  1. Yeah, maybe carve a club or something, which will do more damage and have a faster attack speed than the tree branch.
  2. I've considered calling them infected, but the title "Day Z," compels me to call them zombies (unless the Z stands for something else entirely).
  3. Will ARMA 3 be modder friendly/moddable at all? I'd hate for everyone to be as disappointed as TW modders were when Shogun 2 was released. This game has an awesome concept, but it can only be fully realized as a standalone game rather than a mod. That way we can have everything we want without worrying about whether or not ARMA II can handle it/allow it (the very make-shifted spawning system is a good example). There are far superior engines out there available for indie development (e.g the UDK). Getting back on track, I think this would be an awesome idea. Laser sights, scopes, and silencers would make my day.
  4. Its not all bad... they should just spawn wherever and be a rare encounter for most players. Perhaps they could even drop some rare gear, giving groups of players an incentive to hunt them down if there is a sighting.
  5. When handles get involved, shit becomes very personal very fast.

    Spawning with a Crowbar

This is needed. It gives new players some defense, while giving them an option besides d/c or running onto a dock (zombies can't seem to navigate onto them. I highly doubt the crowbar would be abused... from what I've read it sucks, and all new players would have them. Just make it so that the crowbars don't cause bleeding.
  7. This would be interesting. There should be like, "nightmare zombies," or a special enemy who randomly spawns somewhere in the game, and has increased health and damage. Something like Slenderman in the forests. That would scare the shit out of me.

    DayZ FOR XBOX 360!!

Perhaps if the controls were a bit more intuitive, they could translate well to a 360 controller. I tried making a configuration with xpadder for my wired 360 controller (I was going to play the game on the tv using my alienware laptop), but it didn't work out. Besides, mouse beats controller every time for aiming, especially in a game like Day Z where the zombies are slippery as shit when running.

    First impressions

I've played my first few sessions, and here is what I've observed. It takes too long to get stuff, and more often than not someone will kill you and take it, or just kill you anyway. I just got a bunch of stuff after hours of fruitless playing, then some guy runs up through the zombie infested fields being chased by zombies, and shoots me in the back while I'm on the ground. Something tells me he'll d/c then return after a minute or two and loot my corpse. I understand how people say its 'realistic' to not inhibit wonton slaughter, but there is realism and then there are games. They don't necessarily mesh well together. WHAT IS FUN: Shooting zombies, finding supplies, etc. NOT FUN: Being shot by everyone in sight on the off-chance you have supplies. I know you guys want to maintain the difficulty, but how about.. 1. Make there be enough supplies for everyone. Wait, wait! There is more.. 2. Add more zombies, make them wander inbetween towns and in the wilds, and generally make it more difficult to avoid them. I might get flamed for pointing this out, but the game is broken if the greatest danger is other players rather than the actual zombies. Just sayin'.
  10. I agree with this. There at LEAST needs to be more zombies. If there is too much murdering going on, it means that people obviously have too many bullets. It would make the game better if there was the fear of running into strays or packs in the forests. However if there are going to be more zombies, then new characters will need new/more melee weapons at least in the beginning (perhaps even a lead pipe or a tree branch). Being at the mercy of item spawns is annoying, especially after painstakingly sneaking into a town only to find there is nothing there worth your while.

    Item locations unrealistic

Changing the z coordinate of something doesn't sound too difficult, depending on the tools the devs are using. With the sophisticated acrobatics involved in turning a tactical FPS into a zombie apocalypse survival game, I don't get why they don't make it a standalone with something like the UDK (development kit for the unreal engine 3) or another engine. Sure they would be building a game from the ground up, but at least that way they can add in everything the want to and make it work how they want, instead of painstakingly fitting it into the framework of ARMA II.

IF this was an actual game...

I would be willing to pay a fee to play a stand-alone version of this game (Unreal Engine 3 :) ). If it would translate into continual development and improvement in gameplay, appearance, and composition of the overland map (you have to admit it looks kind of bland and empty... houses without doors and mostly populated by zombies and zombie chairs), then it would be worth $3 - $5 a month, ontop of the game sales. As for development, it should of course be centered around a studio, but with the ability for users to mod for their own servers. Kickstarter wouldn't hurt, but it should be used in conjunction with pre-purchases (or the pre-purchases should be integrated into the kickstarter process, such as how some developers will have a minimum donation amount which will get the donor a copy of the game when its finished).
  13. I'm thinking of getting Arma 2: CO just to play this, but before I do I wanted to ask if there are there any high resolution texture packs or shader mods available for it?
