Do you have the steam version of combined ops? Were there any error messages from battleye when it was installing? Are you using Six Launcher? Anything else of note you remember happening when u installed? -

Best check your six launcher options to make sure "force enable beta patch" and "update beta patch" are both ticked. -

I recall going into a fairly large town not so long ago, everything was fine until i was hitting my last building to loot, started to lose a few frames. As i was on the way out my framerate took a massive dive, and there was an awful LOT of zombies all over the place. Im thinking that possibly my pc either just didnt like rendering so many or theres something gone awry with the way your computer handles them. Just a guess so dont shoot me if im wrong :P Intel i7-2600k @3.4ghz Geforce GTX 560 8gb ram Windows 7 64bit Edit: General fps responsiveness has definitely dropped, perhaps due to the new graphics options put in? -

Have you run arma 2 by itself via steam and then run arma 2: OA by itself through steam? (first time each is run, steam writes the relevant cd key/serial to your computers registry). -

I have to say that the one thing that will put you at a fairly severe disadvantage is lowering your view range, I'd much rather lower detail and shadows and put up with a slightly lower framerate than have a shorter view range than other players. In this game half the fight is seeing someone before they see you, especially with the KOS attitude running rampant. There are a couple of comprehensive tweak guides out tehre, both ingame settings and cfg/ini file settings, all of which can add up to a huge performance boost, so I would recommend giving them all a go and see where u stand then. Run arma 2 vanilla through steam, then run Arma2:OA through steam, then install six launcher and let it install all the mod gubbins. Launch the game through six launcher and give it a go. Hope it works! -

I thought a good way to stop ghosting might be to give servers a 15-20 minute "memory" of every player who leaves, and their last location. If a player rejoins within that deadline and their location from the hive doesnt match the server record then that player is forced to spawn in that last known location, which is then updated back to the hive again. After the deadline has passed the record of the player is deleted. -

Rocket and his team didnt see a penny of that money spent on Arma, so considering the time and effort theyre putting into the project i wouldnt mind buying a "finished" standalone product, as long as it wasnt extortionately priced. -

Theres a guide somewhere about farming loot spawns, and apparently it was still working last patch. Something about removing everything from the loot piles in nwaf barracks so they can respawn again after 10 minutes. Havent done it myself as i dont really play with enough people to hang around places like that for very long. Theres a bunch of things u need to do for it to work so if youre interested youll have to do a search. -

Have u tried tapping left click first before u try aiming down it (careful with this: do it away from possible aggro and not pointing at anyone u know). -
I think it may be random, ive had zombies respawn on me in as little as 20 seconds before, sometimes a couple of minutes.

Like i said u need to run both games through steam first, without the mod active, this loads the serials into your computers registry. Then run six launcher and join a server using that, hope it works. -

All i can suggest is make sure youve run both arma 2 and arma 2 oa by themselves without dayz through steam itself, then run dayz directly through the six launcher, rather than any steam shortcuts you are currently using. -

Neither of which i had anything to do with implementing, I am of course speaking from a "realism" point of view, which this game is apparently aiming for. Any kind of safe that would be big enough to hold anything bigger than a pistol would certainly weigh more than one person could actually carry ~ they have to reinforce the floors in areas that most safes are placed. As i said already, being able to bury items in the ground would be a much simpler solution, and also more elegant, not to mention realistic. Make it so each burying leaves a small patch of disturbed earth behind, just a decal really. that way someone has to make an effort to remember exactly where they left their items, but there is still a chance that someone else may find it.

Any safe worth using would be far too heavy to carry any distance, personally i think that a more likely option used in the wild would be to either bury your items in a container or bag, or hide them in a tree (both options actually used in real life).

As far as i know your character is tied to your cdkey, so it sounds like you used the wrong one. There should be a few key changers out there on the ole googlenator. -

Personally ive not met a single person in this game that didnt start shooting on sight, but from what ive read it seems like for every good deed done there are 20 or so corpses filling the air with flies. As has been mentioned before, there are a lot of reasons to shoot someone on sight, but very very few not to. Would be nice if there was some sort of mechanic implemented to balance the scales a bit, personally i thought a "psychotic break" meter might work fairly well. The more you murder the more your conscience eats at you, making you slowly lose your mind. Small symptoms at first like shaking/heavy breathing/panic attacks, followed by something more serious like hearing noises or even seeing the ghosts of your victims walking around in the distance. Obviously the effects would decay with time spent being "good". But aside from all that yeah, says a lot for human nature where you allow people freedom of choice in a sandbox style game and they exercise their freedoms by burying an axe in your head. :P -
From what i understand melee weapons arent supported by the arma 2 engine at all, the current weapons are actually silenced weapons with an incredibly short range, and a different skin applied. Part of the reason you have to reload your hatchet before use, and why it makes that odd noise when u hit a zombie with it.

Makeshift Suppressors.

Currently supressed weapons require matching ammunition of the SD variant. Just did a couple of minutes cursory research on this and it seems you can muffle the sound of a gunshot with a plastic bottle filled with newspaper securely taped to the barrel, but the shot will NEVER go where you are aiming due to passing through the plastic. Also it would only work once. So yeah, nice thought i guess but impractical and not really worth implimenting when there are already silenced weapons available.
