I just found this thread. It is new and exciting to me. I hope the server gets blacklisted and I hope the admins get banned for being pussy douchebags. I'm a new player and do you know how I am learning? I am getting my ass handed to me at every corner by bandits. If you want to teach people how to play then and I quote (Major Payne) "pop yo titty out his mouth and stop babying him". If you want a peaceful server then go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure. This is the dumbest shit I have seen all day.

So I've been playing ARMA back since it was OFP and own everything Bohemia has done with it. I found out about DayZ about a week ago and figured I'd give it a shot. All I can say is that I am impressed. No game has gotten my heart pounding this hardcore since the first Silent Hill. Most of the time I am wandering around mucking things up for myself but right now I am still alive after a few hours. Earlier I was on the east coast doing well and gathering all the bare necessities so I could gtfo of populated areas. Was minding my own business when all of a sudden everyone on the server died simultaneously. Fucking hackers... anyway I started again and happened to be right next to Cherno. I've done quite a bit of research on the game and decided to head there against my better judgement for some gear. It is night out so getting in was very easy and I find an Enfield and a Makarov. As I am leaving the market out the back door a guy runs in and startles the living bajesus out of me and has a zombie hot on his heals. I watch him for a moment and right as I am about to say something into the mic he turns away from the zombie and looks right at me. I panicked hardcore and emptied my mag into his head and then killed his zombie friend. I immediately felt horrible afterward. He had a revolver which I took in favor of my Makarov and a Winchester which I left on his person. He also had some epeen pens and a blood bag which saved me a trip to the hospital. I hightailed it out of town and headed up to Zelenogorsk where I looted that market and finally had EVERYTHING I need to survive alone. As I was leaving town I checked my map to see where I would head to next and noticed that there were two orange markers moving around on the map labeled "man". They were close together and obviously operating as a team so I gtfo of there as fast as I could too hoping they hadn't looked at their map and seen me. This is my best success so far and I just gutted my first pig as I head north. I guess my only suggestions would be give the starting player more gear. At least give us matches and a hunting knife because I think it is a bit silly to not have basic items like that. It is bad enough you don't start with a weapon. I can deal with that as long as you give me a knife and matches. Also I'd really like a better form of friend/foe identification or a better way to communicate (longer range maybe?). I would really rather not have shot that poor guy but what was I supposed to do? Maybe not punish bad players but reward good ones or something like that would be possible. Great game you guys have made here keep up the great work and thank you for putting the fear of death into me!

Ok well this is odd. I noticed that the nowhere I had been placed in was odd but even more odd was the fact that my stats hadn't changed. I still had several zombie kills and one "murder". So I restarted. Now I am at a noobie starting location with the same stats and all my gear. Very confusing but at least I don't have to start over just yet ;)

Heli guy I will check you out. I just logged back in after the server restarted and was instantly killed and immediately spawned in the "wilderness" next to another survivor and a dead survivor. Frustrating that all my work this morning was wasted and I have no idea why I even died.

Lol I've already been bandited a few times. I'm learning where and what and times to avoid very quickly thanks to them. I cannot get enough of this mod. It is so fantastic.
