It's funny, I saw this post and then thought, I've met some of the worst people I've ever known inside the US Army. EDIT: If you don't feel this way, you've not served your country. I've met some great people but some others were just terrible. Also, what's up with the drowning chorus of basic enlisted?

This. I have no idea what causes it, but it's happened to me and it happened to a buddy joining my game. In both instances we died BEFORE we even finished connecting (saw my buddies corpse flop to the ground before he was aware he was in). Next server you join you spawn on the coast with all your stuff...makes for a harried run back north, but should mean no equipment losses. All of this happened on HIVE servers. The two instances I'm referring to happened about a week apart.

Ask anyone in the military and they'll tell you to keep shooting 'till you see their soles (of their shoes). 5.56 is not an effective round to 1-shot a human being with. I can't speak to what SF does, but they have their own acquisitions process. edit: Apologies to Mr Two, my own experience was eastern afghanistan where you are rarely engaged at less than 400m.

I know a lot of you are directly opposed to PvP, but I'd like you to hear me out. Just read a post talking about a medic attempting to not kill anyone and while I can certainly identify with those thoughts I personally don't follow it. I've helped out a bunch of people in-game but have adopted a fairly brusque policy of shoot on sight when I'm trying to set up a meet with someone. If my goal is to patch up someone, I don't want to be interrupted or spooked mid-bandage--my patient is usually hyper vulnerable, and I'm busy doing one of my salats at Mecca with my weapon on the ground...Since my first concern is patient safety, everyone around me that isn't them is a target. I won't even yell friendly at them--that's inviting a surprise. Straight-up: I will murder you if there is any chance of you spoiling a job. It'd be cool if I didn't have to pop people like that, but it's the truth. As an unexpected bonus, I usually am able to gift some kit onto the next person I meet with, due to the proliferation of gps', NVGs and the like on the corpses of those unfortunate enough to be near a meet. If you need a Medic, I'm your guy--I'll help you out with a smile :D--but don't expect me to be nice to everyone simply because I enjoy performing the role of healer. I patently refuse to let someone who asked for help die because I'm afraid to pull the trigger on a third party.

The number one thing anyone seeking help should be conveying is where they are--there's easily a half dozen white list medics on at any time, and goodness knows how many TMWs. The easiest way to get quick service is to tell us the nearest town. In the above comment "airfield" can mean Balota, NWAF, or Krasno. These airfields are separated by 6+kilometers.

If you've got a group just keep hitting Stary or NWAF, you'll find better. The sights are horrible and the flash gives you away at night (and can very easily blind you on full auto). Had one for a day and thought it was so cool at first; mercifully I got gunned down and started over. It's hard to part with a silenced gun that has 64rd mags, but you'll be better off without it.

I would think that so few people admit to d/c-ing in the game precisely because it's so well hated by the community (and especially, these forums). I'm not defending him, just saying you're coming off a bit strong on what is a fresh face to the game (and who was not likely to realize the error in judgement committed by d/c-ing). You're putting out that you don't want it to get popular: that's a fair call and admirable. Do you really think the reason why 90% of people drop is because they don't know better? That a simple outreach campaign of vitriol at anyone foolish enough to admit it on the forums is going to solve the problem? Granted, I think the kid above was one of the 10%, new to the game and just generally stupid to the social mores of a game he's spent only a few hours playing. Maybe I'm off on that. Thanks for lumping me in with him, by the way--i'm not defending d/c-ers, just trying to point out that you are accomplishing nothing by being a dick on the forums.

If an object is in Arma II, it can be spawned in by hackers. Pretty good odds that it was a hacked in vehicle. edit: and as Aesaunic just posted, that would make it a ladalm, a non-dayz vehicle. Hacked in, deffo.

I get the whole, "shame the new guy" approach but I don't think you're changing anything. People drop, and it sucks (and they suck) but I think you're kidding yourself if you think the wayward souls that altf4 will stop due to a heavy-handed post from you...and if you're not making things better, you're just complaining.

You're beginning to learn that the line between the aforementioned 'bandit' and 'this shit was mine before you got here' is porous. On a side note, if it's during the day a smoke grenade only lasts a few seconds (~20 or so) but usually pulls all the nearby zombies to it. Should give you time to crouch run to the heli and then prone... If it's at night it should be so dark that it doesn't matter what you do, the zombies will barely be able to notice...though you're probably going to be running with chems that they CAN see so it's a bit of a mixed bag. If you don't mind spoiling your location for kilometers around, a flare works wonders... There is no long-term solution to camping a heli, and you're inviting conflict the longer you sit.

I'm at the NWAF but starting to run low on supplies--i'll add you on steam, as BZ is the quickest route for me.

Disappointing that the only responses are requests for aid. steamid is Udak, i'm still somewhere near NWAF, but my overwatch gets boned by the screen tears so I'm hesitant.

Bulf and speedy are good (assuming Trystn was speedy).
