  1. I seriously cannot think of any reason at all for not using a mic. Seriously not. Except being to lazy to install one. A deaf person cannot play games like dayz in the first place, because it basically relies on hearing stuff. There are no subtitles for the hearing impaired anyways. If you have no headset, just buy one, $20 will buy a decent enough piece. If you don't have that money, well...screw you, why would you be complaining? Complain about the lack of money then, I'd say! If your PC just has not enough USB-ports...well, it may be a piece of shit you shouldn't have bought! I have 8 of them, using 6 constantly, leaving one to plug in the charger for my wireless mouse sometimes and the other for sticks or external. If someone is too dumb to install the microphone, chances are he knows who could do it for him, you know, there are a few tech-impaired ones on the net, too! Help them guys! (edit: a friend of mine got a headset from me because he was annoyingly stating he can't join our TS without a working one...took him 6 months to actually instal it. Lazy guy...also, in a 4-player setting, the only one isolated from the rest...(we played other games, though, not dayZ) ) Playing this without a mic is not an option for me. Although banning people who don't have a mic from your clan seems harsh!
  2. A vehicle can use an old batery for years, as it recharges it while driving, remember? Otherwise, an aimpoint-sight runs on a single battery for years, too. So basically, we are only talking about flashlights, nightvision, and rangefinders,as well as special scopes (FN/FAL ANPVS and L85 thermal). I would definitely second the bayonets idea though!! Had this myself, but in Arma2 it seemed unreasonable. Also, radio station broadcasting would be cool...and working radios, of course! And as lategame-elements, getting "stuff" of civilization working again...like electricity or water supply to the houses...to repair, secure and maybe even zombie proof a powerplant would be brutally hard, but kinda cool. Plus customizable vehicles, like with armor on the sides and front, as we see it on a lot of zombie movies...

    Solution to +1 murder when returning fire

    A grenade is always a murder, seriously! You don't just throw it as a "warning"... Just deal with the fact that, no matter who started it, the one who kills the other one effectively commits murder...in self defense, but yeah. Don't try to make the game judge. It will not work. Although shooting someone in the back should subtract more humanity than from the front or sides (I feel that is already the case?). The hitbox seems like a neat idea, but what category will you put in "murder in self defense"? It will still have to subtract humanity, but less, there I agree!

    Modification to Kill Messages

    Why would you add additional information? It is a funny thing that anyone on the server should know that some guy died somewhere anyway! Some servers have death-messages disabled completely (Veteran and expert mostly). OK, I would really like to get one addtional piece of information though: "xyz was killed" vs. "xyz died". Display the first one if eaten by zombies or shot by player, the 2nd one if dropped from ledge, bled to death or froze or starved or whatnot.

    Remove the AS50/M107?

    At least the AS50 is way overpowered, mainly because it makes just a soft "plop" as a sound, which in its volume is comparable to a bubble gum bubble blasting. The gun has obviously an invisible silencer...that is the only explanation! I mean, srsly, talk about realistic simulation and stuff, anyone who has ever fired a .45 revolver knows how f***ing loud it is. This thing should be volume-adjusted and both M107 and AS50 made a little rarer, thats all. If you take them out of the game, next complaints are about DMR and M24. So keep them, and adjust them...

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

    since the new arma II beta patch came out the artifacting didn't occur anymore at my machine, and the game had been unplayabale because of them in version .2.4. anbd now .2.5!! Maybe theres hope? With my machine, flushing only makes the issue worse, and MUCH worse! Quitting the game and rejoining wokrs though, glitches DO NOT return for me, not even after 2 hours. The main issues might just be the complete inaccesibility of vehicles in this version. Every server restart the vehicles return to their spawn. Makes finding them easy, but you need to find 4 tires, eninge block, fuel tank parts and scrap metal all over, plus the filling with the jerry cans. AND the tents do not save donkey-sh**! These issues are the gamebreakers, a hotfix would be cool! Also, Ammo in your backpack still returns to full clips after you join next time...so ammo is still plenty! My Graphics data: Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 (GT200 GPU, 896 MB RAM, driver version nvlddmkm 7.15.11.8120 (ForceWare 181.20), for Win Vista 64bit (=my system)), directx etc. are up toi date, the driver is from 2009, because the generic drivers are generally not compatible with my monitor (will be fixed by getting a new graphics card...)). Maybe this info is of any use...I could post screeners, but I am too lazy for fraps...

