Stop that. Just because I couldn't get to my computer today does not mean I should be penalized ingame. Please remove this in the next patch. This is silly. I can understand persistence and abuse with logging to prevent death, but it still is a mechanic that punishes you for not playing, and that's -bad-. I don't care if you lose it faster when you actually play, or whatever other things happen. You should -not- be penalized when not playing the game. End of.

I think most everybody agrees that the new zombie counts are nice, but the respawn rate is not.

Patch 1.5.7 and this being an Alpha and fucking zombie spawns
Jeff (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
After playing with 4 (and 5, later) other people for several hours last night, the new zombie counts are great. What is not great is the respawn timer. Waaaay to fast. All of us agreed the new towns full of a hundred zombies presented a great threat to our safety and our lack of being found by other players, and we'd like to keep it. We all also agreed that being able to physically see 15 zombies respawn when you've just killed 30 is a bit disheartening. It doesn't lend itself to getting into a town, clearing, and looting, because you're -always- fighting zombies. Overall, keep the number, change the timer. Yay bugs. -
The New Zombie Count is AWESOME

I really like the amount of zombies but the respawn rate is way out of control. When I can kill 5 zombies then watch them all respawn in a 3 minute period, it's too high. -
No. They need to change the spawns a bit more, so things are more spread out. They started doing it, which is good, but it's still a tad too concentrated.

Giving players the ability to create and maintain their own places will do more to counter pvp-fuckfests than changes to humanity and banditry ever will. Players can do this now, this is true, but it's very difficult, and with server hopping, a lack of identifying without nameplates, and generally low server counts (50 people is not good for a group making their own town, sadly) really cut into the potential.

Running through the forest for hours on end won't really go well with a lack of water for 14 days -
I'M NOT COMPLAINING I AM CURIOUS Has there been a change to military loot spawns? In the airstrip, deerstands, and other places, all the loot has been fairly low tier, stuff I can find easily in apartments or barns. The best I've seen recently was a DMR, and that was a surprise. AKs (and their variants) are decently common and that's nice, but unless we restricted military loot spawn to Stary and the NW field (which I've not visited recently), something is wrong here. If it's changed so that less military gear is spawned, that's fine, I'd just like to know.

Seriously fuck those things. They make me jump 10 feet in the air every time I see one in the forest at night. Petition to nerf bunnies. All in favor?

Bunnies are more scary than zombies

I don't know where you got that picture but I'll be damned if I'm sleeping tonight. -
Tents going with every patch :(

I've been playing League since before Poppy was released, and I'm gonna come right out and say you're wrong. The game may not be pay2win in the standard sense, but there is a CLEAR advantage to those with more champions, runes/pages, and IP in general.

While I'm obviously not at liberty to speak on what intricacies the development team has to go through while hosting, it was shown via Guild Wars (the first one) that you can have a Buy2Play model and still have enough to host easily. In fact, I believe it was a very small portion of their costs to host. Of course, they also had a cosmetic shop, but that may be beside the point

I've had this for a few years, never really got into it due to other games taking the forefront. When I get bored with the mod or move on, I may try hooking up with somebody like Shacktac or one of the other big groups.

Game purchase A mix of studio and community. Anything purely dev based will be out of touch, anything purely community based will be out of touch. You need a mix

There's no reason not to make challanges for yourself. Try to see how many zombies you can kill in cherno before you need to get out. That'll keep you occupied for ages.

I agree in a sense with the above post. Persistence will change things WAY around in this mod. Once people can get encampments set up on a server and not have it disappear in a week, then we're talking. The only big problems with this is that players can simply log out of one server in the spot they want and log back in another without having to bypass guards or patrols or anything

I love you too, Rocket. -
The problem is that people who wish to disrupt and harm the player made areas will abuse out of game mechanics to do so. Server hopping being the biggest offender.
-
You're going to find very little help or sympathy here. Nobody likes people who kill just for killing. In fact, I'm willing to bet people would rather the zombie just spawn on top of you in the first place.

Erm, no? I was just clarifying who it was pointed at. I still stand by what I said.
-
Nobody said that you overreacting twat. A lot of folk -do- want items spread out and spawn rates tweaked, but you're the ONLY person who wants items to be so damn rare it takes a server restart. EDIT: Er, that wasn't posted for you, rocket.
-
That doesn't really provide good data, 3 go arounds isn't exactly the most solid amount to work with. Even so, lowering the respawn rate is a much better idea than taking it out entirely. Any idea that has the phrase "Requires a server restart to..." is generally a bad idea. Lowering the rate, sure. Making them rarer, sure. Taking it out? No.
