DayZ BaseWars Survival Games! (Chernarus)
Tobes95 replied to HumbleNuts's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was gutted to get killed so quickly, ran to the Stary tents and was looking for a weapon among the first couple of people when a zombie almost immediately broke my legs! Left me helpless and unarmed and got taken out whilst crawling and rolling around by one of the luckier ones who just happened to look in a different tent to me :P -
Every game out at the moment except ArmA and PlanetSide 2 can be run at 60fps on an OK computer, even if it means turning some settings down, loads of them are comparable to ArmA 3 in graphics. Unfortunately with ArmA 2 and 3 and PS2 it's just something you have to deal with that a framerate we have all come to expect is simply not available even on a system running, for example, an i7 and GTX Titan, because it is so badly optimised. I just hope DayZ when it comes out runs at 60fps all the time even if it means playing everything on low, otherwise I can't see myself playing it much.

Perhaps, it would take a lot of work though and probably couldn't catch everything unless you physically inspected everyone's uploaded face that they wanted to use before approving it, which would be pretty painstaking and again a lot of ongoing work would be needed for a relatively minor feature. Maybe server admins could approve your custom face before you're allowed to play on their server? That would mean an admin being online when you want to play with your new face to approve it, but you could just have a default face until your custom one gets approved when the admin next comes online I suppose. Still a lot of work for server admins and you might get some that just don't care everyone's walking around with a penis for a face and approve everything. Can't see a viable way round it really.

Good to see an FOV option in there but will there be a number assigned to it? I think most people tend to have a particular FOV that they stick to in games like 90 or 100, and it would be a lot easier to just be able to enter this number and play than to have to fiddle with the slider for ages trying to get the perfect setting. Everything else looks awesome though, and the fact that you're so unwilling to show the new inventory system is more exciting to me than if you had shown off an amazing one, it means you absolutely have to keep it under wraps because it's so great that you don't want anyone...*ahem* taking inspiration from it...(You're Winner!). Either that or you just haven't finished it yet and you're bluffing so we don't get too alarmed!

Rocket mentioned this possibility in an interview recently (Maybe shannonzkiller's interview IIRC) but said it would most likely be ruled out due to a phenomenon known as "time to penis," i.e. how long before someone makes a penis out of something, in this case it would literally result in a bunch of dickheads.

So this other player I came across (female skin called Fox) in my truck and I were refuelling in Novy Sobor, nearly done and I'd been running over zombies no problem for the past few minutes without them hurting me through the truck (it seemed like the quietest way to do it). Then when I go to smush another one, my blood level halves, the (pain?) icon comes up on the right side (looks like the broken legs icon but not that one) and then I fall out of the truck, dead. Any ideas if zombies can kill you through truck doors? It was a Ural, specifically. I was gutted because I had run over a bandit earlier that had so much stuff on him; M4A1 holo, M1911, NVGs, GPS etc. etc. after he tried to shoot us through the truck to no avail, although he probably just missed.

is there any way to fix a broken leg besides morphine
Tobes95 replied to GulpinGulpin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sorry to tell you this but I once found a morphine injector in Stary Sobor supermarket...might have been worth a look! -
DayZ from Steam in a few brief and simple steps (No third party programs such as SixUpdater, all in all granting better experience)
Tobes95 replied to zDevon's topic in New Player Discussion
erikmg you need to copy the Addons folder from the Arma 2 Folder into the Operation Arrowhead folder. -

Works great, thanks. -
So I've been playing DayZ on UK servers until earlier when I tried a US server as it was night-time on the UK ones and I couldn't see anything, and until then I'd been getting 15-20 fps with frequent drops to less than 10. On the US server this nearly doubled, getting a constant 25-30fps without drops so it was a much more playable experience. It could just be coincidental but it seems weird that a US server would work far better when I live in the UK. I'm playing with all low or very low (some disabled) settings at 1440x900 resolution. My setup is: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 @2.33Ghz Nvidia Geforce 8800GT 4GB RAM I know it's not very good but does anyone know why US servers would give me a higher fps or has anyone else experienced this? I tried the RAMDisk thing and it didn't seem to help much.

Copy Addons folder from the Arma 2 folder into the Operation Arrowhead folder and that should fix it.

DayZ Not Working When Launched in Steam
Tobes95 replied to TheBlackJim's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Open Steam. Click the Games menu. Click Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library. Click Browse. Navigate to, most likely, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta. If you are not running 64-bit Windows, remove (x86)from the path. Choose arma2oa.exe. Click Open. Click Add Selected Programs. Open your Steam Library. Right-click arma2oa in your games list, and choose Properties. Rename it from "arma2oa" to "DayZ". Set the Target to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" "-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2;Expansion;ca;@dayz" -nosplash If you had to modify the path in step 5, do so here as well. Set the Start In line to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead If you had to modify the path in step 5, do so here as well. Click Close. You should now be able to run the game from within Steam using the "DayZ" shortcut. http://www.dayzwiki...._.28Optional.29 -
Copy and paste the Addons folder from Arma 2 folder into Operation Arrowhead folder and this ought to fix it.
