In addition I'd like to add that technically cannibalism exists, since the zombies will snack on my corpse if I'm stupid or unlucky enough to end up on a grass/tarmac dinner table. So I don't see why it's not possible. Maybe because it is a player's decision to indulge, but the zombies aren't able to know any better?

It could be possible when Dayz is standalone, but at the moment it's restricted to the same limits as the ARMA II engine which doesn't feature limb-specific health and dismemberment. Also dismemberment is frowned upon in some countries, considered too violent and it was already clarified by Rocket that features that wouldn't bypass stricter country's censorship policies won't be added. I asked for cannibalism. I think that's far worse than dismemberment, but my argument was that technically it is already featured, since the zombies already feed on fresh corpses, why can't I. Dismemberment might be seen as worse, since it's more of a focus point for needless excess violence. I like the idea of limb-specific health and or conditions, however it's likely not possible in the current ARMA II engine.

Would cause more lag. Maybe when the code is more streamlined when Dayz is standalone it could be possible.

Don't they ruin every game? You think it's bad in Dayz? You should see the state of the Modern Warfare community, the Source-engine based game community, and the Nintendo Wii online communities. 1/3 games has a hacker. Hacking software is so prolific it's difficult to stop.

Sometimes if you join another server you get your stuff back. Otherwise be thankful you are now free from material possessions.

Servers also have variable restart times. Some restart in 6 hours, some in 12 hours, some once in 24 hours. The game is in Alpha, so it's hard to say if any bugs you come across are because of the game's alpha state or the server is buggy. A very hard question, but in answer, I play mostly on servers that are restarted regularly since it yields more loot and more loot means more fun in shorter time frames and are generally more 'stable'. Note I use the word stable loosely for the aforementioned reasons and in subjective context.

Nope. Can't get gear back. Sometimes gear comes back if you ALT+F4 and join another server. Known issue. Not too common, but it happens. Don't break the first rule and get attached to your gear. Time to find new Lee Enfields and AS50's.

Server running older version of mission file? You should probably delete your mission file and join another server. This item cannot be saved to your inventory I think, since it no longer exists in-game. Possibly an attempt at modding the server to get an unfair advantage? (Not by you obviously, but by admins?)

I ran 6km two nights ago at night. Couldn't see my own ****. Can't see the issue. Didn't need eyes to chop off zombie parts with my trusty axe. That said we didn't get attacked that much. But in each case the zombies were on their backs faster than French girls on first dates.

Find a daylight server, or find nightvision goggles. Ironically, you'll find people bring them out mostly at night, so you should ideally be night-hunting for people with a clear visual advantage over you. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

Seems like D:\Games\Bohemia Interactive\expansion\* files aren't signed by a key acceptable by any server you're joining. I don't know what version you're on, or what version of Dayz of the servers you're joining, but I'd do a clean wipe of all ARMA II data and start again. EDIT: Make sure you've got Combined Ops installed, not just ARMA II or Ops Arrowhead. Both need to be installed. If you've used the Steam version, you need to run EACH game at least ONCE. You don't need to actually play, just launch to start menu and quit on both.
