Fair enough. We're in agreement about the main point of that post, then? The problem here is everybody is asking for mechanics to control the dudes who kill everybody for the fun of it. Why can't we patrol that? A "killed by" thing would do well if somebody is getting X kills over Y time on people, and the community itself can bring forth players they deem problematic, no?

Why did you nerfed the loot percentage ?
Jeff (DayZ) replied to drakenof's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Exactly. Outside from spreading loot out a bit, and -maybe- increasing the timer an hour or two, loot is generally handled very well. But yes, spread out loot. -
So we're all in agreement it's the players that are killing for the fun of it, not the mechanics of the game (well, not to a big degree) that are the problem? Aside from some complaints about gear spawns being too centered around a few areas, the only real issues anybody has put forth is about those folk who get their rocks off by randomly killing everybody. Outside of that, I don't think many people would claim PVP for gear, food, meds, ammo, etc is a bad idea. If you do, you're an idiot.

The only point I agree with is how easy it is to get away with being a bandit. The rest are exactly how it should be. This mod is meant to be about survival. Food is going to be rare, water too, and those big packs and guns aren't going to be in cities that have been picked clean. You're also one person. You can get new backpacks to hold more stuff. Outside of that, you shouldn't be able to get more on you.

That's over-exaggerating a metric fuckton. Zombies still pose problems. Most of the stories I read involve zombies in one way or another.

How many people have you converted?

Some things I've noticed in the new update
Jeff (DayZ) replied to Goose Springsteen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Go north? The south is the starting zone. Constant looters and pvpers (should) make that place bad for loot. -
I stream on and off as well, I may be doing one soon.

They also didn't respawn.

I don't know the viability of this in ARMA mods, but what of custom towns/shacks out in the woods? Obviously not right now, due to more pressing issues, but a possibility? -
The -only- pvp I dislike it the blatant killing of newbies on the coast. Sure, some beans are nice but when I follow a trail of 15 dead new bodies because some fucker with NVG's though it'd be funny, that's not good. PvP for no other reason than PvP is not really the point. If he has a better gun, sure. More food? Sure. Better maps or a compass, or something? Sure. Just for the sake of killing him? No.

I don't mind high quality gear being more north, but having it in only military complexes really puts a downer on things. I plan on going north, and eventually going there, but damn do I not want to do it every time. I suppose there's a reason I stay on the coast, at least things are a little more volatile there. -
A question about infected speeds
Jeff (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Because those things don't automatically make the zombie fast, just driven. It doesn't suddenly make the muscles stronger, or less rotted, or somehow better. It doesn't effect the body unless we're talking about a mutation that gives the zombies that ability, which I haven't seen. The biggest problems aren't the speed. It's that there's no aggro radius and they'll chase you from one side of the map to the other It's that they can knock you out in a single hit And it's that they're stupidly tough to hit. Also make bleeding stop after X blood loss. -
It's not griefing, though. It's what should be happening. Think of this akin to EVE online. You put yourself out there, somebody somewhere is going to want you dead because of you what you have. It's just the nature of survival.

That's kind of the point. Zombies are... zombies. Your goal is to survive. Yes, people want more and better stuff, so they're going to kill you to take it. Giving people a goal is a bad idea. That takes away from the Sandbox. What people need, and are getting, are more permanent tools. Ways to establish boundries and groups. But that will come in time.

I must be glitched, I'm always unable to drink sodas. I never have the option.

There needs to be more water sources. Going through 2 and a half towns and a military base and not seeing a single pump or pond or lake in miles makes me wonder how the hell a village with a supermarket can thrive without some god damned water. Seriously.

Zombies: why they are silly and unbalanced
Jeff (DayZ) replied to Muffinman840's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There's 3 things I dislike. 1. The distance. Give them an aggro radius of sorts 2. The knockout. If I'm perfectly healthy, they shouldn't knock me out. 3. The bleeding. I seem to almost ALWAYS bleed on the very first zombie hit. Bleeding also needs to stop on its own after like, 5k blood or something. Unless it's a huge gash, losing all your blood from a single wound is really tough to do. -
A case for "classic" Zeds
Jeff (DayZ) replied to Goose Springsteen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not sure how I feel on fast moving z's, but I will say that there need to be more out in the wilderness, more roaming and more of a spawn timer, if at all possible. -
Problems with the Morality System
Jeff (DayZ) replied to -A2L-Jono's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've killed one guy so far, in the middle of the city. Him and his buddies were killing people for upwards of an hour, bandit suit and all, and all of a sudden we stumble upon each other around a corner in the building. He aims, I aim, we both fire, get hit, and die. But I think I technically fired first, so I get to be a bandit now. Bleh. I don't mind the looks, but I agree with no system. There's no telling in the real world, why here? -
I don't mind Zombies as they are save the spawning. When I have 50 zombie kills for a 3 house little area, it's time to turn off the spawns for a little while.
