    I Don't Discriminate....anymore.

You gave a gun you've never met your gun so you could go to the hospital and pick up supplies for him. Nice is telling him where the hospital is. Stupid is doing the rest. Maybe you could've escorted him all the way to the hospital, covered him while he looted, but being his manservant and grabbing that stuff.... no.

    DayZ Stories

Short story for once. I'd never seen deerstand loot, or a deerstand at all in-game. So I spawn at our safe house (which is really just a barn we all log out in and completely unsafe) and start trekking towards the nearest deerstand with the hopes of getting rid of my crossbow. I had no food and was worried I might not make the trip back it was so far away. But I pushed on anyway because, y'know, I had a crossbow. Respawning would've been welcome. A quarter of the way to the deerstand I come over a hill to find... a helicopter crash. Somebody made me a happy man today.
  4. Whenever you spawn or respawn run into the nearest real town and within a few minutes you should have a weapon. Whether it's a hatchet or a gun they're effective in the right hands. Then head North to find real loot. People have camps full because some hack it, others player with large groups, and others snipe players at hotspots to get all their loot.
  5. Your technique could use some work. The wording and the fact that you probably shouted your first line in a tone that wasn't very commanding told those guys that you probably were going to kill them anyway and to me sounds a little unstable. Then shooting at people and telling them to surrender? No. As a rule you really shouldn't mug people from the front when they have a chance to shoot you. Do it from out of sight.
  6. Never. The only time I died with anything good I was happy that I died. I had been keeping the gun out of necessity, not because I particularly liked it. It was starting to grow on me towards the end though. And I finally got to change from the female character. Never saw one in game and I wondered what she looked like so I chose her. I figured i'd end up dead while looting elektro anyway so I went with it. Ended up being my best run. It was actually kind of frustrating.

    DayZ Stories

Two things happened today. The first was me and a friend logged on to do some scouting out for when the rest of our friends were on. On the way to our target we found an abandoned bus in a small settlement. After some heavy zombie dodging we were able to determine that all we needed was one tire to get it working again. After dodging more zombies we said forget it and moved on with our lives. We came upon the target town which we had never seen before, being fairly new to DayZ. On one hill we could see the church but apparently this was the one town you couldn't go inside the church from. We decided that we would head back to our safe house as good loot always spawn during our expeditions. But before we can head back I see a building that I naively thought was an odd looking barracks. I point it out to my friend and we head over to investigate. We reached the barracks and figured out it was some sort of farm building. Go figure. But across the street there was an industrial shed and a barn which we decided to quickly check before we left the area. In the barn we found a crossbow, which I used to dispatch some zombies around before dropping both it and my rifle in favor of the silent hatchet. In the industrial shed we found... both tires and engine parts. More than what we needed to repair the amply fueled bus we had left two minutes back down the road. But by now there are dozens of zombies swarming all over us. The rest of the server must have been a ghost town because i'd never seen so many zombies in one spot. I went for the engine parts as he grabbed the tires. I heard shots ring out and I thought it was my friend. My friend asked if it had been me that shot but the question hovered on the edge of my brain and I never gave it any thought. Then suddenly i'm shot. Falling to the ground as eighty zombies swarm around us. One lone man being assaulted by zeds from every side, bleeding profusely, had decided to shoot me instead of his attackers. My friend shot him twice before he too was killed. I'm still trying to figure out what motivated him to march into a teeming mass of infected just to shoot two players and then die. The other thing that happened consisted of me respawning in elektro, discovering that pretty much every building was the site of a last stand, with dozens of corpses trailing up to a survivor's body. If the zombies still weren't over their fresh kills i'd imagine the loot would've been great.

Devils Castle - Is it Safe?

First rule of DayZ? Nowhere is safe. If you've found more than one or two people sneaking around then its definitely not safe and you answered your own question. Besides, i've been hearing its a somewhat hot pvp spot despite the subpar loot.

Best way to find Heli Crashes?

