die or quit until there is a new patch with more content. Otherwise, you might as well play something else for a while. This game has no "end game", there are just things to do. More patches bring more things to do. Also, what is the point of having all that gear if you never use it? Seriously, if you can't think of anything else to do, you might as well give it a rest.
