  1. I think he was reffering more to the fact that half of the things you were commenting on have in fact already been mentioned as in development by rocket in a recent interview. Knowing this would have been the "research" that he reffered to. It's also been suggested by Rocket that he would like to put systems into the game by which people can set a lot of things up how they want to. Along the lines of say, u want to create an oasis of civilization in the sea of the apocalypse? Ok you can go and do that, but then you will have to defend it against anyone else who wants to see it burn. Please please please remember that at the end of the day(Z), this game is about surviving during an ongoing zombie apocalypse. You should be fearing for your life, not trying to set up the new world order.
  2. Some of the things you have suggested have already been mentioned by rocket in his recent AMA question session, but i have to say some of the other things you mention go completely against the grain of a survival game.
  3. If you had read the part in brackets you might understand what I meant. So far I've fallen prey to hackers a few times after I ignored the early warning signs, and later thought "I wish I had left as soon as i thought something odd was going on". Nowhere did I say "switch server every time you hear a piece of ambient sound". Hackers are not in all of the servers all of the time, watching for the signs wont make you immune but it will certainly cut down on the amount of bullshit you have to put up with.
  4. The new patch isnt "officially" out due to needing more testing, so it wasnt seeded to six launcher yet. I know you can get it via DayzCommander, and I think six's new project (play with six i think?), has a new feature to let you use experimental patches. So basically SIX will load up what it thinks is the current version (1.7.2.4), even if you have manually patched to 1.7.2.5.
  5. So after you were killed by hackers again and again you thought they might stop when u were stashing vehicles? Sounds like It'd be more likely you would be targeted really. Hacking is becoming a major problem, don't expect to be able to stash up all kinds of vehicles and equipment and still have it the next day. That said, not all vehicle and tent disappearances are caused by hackers. An awful lot of people out there are farming camps rather than risking high end loot spawns. You think you found a super-secret hiding spot that no one else could have thought of? Think again my friend, if you've thought of it then everyone else has as well. All of that aside, if you want to minimise your chance of having a hacker take a giant shit over your game time, then I would suggest staying away from high-population servers that are full or nearly at capacity, as these are just the kinds of servers that hackers target so as to piss off as many people as they can. Also if you see or hear ANYTHING that is even slightly out of the ordinary, log out and go somewhere else (large amounts of livestock in one place, dogs, chunks of people dying at one time, zombies aggroing onto nothing at all, flying saucers ~u know the drill). Good luck
  6. Terrible idea, the coast would degenerate into deathrace 2000. I heard theyre going to make cars more common, but petrol rarer, which would make more sense considering the setting.
  7. Collateral damage I guess, they may even have been together.
  8. They have to be tough otherwise whats the point in playing at all? Most people want to play the game and have fun, others want to get ahead or troll by cheating/hacking/exploiting. If people weren't punished for it then the whole system would degenerate into who has the best hacks. As far as global bans go, I believe they are permanent from battleye. If you genuinely didnt modify your own files and this is a bug (im skeptical: can't blame me all things considered), then if you explain to the battleye people they may lift it.
  9. Could be people deleting their grass and trees?
  10. Any chance u missed it and someone else got it?
  11. 1 hit, logs out, friend patches them up in another server and they carry on. Not picking at you here, just seen it happen too much recently.
  12. Someone shot you in the leg with a silenced weapon? Hackers with their scripting bs? Sniper got you? Or maybe just another bug.
  13. M24 does the same damage as the DMR, if you got a one hit kill then it was either a headshot or the target wasnt at full health.
  14. Usually it happens when you logged out previously whilst in shock (broken plug icon to the right), after that even if u wait for each timer to end before next logout, it seems to punish you with it again next logon. Wears off after a day or so in my experience.
  15. Considering the amount of alt+f4ing going on, it may be more beneficial to be able to put out a second shot much faster with the dmr to help ensure a kill. I'm using the m24 at the moment and i really like the gun itself, but I miss a lot of kills because I'm not great at getting headshots with my first shot past ~500m, especially with a moving target.
  16. 1.7.2.5 is in limited release. I read your post 5 times and I'm still thinking... what?
  17. If you've been using a third party launcher (six/DayzCom) You should be able to right click arma 2 OA in steam library and hit Launch Combined Operations. Should give you access to OA content just fine without Dayz stuff, unless you've been monkeying around with your files and shortcuts.
  18. How are you launching the game? Is it Steam? Six launcher?
  19. Just goes to show that u can never really know what kind of people your friends are, not truly deep deep down. I think immaturity will make probably make some people more likely to be untrustworthy. Brings back to mind the old line from people defending their hacker "friends" : "He's my friend he wouldnt do it, I've known him for years". Goes to show how gullible some people can be, although i think that may be human nature. You want your friends to be honourable and true, so you do half the job for them by imagining it to be so. As far as being shit on by someone you considered to be a friend, it's never nice when it happens, you have my condolences.
  20. Might be a network conflict your end, have you got upnp and nat enabled?
  21. Sounds like bullshit, but lets run the usual spiel anyway shall we? As posted a thousand times already, you will NOT be banned for being in possession of hacked items. You WILL be banned for creating them. Battleye will also pay closer attention to your character if you are in possession of illegal items. I think the question you really need to ask yourself is SHOULD you take and use that weapon? Will taking and using a hacked weapon that legitimate players do not have access to enhance your gameplay past the point that morale questions won't balk you at all?
  22. And any update that is "rushed out" will never cause more problems than it fixes, will it? Also to say that 50% of all users are having the problem is a stupidly arbitrary number, half a million users are having these problems, are you sure about that? I'd prefer to deal with the problems temporarily my end, and wait for a decent tested fix, rather than see the mod makers cave in to a rabble on the forums and rush out a fix and watch 10x more problems surface. There is a decided lack of patience and people willing to search, think, test, and fix their own problems in this thread.
  23. Sorry if I seemed a bit blunt. As it stands there have been a lot of suggestions how to stop the whole alt+f4 thing, but most of them aren't possible until the standalone comes out due to limitations of the Arma2 engine.
  24. About a second more. Not much of a fix really.
