    Do these kinds of trades actually go down? It seems like one or both parties will just try to ambush the other for the desired item and deny responsibility afterwards.

    I'd think this would be pretty easy. Just find the texture files for road signs and replace/edit them. Whether or not you'll need to do some unpacking or file conversions will have to be answered by someone with experience doing this with ARMA II. Textures are usually the simplest thing to mod, and they'll only appear different to you. I'm not entirely learned on the relationship between the server and files local to your computer, but I'm fairly sure it doesn't give a shit (at least when it comes to texture files).

    Probably not, but I agree that it should have a main goal. Does anyone else remember those zombie survival games on Newgrounds where you're trying to reach the port city so you can escape? Something similar to that would be interesting, but a leveling system in a shooter game just stacks the deck against new players in pvp.

    The further you can see, the more data the server has to send. Limiting it keeps it manageable (on average) I guess.

    Agreed. Malnourishment hinders your body's ability to do so, but blood loss is too critical in the game at this point and needs to be eased up on; blood regen would be a good way to do this.

    and people think banditry is bad NOW, just wait until they can get food from your corpse. I support this in terms of realism, but it would push pvp over the edge.
  11. Haha, yeah every day there is at least one thread proposing some overly complex solution to banditry, usually through incentives to kill bandits/not kill survivors or the institution of moral systems that tell you how you should feel for hurting the poor widdle players.

    Swinging an axe is a lot harder than you would expect. Unless you're the barbarian from Diablo you're not going to be causing any major damage double wielding hatchets (now if they were the size of small hand axes I'd change my tune).

    This. Not to mention messing with bandits, this would be a useful way to clear out zombies while you loot an area. TBH the aggro range for gunshots is already too short, it would just be ridiculously unrealistic if they said, "did you hear that? I guess it was the wind" when a round gets fired less than a 100m away.

    They're blind enough as it is. Sometimes I get spotted at a distance when I'm kneeling-walking or crawling, but its not that often. If you pop off a round with a bunch of zombies in earshot and nowhere to run/hide, you're gonna have a bad time. At the current time zombies are a little fast, but if they were slowed down then it would just be L4D2 all over again; IF there were more zombies I totally wouldn't mind this, but they've already put in as many as they can right now without slowing things down. So for the time being its a necessary evil.
  15. Stamina This has probably been brought up several hundred times, but I'll just reiterate for the sake of adding my voice in there. There should be a stamina bar, which will deplete when running. My character is like marathon man when being chased by zombies. I understand the effects of adrenaline and the threat of an excruciating death by a zombie eating fest, but the human body has its limits. I know there is nothing about sprinting in here, and that is because I realized it wouldn't work very well. Sorry for that now misleading bit in the title. Kneeling walking speed The kneeling walking speed seems pretty slow. I haven't tested this, but I'm pretty sure you go faster when you're crawling. Gunshot aggro Gunshots should be aggro'ing zombies from a much greater distance. It encourages you to get the hell out of dodge if you shoot off a round, especially in conjunction with my suggestions regarding stamina (and my suggestion below this). E.g if I pop off a round in, say, Balota, then every zombie in town will be converging on the general location of the shot (like, running there, not just taking old man steps and giving the survivor/bandit a ten minute headstart). Disconnecting Just make it so that there is a short disconnect timer, and if you disconnect prematurely, your character will still be there until it finishes (perhaps fifteen to thirty seconds). If the player isn't worried about what happens, then their character will suffer the consequences; simple as that. More melee weapons I know this one wasn't listed in the title, but it was getting kind of long. There need to be more, simple melee weapons, like a lead pipe, wooden board, tree branch, etc, that can be found much more commonly (tree branch for instance would spawn in the forest). If players had stamina limitations, then it would only be fair to give new characters more options besides inevitable death by fatigue then cannibalization. The added bonus about all these in conjunction (except for kneeling walking speed, I just felt compelled to add that in there) is that it gives bandits more to worry about, and in effect would greatly discourage off-handedly murdering anyone they come across. Shooting some guy might earn them a death by zombies, since their ability to run away would be handicapped, as well as their ability to magically whisk themselves away via d/c.

  17. Creepily, I enjoy watching other players go about their business while I'm hidden. I'd be down with shooting them, but to me being able to just avoid people feels like a greater accomplishment. TL;DR Let them kill eachother, concentrate on staying alive.
  18. A good shader mod or update would vastly improve the game IMO. The lighting really sucks, especially indoors.
  19. What really sells this to me is the idea of finding a player made base overrun by zombies. I'm hoping there will be roaming zombie mobs in A3: Day Z to effect this.

  22. Pointing out that Russian servers have more hackers isn't racist (I don't know if they for a fact do or not), and even if he were saying they had more hackers for the virtue of being Russian that's still a big stretch.