    Pro Tips! Post Pro Tips Here!

    Some "workarounds" for known bugs: 1) Before you change into camo clothing or a ghillie suit, drop your backpack. Do not do this in a wood, as your pack will often evaporare. Mostly it is not gone though, the game places it AT THE NEAREST POINT OUTSIDE the wood! so search the lawns if it happens. To safely put down a backpack: be 2 m away from any building or whatever object in the grass, drop an object to make aloot pile (I use painkillers, they are a large white box, easily locatable to pick up later), then drop the backpack on there. get in your suit and put it back on, enjoy! Sometimes you will find backpacks in town but you are not able to select them to pick up! The reason: You need to remove ALL loot items lying underneath it! THEN you can pick up the backpack. Backpack sizes are: coyote PATROLpack: 8 slots, czech backpack: 16 slots, alice pack: 20 slots; coyote BACKpack: 24 slots. 2) Do NEVER put a weapon in a backpack that is too full, as it despawns!! You need 10 free slots for a main weapon, 5 for a handgun. Same is true for ammo clips etc; if put into a backpack whgich is full, objects get lost! 3) do not enter buildings prone, or at least do not turn around too much in these buildins or doorways, this should prevent bone breakings. 4) If your legs are broken and you need to go up a stair in a barn (or any broad stairway...), lie down sideways in front of it and strafe up. 90% gets you up without any more bonebreaking...wait, you already got that...soooo... 5) If you find a weapon that is definitely not in the game (a hacked gun, like AS50 with htermal or G36 rifle), do not log out with htis weapon in your inventory, do not kill anyone with it. just drop the damn thing in a bush or hide the body it was on after looting it. Other stuff: 6) You can figure out "north" using only a watch, which is easier to find in supermarkets in comparison to a compass. Look up the tutorial in youtube. Works in real life, too! 6.1) Clouds in Chernarus only travel from west to east. 7) To get military grade weapons, try the station houses in Elektro or Cherno. In Cherno, do not forget to check the town hall building, and there are two hospitals, plus medical tents. just north of the medical tents there are 2 military tents. The northwestern hospital in Cherno has three or four large red brick houses around it, too. They are all enterable and have sick loot the the brim!! And be aware of bandits...Sacriel42 did a nice beginner's video to loot Elektro on youtube.

    Younger Group Wanted

    Don't get me wrong, but if you nare not of 18 years of age you shouldn't play ARMA II anyways...at least that's what the German FSK says. It is not suited for you! This game is pretty violent, promotes violence as a way of problemsolving, and the dayZ scenario alone is frightening to start with...if you ae aware that guns are only "cool" in games, this is ok...but at age 10, who lets you play a shooter?? I am not talking about ages 14-18, I played "Doom" back then, when it came out (yes, I am old enough to anyone's dad here ^^) and was hardly older then. Oh, and about "not the same age group": It is just that the understanding of tactical decisions, which might be vital in dayZ or other games, is too much of a challenge for a 12 year old. No offense, but the logical reasoning skills are not fully developed at that age, even when someone told you ur IQ is at 180 and you just started college at age 12. You are lacking any kind of experience, especially concerning social interactions! THAT is why we old guys don't like you in our midst. We have to babysit our own little ones, no need to do this online, too ;-)

    @PoisonedAl: Your comment wasn't very constructive or useful, tell me about that... But as HerrJon put it, find ways to cope with the situation. I haven't been hacked so often...happened a few times, but really, if the server-admin is vigilant, this should happen less. Last time there were 2 hackers, but only because there was a guy livestreaming on twitch and people thought it funny to streamsnipe him (and the entire server). The admin contacted him about that..."one does not simply show what server you are streaming on" ...the whole server had to be restarted. ;-) Usually the "invisible" cheaters are just your good ol' Ghillie-Snipers in the nearby bushes, I want to point this out, too. I recently got shot on a server with 9 people on it, 3 of whom were in my TS channel. I was running through the woods in the middleof absolutely nowhere and got DMR-sniped. This just happens.

