They still see over the obstacle, the door is open or closed. That might not be very important now, but may be in the future, when the doors would be lockable etc. imho.
-
Again, this should be so. Exactly for this purpose the walkie talkies are intended. And, a very good suggestion about "clothes and stuff"... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/164383-simple-buddy-system/?p=1660849

Additionally i see here some variability in playstyle. Beside the dimension, the carbine have less weight (that might be important in future), reloading of a cartridge must be somewhat faster, than on current sniper variant of Mosin-Nagant (due straight grip bolt), also reloading of a clip must be a little faster, because on a carbine there is no intervening riflescope. Also, if in future we see a butt stroke, then in relative size of the damage (by one hit) i suggest something so - from full-size Mosin - 2.0, from carbine and (possible)SKS - 1.9, from wood butt AK-74 - 1.7, from folding butt AK-74 and from M4 - 1.5.

What DayZ also needs to be even more realistic?
gregor (DayZ) replied to Otis.Driftwood's topic in Suggestions
DayZ really need more forest areas. Also more the dense forests. Alder groves, the spinney, the fallen trees. And some bogs, with cranberries, blackberries, lingonberries. To pass through a swamp, you need to find a hand drawn map in an abandoned hut near a swamp. -
Yep, there is differences, that why carbine was developed. The carbine was more usable in forest and in buildings (though system of collision need to be reworked). But, even more, these carbines are still in service, by non-departmental guard services in Russia and in Ukraine.

There might be different reasons. Maybe the Soviet (or Russian) army withdrew its troops from Chernarus with all high-level military equipment. Except small arms, like AK-74 and Makarovs. And the army of Chernarus had to buy used Humwees, Unimogs...what else. Though i want in DayZ more soviet civilian trucks. Just some reliable diesel trucks. Dumper (or other versions) MAZ 503 And GAZ 66-40(41). Especially good in the variant with a KUNG ("a metal or fiberglass roof on the body"). As the mobile base.

DayZ should be set in Autumn - here's why...
gregor (DayZ) replied to Roshi (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I also see the Cherno time as August or early September. What about seasonal changes, i guess there might be some obstacles. Firstly it seems to be technical question. But even without it is problems with the zeds. They are living organisms, like people. And like people, they are weak against a harsh nature. A few weeks of winter and the zeds would be dead. That don't fit with this game. Therefore i suggested additional map/extension(accessible through passes and tunnels) behind the northern Mountains (which also need to be done). Something like this -
Then in game is needed also the gnats, bot flies, horse-flies, who especially love naked people. Mm, the game becomes harsh..
-
Yep. And it must be so. Player can kill in battle enemy squad member and steal its uniform, bandanas etc. More tactical variety in game. If other members are a such stupid, that don't see (or hear) some differences, then they deserved to die, imho.

Why is it so hard to implement a logout timer?
gregor (DayZ) replied to apme123's topic in General Discussion
As already mentioned, it's alpha and many features is not yet implemented. Logout is a bigger theme, than only a timer. Maybe it would be tied with such feature as "sleeping", when player must lie down somewhere in safe place and then wait a timer (15-30 sec). Logically he must have possibility to interrupt this timer by slightly moving a mouse. The main problem - there isn't so many safe places. I mean underground "bunkers" or especially the attics in residential houses. These would be best places "to sleep" - logout. IMHO. -
Yep, as heard rumours, IZH 43 (double-barreled shotgun) will come into game. (Though Standalone Wiki describe it as WWII era shotgun, which is nonsense, it was constructed in 1984.) Also i hope to see in game a rare MP40. It too fit good here and uses 9mm Para ammo. I guess, for lefthanded shoot from it wouldn't be also no problem.

Baltic states is in NATO, isnt this involved? And that's Georgian army
-
And? I talked about armed forces. Baltic states and Georgia have such weapons. AR-15 i only mentioned.
-
Chernarus isn't Russia. But some a fictional ex-soviet state. Is in some ex-soviet states M16 or M4? Yes. At least in Baltic states and Georgia (country). Though not in all as main weapon of armed forces. But this not make them as unrealistic in ex-soviet area. Plus also semi-automatic AR-15 rifles for hunters, which are buyable even in Russia, which have a very restrictive gun law. Hey, even Russian arms factories make such semi-automatic weapons. http://www.ordvor.com/goods/index.php?productID=143087
-
Though i don't see much possibilities to using such weapons in DayZ yet, however IF something is coming, then this gun seems to fit, somewhat. Soviet riot shotgun KS-23 (KC-23) , 23 mm rifled barrel shotgun. This weapon uses various ammunition - buckshot, rubber bullet, plastic bullet, tear gas etc etc. Here you see it in Arma 2 (albeit with annoying music)

Dental Hygiene (Not as bad as you think)
gregor (DayZ) replied to green_machine's topic in General Discussion
Chewing gum? Soviet ones. -
I guess, this would be good addition. Why restrict people from playing offline? Though here is some problems. If you want to formally announce single player mode, then some people will find, that they have been cheated by the absence of NPC survivors. But as in the main game the NPC survivors is not intended, then allocating resources under it would look like like squandering. But as training mode with zeds and animals, alone (or co-op with wife or buddy), why not.

Partially i agree. Which part? Cherno needs many recognizable places, like some abandoned pubs, bars, nosheries etc. (but with different nameplates). If someone was played Operation Flashpoint, then maybe he remembers last mission, about meeting with comrades in a pub. (Yes, maybe not too many action, but still as attempt to be close to realism). And because Dayz is presumed to be a place to many stories by people, they need more landmarks, not only names of cities and villages. What about weapons, if you invite some people to meet and give them guidances, then that depends by you. Again, depends on what kind of meeting - with comrades, or with the unknown traders of guns, ammo, drugs etc.
-
I support this. Maybe also add the last breath.
-
Again, i am not against berets. These might be even some civilian berets. I don't see point to tie this stuff with russian military berets (which really are for SF men). Airborne, marines, spetsnaz of internal forces, spetsnaz of border troops. Also as a headwear of female uniform in some military service. OK, is also pure red berets of ministry of emergency situations of Russia.
-
I'm not so certain, that we see in SA any working helicopters. Although that something that can fly, seems there will be.
-
Chernarus isn't Russia. Also Wikipedia isn't always correct. The berets still mostly used only by special forces guys, not by whole army. And it isn't pleasant to these guys, when someone wear their berets, without being part of those forces (or a veteran). That might be fatal in post-apocalyptic Chernarus. But here is other possibilities. Is a lot of shops of second-hand clothes, where are on sale many pieces of clothes and uniforms (also from western armies etc). Such berets is very cheap...Why not implement them, they add more possibilities to identifications..

Without a working central system of water supply in towns, I doubt that in houses there are working sinks. Though depends by a story. What about the wells, then to add a random element, there might be announcements of infection, every restart of server on the different wells.
-
This would be a cool feature, imho. As well there might fit then also such things as FOOTWRAPS (or foot cloths).
