Well, for me, entering any forest at night is a microcosm of the blair witch project. I also once saw a slenderman with no eyes riding a grunt from amnesia: the dark descent like an evil pony, and when it galloped towards me my character shat his pants and passed out.

If I hear the line 'in a real zombie apocalypse...' one more time, I think my head will explode.

UPDATED DAILY: I'm Issuing a Warning to Any Snipers
Cluckles replied to ZombieSpecialist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
OP loathes sniping and therefore kills snipers by sniping. Hypocracy? -
To all you QQ'ers whining about getting killed, l2p or gtfo

What minecraft servers do you frequent? There's pvp and rage aplenty in that game. -
Is everyone in DayZ like this?
Cluckles replied to EpicPencil's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Seems like a fairly easy situation to understand, but maybe that's just me. -
Aim for the head.

I agree with the OP, for what it's worth. -
Why should I be playing this mod furthermore..

If you're looking for a specific 'endgame', the content of which you hope someone will relay to you on these forums in just a few lines, then perhaps this isn't the game for you. -
This happened to me as well. Lost NVG, all tools / backpack, as well as primary (DMR) and secondary (M1911) weapons. The only thing remaining was my main inventory, consisting mostly of ammo. I can't remember which server I was on, but it was definately a UK one.

Yeah I have the same problem - all the listed servers on sixlauncher are appearing to have 666 player slots, 9999 ping, and 'bad' protection.

I would like to be able to consume tins of dog and/or cat food. Tough times, after all. . . -
Anyone ever had a pulp fiction Divine Intervention moment?
Cluckles replied to Gruelius's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Had a similar sort of incident today, when I was running towards a village near cherno to meet up with a friend, in the middle of the night. A guy unloaded on my while I was running through the forest from quite close range, but all of the spray missed. I then darted behind some foliage, and through the thermal sight of the L85A2 AWS (luckily found in a heli crash site earlier) I could instantly see him prone in a bush so I put a few rounds into his head and get the kill. However, he unfortunately logged, so I didn't get any loot. He must've had a pair of NVGs to see me in the pitch dark, which my friend would've found very useful. -
Because chaps such as yourself get so annoyed about it.

Doling out bans is a terrible way to implement an anti alt-f4 policy. I often have to switch or relog into servers due to all sorts of factors, such as graphical glitches, lag, friends not being able to get onto the server, etc.etc. Why not just implement a 10 second logout time, like pretty much every other game in which this is an issue? If a player alt-f4's, just leave their character in game for 10 seconds.

Threads like this are the reason most people don't bother with forums.
-
I was talking about myself, not you. I have no quarrel with a thread consisting solely of an exclamation that the OP has never encountered a hacker. I am very happy for you.
-
I got killed by a hacker at one point, therefore the game is full of hackers. You have never been killed by a hacker, therefore there are no hackers in the game. Maybe I'm just awful at drawing conclusions from premises.

Sins of a hacking gamer...

Give it another 17 years (more or less) and you'll no doubt realise that your online antics and subsequent epiphanies don't matter to yourself in the slightest, let alone to an anonymous gaggle of forum dwellers. This realisation might coincide with another seemingly unrelated one, which may involve a childrens TV show about ponies. -
The Bandit Dilemma: An Inner Look at the Economics and Psychology of Banditry and the Inevitable Collapse of Day Z
Cluckles replied to Chiefmon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not sure, for me personally I find the tense nature of the game stems from the feeling of paranoia that can only arise from the knowledge that you might be shot at any moment. If this was compromised, I don't think I would enjoy the game as much. However I suppose this is subjective and different people expect different things from the game. As far as the strategic decision making goes from the game theory standpoint, what you've stated looks quite enjoyable to me. -
The Bandit Dilemma: An Inner Look at the Economics and Psychology of Banditry and the Inevitable Collapse of Day Z
Cluckles replied to Chiefmon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The use of game theory here is good. However it only explains solo play, not accounting for group dynamics in the game (which is full of teams of players, of varying sizes). Also, why do you think this system has to be changed? It seems nice and simple to me, with scope for interesting and tense encounters in-game. Surely the equilibrium point of the bandit : survivor ratio is dependant on the average time of survival, due to LOSS being dependent on play time. The day Z website states this is 49 minutes, so I would assume based on this that we would see more diplomacy at the equilibrium point of this model than you are suggesting.