If I had to guess, get a Huey and duct tape searchlights to the bottom. Then rappel down when you find a heli crash since you probably won't be able to land with upside down searchlights on the bottom of your chopper.
  10. Nametag servers... I don't think i've ever actually been on one. Crosshairs, yeah. Definitely. Third person servers don't really matter or not matter to me, but when i'm going in with my hatchet for the silence I found out yesterday that third person is much easier to use the hatchet with.
  11. Exactly how I feel about killing on sight. If i'm with my friends and I see you and we can't easily avoid you without detracting from our route you're probably going to die. Every survivor encounter I had before I met up with my friends I either declared friendly or walked past, in the case of the survivor crouching over a gun with his back turned in the fire station looting, despite the fact that I had a hatchet.

    Seriously What The Hell!!!!

You walked up to a group of seven people who knew each other and expected peace. Even if six out of seven were friendly all it takes is for the seventh guy to shoot you for it to be over.
  13. No matter what I am or am not carrying my character runs slower than everybody else. My friends can walk the same speed as me by crouch walking/running/whatever it is that they do while crouching. I've tried holding handguns, rifles, snipers, hatchets, and even gone empty handed. The result is always the same whether prone, crouch walking, regular walking, or sprinting if you call that speed sprinting. Before anybody says it, no its not the server or lag as I always have a better connection than my friends who I play with. Any help would be appreciated.

What a bandit really should do

I like the term raiders. Some kill for fun, others kill for a purpose. All kill on sight unless there's a good chance they'll lose. Even then some go on anyway.

proof that rocket is a sadist.

Sorry, that would be my fault.

It took me about six minutes to read your post. Simply because I read it at the same pace as the song.

I will never be a bandit. Survivor nice-guy stories

I had my fist murder yesterday. I was playing on a mostly empty server as I had spent the previous night venturing into elektro in the dark to find morphine for a friend. After securing the morphine and patching him up yesterday we waited for two friends who had respawned to find elektro. The first did, and immediately attracted zed attention so was running for his life. My firehouse buddy and I decided to go help him since he had no idea where the power station was. We got separated on the way in and decided to meet up at the church. At this point the server exploded with players. It went from mostly empty to full in about two minutes. Gunshots began ringing out all over the place on our mad dash. We found a tent inside the church, reaching it before the man we came to save did. The tent's owner showed up shortly after us, stared at us, and immediately ran out. I fired a few warning shots after him, told him I was sorry but that he shouldn't come back here. The second friend showed up. The third friend got shot and went unconscious in the streets. The tent owner was repeatedly opening and closing the door, attempting to use third person to discover our location. Never did like third person. I thought he was unarmed so I put myself in a position that gave me both cover yet let him get full sight of my AK. He edged himself past the doorway and raised some sort of handgun. He fired two shots first which slammed in the corner next to me that provided some cover, kicking of bits and pieces from the impact. I decided that was too close for comfort and fired five shots. Unlike him, I had time to aim.
  18. No, he's saying that unlike in DayZ you wouldn't be able to find sniper rifle ammo growing off of trees, growing out of office buildings, growing out of helicopters, and growing out of the ground. You wouldn't find plenty of ammo to restock your baby in the nearest fire station. So either you waste ammo on that little unarmed guy down the street or you save it for when you need it. And yeah, most people wouldn't go off and kill people for no reason. Plenty of people who would "love" to simply wouldn't have the balls in real life. Especially when there's a chance they might get shot back. In real life, most people haven't even been to a shooting range let alone have any real skill at it. If you really think point and shoot would work well in real life at any real range then a quick look at the wars of the past would change your mind fast.

    Are Choppers In The Game?

Choppers are definitely in. You can actually look on certain DayZ maps and find helicopter spawns as well as other vehicles.
  20. Massive amount of players dying at once, and then the same mass dying repeatedly.

    The backstabber bandits

I'm more slack jawed at the fact that you let them shoot you so many times without retaliating or leaving. And then you told them you respawned in the same spot.

    Hernold the Axe Murderer

There's raiding, there's banditry, there's sadism, and then there's creativity. You get points in all of those categories, and my beans.

Don't panic. Remain calm. You'll at least be okay in the event of a nuclear catastrophe.

Three Noobs Looking for Server With Manners

This is okay. Killing people for things like a chopper or better guns is cool. I personally don't do it, but I'm okay with it. Killing people for kicks, which seems to be a lot more common now, isn't banditry. That's what we call raiders. Banditry nowadays seems to be more about raiding and fun than actually getting anything important to your survival.
