  1. Since I started playing this game I've seen lots of comments/suggestions regarding changing how the zombies move, their speed, their risk of hitting you unconscious etc. A lot of people also want better weapons at the start of the game, weapon-nerfs to make pvp "better" ... you name it. The most common mistake that people make when they play this game is that they expect it to be just another fps-game. They assume that blood works like "health" does in other games. "WTF A ZOMBIE HIT ME UNCONSCIOUS WHEN I HAD 9025 BLOOD" is classic. In the context of a zombie-apocalypse, the game IS about realism. If somebody would hit you in the face in real life, you could pass out even though you didnt lose any blood prior to the punch. Right? It has happened to me several times and I agree that it's frustrating but it's not the games fault. It's MY OWN fault for going in there like that and not being careful enough. You make mistakes and you learn. I actually really like the huge risk of dying to one single zombie because you know what? It feels real and cause panic when a lot of zombies get attracted. You COULD get knocked out, you COULD get a leg broken. The risk is always present. PVP is what players make it. Some people kill on sight, some dont. Keep away from large cities if you dont want to die to other players. It's a risk you need to take into consideration before going into Elektro or Cherno. If you die a lot you are probably doing something wrong. Patience and being careful pays off. Get a knife, matches and an axe and you can go hunting in the woods. Scavange the farmbuildings for supplies and soon enough you can head north. Use shift to sneak and keep an eye on your noise/visibility. The minority of people that dont like the game are the people that are most visible on this forum. I LOVE this game and the realism is what makes this game so good and original. I agree that it does have flaws but I would never want to dumb it down so that it becomes another arcade type Zombie-game where the zombies are just an annoyance instead of something to fear. If you want mutated infected and easier zombies - play Left 4 dead. If you want to spawn closer to where you died - play World of Warcraft. If you want to go hardcore pvp along with who killed who messages - play Arma 2. If you dont like the game, stop playing it.
  2. Make weapon-holstering keybound. Right now everybody is running around with their guns pointed where they look no matter what. This makes a lot of players, including myself, feel threatened when running into a player. Enabling weapon-holstering (or simply lowering it) would make players feel less threaned. So, why would you ever lower your weapon? you might ask. Make it so that you can only sprint while you've got the weapon holstered. Perhaps even make it so that players move 1 bar more silent. This way the holstering would be something that people want to be using in order to slip by zombies faster & undetected. AND players shooting at you will be slower than you. Makes it a bit easier to escape. In addition to this ... Raising your weapon should take 2-3 seconds & make some sound. This way another player would have a few seconds to react before shooting occurs. This by taking cover or trying to shoot back. Optional Automaticly holster weapon when trying to sprint while having it "aimed". While you can lower it with left ctrl, it's not an option that a lot of players are aware of. Neither does it offer you any type of advantage. It's basicly just a stance without any impact in the game since you can still insta-aim. This will not stop senseless murder But will sure as hell lower it by making some situations feel less threatening. Other threads similar There are other threads where a similar suggestion is made but those all want some sort of forced weapon-holstering in a certain zone on the map. That's not what I want. I want it to be optional and give some advantages.
  3. Date/Time: 2012-08-11 Around 16:00 & 15:00 UTC+1 What happened: My screen went black when I got out of a vehicle. At first I thought it was my screen or some cable but when I pressed ctrl+alt+delete I could see the taskmanager just fine. I restarted the game and it was back to normal. This happened twice. Both of the times it happened when I jumped out of a vehicle. Where you were: First I got out of an ATV north of the lone building NE. http://dayzdb.com/map#6.131.019 Later I got out of a boat on the north part of the harbour at Berezino. http://dayzdb.com/map#6.134.052 What you were doing: I simply jumped out of the vehicle and my screen went black. I could still hear everything going on in-game and the game responded to my actions. I could hear my character vault when I pressed V for example. *Current installed version: 1.7.2.5 95883 *Server(s) you were on: SE 9 (private hive) *Your system specs: i7 3770 3,4 ghz 6 GB DDR3 Win7 64 bit AMD Radeon HD 7970 SSD drive *Timeline of events before/after error: We were exploring the north. Found an ATV and I jumped into the driverseat, when I got out everything was black. Restarted my game. Same thing happened the second time with the boat but the boat was working just fine. During this time I was playing with two friends who did not experience the same problem.

Playclaw Test EVGA Gtx 670 FTW Edition

I dont have a 670. And I am not the TS.

Playclaw Test EVGA Gtx 670 FTW Edition

Actually, it's more about the game than the hardware. The more zombies, players, objects and moving vehicles there are on the map the worse your fps will get. I have an i7 with a top tier gpu and I have around 40-50 fps in cities like Cherno & Elektro. Some servers give me 120 fps while I could have 40 on others.

Hey, that looks like every other gameplay-video of DayZ. Pity you can only run it in 10 fps though.