    Everybody is a enemy

    I usually give them a chance to show what they are up to.I do not shoot without reason. In three weeks, I have accumulated three murders total, two in self-defense during an intense firefight near Stary/in Cherno and one in a damn wood near a barn, where the guy randomly opened fire at me with his double-barreled. The last one I regret, after firing my M14 he ran away, I shot him anyways...the only real murder in dayZ for me. I had dozens of encounters. Some people I teamed up with I play with every now and again up until now! Fellow survivors who will not shoot a noob with a winchester in Cherno, but keep a vigilant eye on rooftops for snipers...these we seek and kill...policing Cherno ;-) . Of course we too, die a lot. But who cares? I like the teamplay aspect, I like the tension that arises from the question "Can I trust this guy?" . Whenever I get called in to help, I am there. It is much more rewarding I guess for me, even if your 5th patient is a bandit and kills you after being transfused... ^^

    This game is ruined by cheaters

    It pisses you off, yes...but I had two occasions where the hackers didn't do much...one time we were all sent flying...to die on the ground on impact I guess. I managed to log out just above ground, log back in and survive. I told everyone still on the server where our bodys lay and guarded them...got everything back! I was the only one who survived this, sadly... The other time I killed a guy with a silenced rifle that is not even in the game....he obviously forgot to turn himself invincible...so teleporting on top of the to0wer on green mountain and having a silenced killer gun with 10 (!!!) clips of ammo didn't save him from my AKS-bulletzs...this tells you a lot about who these guys are. Losing your gear is normal in this game, anyway. I like the searching for stuff best... ;-) Treat these hackers like you would a random lightning strike that kills you...just a mere nuisance.

The humanity was re-introduced, it was in the game before...nothing new, was counted in the background anyways, now it is just displayd again, including the easy-to-get bandit status and the very-hard-to-get gero status, which is new. The hackers are a problem, but a vigilant server-admin should be able to kick them out. from my usual server there were 25-30 bans in the last 3-4 days alone. 2 of the guys were reported, too, and should by now have to buy a new version of arma to be able to play... The problem seems to be that your playstyle is very vulnerable to disruption (i.e. you only feel like actually playing when you are fully equipped...). The challenge would be to have fun anyways...I dont care much if I ddie, except it is through some arse who stabs me in the back when I got him a bloodbag...THATs annoying, these poor hackers are just trying to compensate an overall lacvk of balls. I played counterstrike for years, and hackers were omnipresent (except for LANs ^^) and really really annoying, too! Thats not new to Arma.

    Worst Way You Ever Died

    The worst time I had when I was in Cherno as a fresh noob. I was a survivor aof 5 days though! I had an axe, and a G17 piustol with 2 clips, just aqcuired from the military tents in Cherno, plus all kinds of equip...I had some Zeds chasing me (noob that I was) and fired my G17 empty...then luckily at 8000 blood, I found an AKM! Great. Suddenlay a voice behind me...Friendly...we run through town, gather stuff, he has an Enfield...bad thing to fire, that. So he fires it, during the most heavy lag ever experienced in all dayz (that famous day of the d-dos that lasted hours and hours...) and we have to run to the piers, shoot more than 50 Zeds. But I get hit a lot, at about 2500 blood we decide to go back to ther medical tents. There we give each other blood packs. We log out, to meet again, including TS-server, the next day. I log out in a military tent in Cherno...when I log back in, I am lying prone on a street in Cherno, with 2500 blood, no ammo...and cursing. I drag myself to the hospital in thze outskirts. Suddenly a random stranger comes by and shoots me with his revolver...dayz at its best... ;-)

    Day Z bugs are going to lead me to quiting Day Z!

