I'm glad to see this is getting fixed in the upcoming patch. Einherj, thank you for seeing a problem and then working on a solution. (even if the devs were already working on it too) People like you are a benefit to the community.

less likely to shoot female survivor?
Dullard replied to alchemy1002's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It wasn't meant in the most literal sense, more about it being a portion of land cut off from the rest of civilization and surrounded on all sides by an impenetrable barrier. -
DISABLE HUD? - For Recording
Dullard replied to RaedwulfGamer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I feel pretty safe in saying that there is currently no way of turning off the hud atm. I agree with you though, I really want to be able to for filming purposes. I've experimented with cropping the screen in my vids, but the end result leaves a lot to be desired. I have seen it mentioned on these forums that rocket wants to remove chat and the debug screen though, but take that with a grain of salt until you see an official response. -
I always trust players unless they are shooting at me or in a Bandit skin. That's my play-style and I enjoy it. I'd rather have a temporary friend in-game for a few minutes or a few hours than I would an extra can of beans. Ally > Beans

Where are all the women on this island hiding?! This is expansion material right here folks. -
Can we please center the header?? Ahh!
Dullard replied to robollama's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The game is meant to keep you off centered. These forums follow rockets design philosophy as well. moar tears etc... -
I guess this must answer your question about nice people on the internet then. But srsly... my 13 year old son made $45 last weekend by cleaning up peoples yards. Go door to door and ask if they'd like their yards raked, weeds pulled, trash cleaned up. Ask elderly people who live around you if they need any errands ran or windows washed. I'm not really trying to be "that guy", but money is out there to be made if you just put a little effort into it.

Admitted Duping and Hacking 20+ LLKJ members
Dullard replied to EyesandEars's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
On US3 last night at the NE airfield, I found like 10 dead bodies in the top floor of the control tower. They were all fully geared and had full ammo. I know it wasn't zombies that killed them so maybe this has something to do with it. This is only speculation on my part. -
Typical British attitude!

I have two additional pieces of advice. 1) Load and run all versions of the game normally, just load into the first mission. Single player is fine here. 2) Ignore most of the error messages. :) I still get glasses/cb_main/misc error messages all the time and I still seem to play just fine.

JimiEZ, I take it you've never tried to run 60km in full combat gear (or even just a backpack) at a full sprint, while pointing a full length assault rifle? Because if you had, you'd know that YOU CAN'T FUCKING DO IT! Yet Rocket thinks it's okay, so we have it. You have to be able to suspend belief in some regards when playing games, even in a game as brutal as DayZ. The real way to approach issues like this is to weight the negative aspects vs. the positive and choose the lesser of the two evils. There are too many weird moments in the game because of collision from guns or backpacks. While stmovment isn't perfect, it's an improvement on the way the game is now.

The Buddy System [Friend spawning mechanism]
Dullard replied to zackb101's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The way you solve this problem is by only allowing spawning on a friend to occur in the newbie zones. "Player2 wants you to spawn at his location. Do you accept?" Click "Accept" or "Yes" and you spawn at a typical in-game starting point. Do NOT allow players to spawn anywhere else but where we normally spawn. It's like starting the journey all over again but without the 30 minute run to try to meet back up. -
I would love to see an option for "Random South West Coast" and "Random South East Coast" spawn points. There are obvious reasons why being able to choose a spawn point would be bad (like spawn camping or everyone choosing to spawn by the NW airfield) but I'd love to see SOME sort of choice to group up easier with friends.

I love how dark this game is, both in tone and visually, but... I think there might need to be more leniency with light sources than what we currently have for new survivors on a re-spawn. I don't think Rocket wants us to turn our gamma up in-game, but let's face it, I bet almost everyone does. If I'm right, and almost everyone abuses their gamma settings, then I think there is a fundamental problem that needs to be addressed in the game settings. Ultimately, I don't feel like the level of darkness in game is accurate to the real world. I'm an avid outdoorsman and tend to be more nocturnal in my activity, and it's quite simply just not that dark outside, even on cloudy nights. In the woods, with heavy leaf cover I would agree that the darkness is more appropriate, but in the city/towns/villages where there is a clear sky it usually wouldn't be. Perhaps an increase in starting flares. I love knowing that I have a limited amount of flares on spawn and that I'll need to start looting them more vigorously at night, but I feel it straddles the line too closely of being completely fucked if you run out. I don't want to have unlimited flares though. Side note: why must we carry a flare directly in front of our face? It's probably an issue with the engine, but is it possible to code flares to "clip" on to our person? Chem-lights in place of (in addition to?) flares at spawn. Chem-lights have a certain tactical use that flares just don't. They appropriately don't provide near as much light, but they also don't announce your location nearly as obvious as a flare does to Bandits. I wonder how the game would play if chem-lights were standard starting gear instead of flares. Perhaps flashlight as starter gear. Flashlight are relatively rare in game, but should they be? Flashlights are extremely common in the real world (though so are watches and matches) and if we have such easy access to guns and ammunition in-game then increasing the spawn rate of flashlights doesn't seem to be too much beyond the realm of reality. I don't know if it would be possible to add battery life to a flashlight, but if so, that would be a possible balancing equation to them not being desired enough. Also, and this may be a limitation of the game engine, but carrying a flashlight and a pistol at the same time needs to be an option. I'm not sure exactly what the answer here is, and I know this thread will get the "this game is fine, stop crying" response, but I'm trying to look at it objectively. If you need to tweak visual settings and/or look for servers that are still daylight then perhaps, just perhaps an open mind should be kept about the games problems (real or imagined). I love this game and I love playing at night. Let's make more players do it!