War Z will be infinitely better than Day Z

It's a question of personal taste. This is like arguing over what boyband is the best. I like most zombie-games. I am sure I will like both DayZ and War Z if they both entertain me enough to be worth the money I paid to play them.
  8. I just saw Rocket on Machinima where he says they will introduce a bandit-indicator in this next patch. 39:30 in this video: This is really bad for a number of reasons. Right now, you are scared of other people and you dont really know who to trust. That's good, since you will have to build that trust. Peoples agendas are not visible to you like a TF2-hat. It has a nice psychological impact on you as a player. The bandit-indicator is moving the gameplay away from the realism-aspect of the game and suddenly you magically get a hat from heaven when you kill somebody. Things like this will ruin the immersion and while some players might think this is "cool" it's moving the game towards not feeling like a real thing anymore. People tend to say "Duh, realism? ITS A ZOMBIE GAME". src:http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/597-ai-death-squads-bullet-lethality-and-delayed-disconnect/#entry7140 Rocket spoke of an idea he had a while back - that you would get bloody if you looted a players corpse. That's a much better idea since that doesnt really HAVE to mean that a player is a bandit. Maybe he just found a corpse along the beach and looted it? When another player meets him he might have to explain himself. Why is he bloody like that? Is he bandit? Stuff like that is the really fun part of the game and it adds to the immersion and builds tension. Please, please, please dont add any achievement-style cosmetic changes to the game! Edit: People need to understand that this has nothing to do with "cod kids" or only bandits. This costmetic change applies to everybody and while some people might not think that immersion is an important part of the game, I do. I am not against the indicator in general. I simply just want a realistic change/addition and not an achievement-style change (item appears from nowhere) This costmetic change can be made in different and more realistic ways that will not remove anything from the immersion and at the same time the guys that just want the indicator gets their piece of the cake too. Both parties happy. tl;dr: Dont want achievement-style modelchange. More "realistic" indicator wanted. (Increasing amount of) blood on clothes when looting corpses suggested.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

I am still getting the artifact-disco bug. When I restart my game the disco disappears but after a while it comes back so that I need to restart my game again. The artifacts are black and white and cover my entire screen when it happens. I still think it's the military corpses that do it. No problems with the fences it seems.

You are on the wrong site. http://www.dayzcommander.com
  11. It would explain why not everybody using 95777 was banned. I used it and never encountered any problems. I never pick up hacked weapons. I bury them with the person I found them on.

    THUNDERDOME THURSDAYS

    Dito.
  13. So... the thing you guys got in common is that you were all running 95777 and picked up a hacked weapon at some point?

    You are clearly a moron.

global ban lifted, then banned again?

Do you have any kind of 3rd party software running in the background? Kinda worried the same thing will happen to me since I am using MSI Afterburner and programs alike to view my cpu temperatures / fps.

    Make weapon-holstering keybound

Yes! It's situations like this that could easily happen because you simply point your gun at somebody. Even though you dont really mean any harm it is perceived as a serious threat to other player. They need to make a split second decision that simply comes down to a "me or you"-situation. It's a huge risk to not shoot and that's why most people become murderers in the first place I think. With weapons holstered you could start talking and if that other person decides to bring up their gun then you've got a few seconds to run for it or at least take cover.
  19. JulieMeyers

Change the "has been killed messages"

They should remove the notifiers and the information about the number of kills you've made. This kind of "kill counter" only awards players who enjoy killing others.

    Make weapon-holstering keybound

Read about the advantages in my first post.

    Make weapon-holstering keybound

But moving/left clicking makes it go into instant aim again. I want there to be a small delay so that another player at least got a chance to drop to the floor into cover. When you stop after sprinting you immediately point your gun where you look again. Most players walk around like this all the time. I have never seen a player walk around with a lowered or holstered weapon.
  22. JulieMeyers

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

The problem cant be narrowed down to just an indicator. People will still kill on sight. For example; you cant holster your gun. You point it where you look and then you're just a click away from having better gear (depending on who you look at ofc). I dont know about you but I feel threatened when somebody is pointing a gun at my head. Murders will also drop once people have more stuff to do. Once you have your end-game gear there's not much to do but kill other players. However, this is not what the thread is about. It's about the coming modelchange.

What Has Changed The Dayz Player Mentality

What are you talking about? I saw the statistics and the player number has risen. You are right about that. But the amount of murders is a number that just keeps getting added to. It never gets reset. While time goes by and more players start playing - ofc there's going to be an increase in murders.
  24. JulieMeyers

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

    Interesting. Source of statistics, please?
  25. JulieMeyers

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

According to the official dayzmod.com's statistics there are 133,392 bandits and around 666000 survivors right now. Are bandits really a PROBLEM? They're part of the game. I play a friendly character in the game and I hardly ever get killed. Perhaps you guys are living in Cherno 24/7? It seems you're doing something wrong. Just be careful and keep away from hotspots on the map. It's simple to stay alive. If you see a guy on a mountain aiming towards a city - kill him. It's a bandit. Never run up to somebody with a gun yelling FRIENDLY.
