Stay away from the hacker infested Russian servers...

This may be a technologically ignorant idea, but perhaps Valve anti-cheat would work better. -

Whats wrong with avoiding a character death being unfairly foisted on you by a hacker? If everyone wouldn't flip their shit and kill eachother it would be anti-climatic for the hacker. -
Arma series is so terrible.
Strogg replied to A Bush killed me's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As for not helping Day Z, why would they help complete the alpha for ARMA II when they can spend their time preparing the ground work for it's ARMA III counterpart. -
Important information about arma 2 OA patch 1.62!!!!
Strogg replied to joecheeze's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think ARMA has a version thing in the bottom right-hand corner when you run it. What version you're looking for beats me though. -
They could add in tons of vehicles, then everyone would be running down zombies and holding crash derbies. I agree that there is a logical inconsistency with 99.999% of all vehicles vanishing into thin air, but this likely has as much to do with keeping areas uncluttered (just picture the miles of highway backed up with cars in TWD) as it does with the gameplay. EDIT: As for tanks, the area of Day Z seems pretty rural. I imagine they were probably all taken further inland to defend major cities, if there were even that many there to begin with. Mind you I'm just speculating to fill the void.

Looks like a model from the game. It might not be hacked, it could be a server admin experimenting with spawning different character models?

TIL You can knock down trees and smash buildings in Day Z.

DON'T LET STEAM UPDATE OA!! Game breaking!
Strogg replied to happylarry77's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Luckily my laptop isn't connected to the internet right now. I expect by the time I wake up in the afternoon there will be a patch out already for the six launcher; if not then no biggie. -
Everyone thinks this is the end of the world so I thought it was appropriate :)

Pretty much everyone plays 3rd person. You get a better view around your character, and you can manipulate the camera to look around corners (the difference between aggro'ing a zombie or getting shot in the face).

Skynet just launched.

The movie Virus is 100% accurate, so don't even start. -
More "realistic" zombies (slower but more numerous)
Strogg replied to T8TRG8TR's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Zombies are at their max already, but I agree with the sentiment. The zombie apocalypse should be challenging in that there are too many to kill them all rather than they're too fast. I'd be down with making them slower (to maybe a max of a fast stumble), IF the player didn't have infinite stamina, and if it were headshot only kills. -

Fuck, better delete system 32 and microwave my hard drive. -
Military weapons.. but no body armor?
Strogg replied to broguenz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've been thinking about this as well. Hopefully in ARMA III there will be a better inventory system that will allow for clothing items and other accessories (there is the ghillie suit, but I don't know how those are handled). Having some protection against most headshots would help a lot. An item that would effect damage amounts would probably have something to do with hit boxes; if rocket can mess with those, I don't see why not. -
Cue for battle of waterloo music while hackers do fly-bys in helicopters.
-
I would agree, as the aim of Day Z is realism and uninhibited behavior, but this is probably the one thing that would make the game unplayable. Killing new players is MUCH easier than scavenging food. They'll be worse off than the dodo bird.

You should have taken the time to read the quote from the person I was replying to. The dude was referring to ARMA III, not Crysis 2.

Can server admin ban people for finding there tents?
Strogg replied to Deadly7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Maybe they have something set so that if players get within x distance of their tents, auto-ban. You'd need input from an actual admin though as to whether or not they can do that though. If they feel that strongly about it, can't they just run a modified map with their own hidden underground bunker or something. -
Live bait: Runs through towns, lures most of the infected to the docks while teammate/s grab the loot.

Thank you for the corrections. Have they given him the tools to make any changes he wants to Arma II? If they'll give him full modding support for Arma III, then I'm fully supportive of that idea.

This would be an interesting concept, but guards can't be around 24/7, and they can't always be trusted. I've heard of far more elaborate schemes being carried out to mess shit up in the gaming world. Expecting a certain level of discipline from gamers is really "touch & go". I have read stories on the forum (who knows whether they're true or not, or whether its regular players or hackers) of small groups being able to set up sophisticated base camps, but something tells me a trade zone fall apart pretty fast, from raids or traders being robbed/murdered & looted. The ability of players to organize in this manner will probably be better complemented in later versions of Day Z.

The fact would be that Rocket would still be modding someone else's game. He would still have great difficulty implementing certain changes or wouldn't be able to make them at all, ontop of the fact that Bohemia would still be raking in all the profits from his work while he would be left with zip. In addition, for all we know Arma III will be moddable to an even lesser extent than Arma II is. It makes more sense for Rocket to move onto a standalone game with the Day Z concept; sure there is a lot of work involved, but it will pay off eventually, whereas modding will never pay off (unless you end up being one of those lucky modders who gets hired for their skill or their work gets bought out, which I have only heard of happening to source modders since Valve are pretty cool dudes). UDK is his best bet IMO, since it is the most accessible engine available for use by indie developers (Epic Games provides great support, and you only have to look at games like Arkham City, Gears of War or Bioshock 2 to see what its capable of).

Nope, just a humble modeler with some experience using the UDK.
