You need to own both Arma 2 and Operation arrowhead (known as combined operations when bought together), you also need to run each game once normally through steam before you try to play DayZ. When you first run the game Steam writes the game serial into your registry. Hope this helps.

Normally when i change backpacks i transfer my gear to the new one before i pick it up, then theres no worries of anything falling through the ground or vanishing mysteriously. Just a bit of advice for next time, until its fixed. Sorry for your loss :(

I was going to buy it shortly after it was released, but was put off by the torrent of complaints about the games abundant bugs, glitchy AI and other such annoyances. As it was it could have been a huge hit if it hadnt launched with that amount of problems. Aside from that I can easily forgive DayZ of its bugs as its in alpha and is free, not to mention i dont find that the bugs still present detract from the pleasure i get from playing something as unique as it is. In DayZ death comes for us all, sometimes the reaper is clad in the cloak of a ghillie suit, other times it swings the scythe of flawed code: either way I know that i am going to lose my stuff sooner or later, so I try not to lament it too much ~all part of the game.

Ive used fraps and dxtory before, fraps was fine and dxtory crashed me once but aside from that no bans. Also the thousands of DayZ videos on youtube show that if there is a chance of fraps getting you banned, it must be infinitely remote. That said, if you were truly banned for using it, you have my condolences, if you contact the battleye people they may be able to help you.

Im afraid u hit the nail on the head here, although the game creators are still rolling out patches to help fix as much as they can. Let's be honest here, the game itself wouldnt have sold as many copies as it has without the advent of DayZ

I've heard some people say that they do it to exploit the nerd reaction to women "ohmagawd its a reel gurl have mah babiez plis" which might prevent or at least delay them shooting at them, allowing them to get the upper hand. As sad as it sounds, some boys out there on the interwebs are desperate and gullible enough for something like that to work.Or perhaps they would just rather sit and stare at a woman character as they play, even one as plain as that skin.

Have you tried putting it in your backpack (if its big enough - or drop it somewhere briefly) and picking it up again? Swapping to pistol and back? Mash F key to swap between flares/weapon/other stuff?

This sort of thing is rife now, as well as passworded servers, and the wonderful experience of being kicked by admin as soon as you join so he and his friend can farm alone without anyone bothering them (this one seems to be happening more and more now, they probably feel theyre less likely to be blacklisted for it).