    It has never been said that features are completed. There is currently no "late-game"... Has this forum turned into a looney-bin full of f***ing retards who can only complain about the same shit again and again? What is even the purpose of your post??? Whining? Pleaaase...we all know this, we all had this...deal with it. btw...in the description (you should read the "readme" file!) it lists "balls" as a requirement to play... ^^ ;-) If you want to criticize, do it constructively. You are aware that this Alpha is not made available by a "Developer", as stated in your quote above, but by a few nutty guys around this Rocket-guy who program this mess on an engine developed for an entirely different game by a publisher who just announced a standalone game-version is going to happen. Just log back in, say in 4 weeks time? Maybe a lot of stuff is fixed by then... When I think back to Counterstrike...beta 4 had all wepaons lying on the floor at the start of next round...it was e mess...but it became the game we played later, much later...

    FIX THE TENTS.

    ermagherd...tents MUST be fixed, this is important, AND YES, gamebreaking. I know a guy who has started duping guns once he found them, BECAUSE he knew tents were buggy...so he had the same duped wepaon in several tents, in order not to lose it. Had a great discussion about that with him, now he won't use duped gear on the clan-server in question...I put up a tent myself, which swallowed everything, like a pig does leftover foods...no matter if I saved it or not, no mater if server restarted or not...

    Not too weirtd, though, I spent some time shooting people on the roofs of elktro myself, but I limited myself to people with decent guns in hand, which I think are usually only there to snipe survivors. This gets you bandit-kills almost exclusively...now I have 2 of those ;-), counting overall lives. ;-) But sometimes people are that dumb...why did he even hack you when you had nothing? If you had a ghillie-suit (which cannot be looted when worn) and a decent gun, ok...but this? This senseless and mindless killing of noobs on the beach ruins the game a bit...

    Easy Solution to Solve Many Problems

    atm at least I have to try and connect to half a dozen servers at least whenever I start...and sometimes I don't even remember which one I joined. Sometimes servers get abandoned...I do not want to start anew time and again....this qould totally wreck the "immersion" some people are talking about....you spawn on the beach...wait, didn't I have a AKM last time? wtf? AND it would lead to constant server population maybe, but these people would mostly have good gear, and the "newcomers" would be shot on the beach, mostly (not that different now, I know). We had fun on a freshly-restarted server, 5 guys talking over VOIP ...on a nighttime-server hosting 35/40 players. But my gear was from another server entirely, where I have my tent etc...I know this gets abused...but having people to need to restart anew every time I log onto a new server? Bitch please ^^ ;-)
  18. omfg U didn't just recommend a stupid point system for killing players? damnit...this game needs to have NOTHING of an achievement system, if it was goping to be about survival, about the ecperience.... I like the new patch, but this might be because I am lucky enough to nearly always have at least a sidearm. Zombies are really hard to predict...sometimes going prone seems to have the effect of fireing the damn enfield ^^ But the Zeds not hearing through walls is superb, now preventing them from entering through walls and closd doors would be awesome. The game is going in a good direction, buit when you play on a tam, it gets boring soon insofar as you do net have "quests", whatever they maybe. but you can always find some for yourself!! That is what this game's about. I wouldn't mind a well.hideable tent-like entity, though... and if bugusing spiols your damn game, why in the name of holy F*** did you do it??! It will be fixed, I am sure...but damn it, you choose to do it yourself!!

    Multiple Suggestions for Game Mechanics

    To put it in other words: 1) Fix the Zombies... (I bet they are on that). 2) Put less sniper rifles in (I am bad at using them, so I am goin to say....okay, but they ARE rare, at least the good ones) 3) More skins...should be not too difficult. What all of you are missing: There are serious bugs in the game atm, that stuff needs to be fixed first. My backpack keeps etaing my AKs and other guns, so do tents...damn it. I would second the notion of disabling player names at all, but then we need skins, or a pak of more than 2 people can never ever work. Also, we need to have conssitent skins. Atm everyone lloks different to everyone else...I might be wearing black, but another guy sees me weariung white t-shirt and blue pants...wtf? THIS needs to be corrected before new skins appear, otherwise chaos breaks loose..."I am a guy in blue pants an green shirt" "I only see one with a black jacket!" [shoots him] ^^
