    I have friendly encounters in this game all the time. All of them might not be so fruitful but it's still friendly. Griefers will still be griefers. Snipers killing newbies from the hills wont be affected at all since they wont even walk down to loot.

    Sigh. Yet another player who cant see my point. Tell me why you are satisfied with this change when it COULD be done in a more realistic manner? I really dont get it. Once this game does have those magic changes you'll soon get an M9 because you killed 5 zombies. It just pops up there. Immersion? Durr hurr. Who needs that. Its a game, right?

    Everybody keeps saying "COD-kids" like it's some universal way of helping them getting their arguments across. Well, guess what - players will ALWAYS kill you on sight and they will do it because it's fun even though there is an indicator. It's actually really ironic. Soon enough this game will just be an uglier version of Call of duty, since people seem to want all of those standard fps-game stuff in there. Kill messages? Check. Blue team vs red team? Check. (scarfs vs hoods) Soon enough we will have a k/d and it'll say m-m-m-monsterkill once you kill somebody. Immersion? Fuck that shit. It's a game. Durr.

    a new view on zombie speed/evading zombies

    No, it makes the game easier and right now it's already easy to get rid of the zombies once you figured them out. I'd like a fatigue-effect on top of the current maximal runspeed. That would make the game a lot harder since you cant just run thru cities like a madman and then take a stop into a bottleneck building once shit gets a bit too hairy.

    1. Good idea 2. BF3-style nameplates? No thanks. 3. No. Too unrealistic. If all of you had gps + maps then yeah. I'd agree. 4. What do you mean? Like a global in-game chat for only the group? Sure, why not. People use VoIP programs anyway. 5. Sounds good.

    Would you not agree that this will remove a bit of immersion from the game? This is certainly not the only way to make the indication. It might be a good for a "test" to see if any kind of indicator would be good but you get what I am saying, right?

    See, I agree with you in some ways. I dont have a problem with there being a way to spot bandits/survivors on sight. I just want the cosmetic change to be something like the bloody clothes I mentioned in my first post. The looting of a fresh body would make you bloody and unless you wash yourselves people might see/assume youre a bandit. When items magically appears on you because you kill somebody - that removes some of the immersion. I know that immersion might not mean a lot to you (since its just a game, like previously stated) but it means a lot to me. This sort of change would get you your costmetic change while it would not ruin the immersion for the people that like it. How's that a bad idea? There is really no need to be insulting like that. We are having a discussion. It doesnt make us mortal enemies. I play the game just like you do. I am always friendly and never KoS even though it has happened to me several times.

    I did not play during that time so I have no idea what you are hinting at. I've seen some players saying that it made "deathmatching" even worse though. Since it created two sides being constantly at war with eachother.

    There is a difference between being a bandit and a griefer. Why would you punish the bandits that way? It's a valid type of playstyle even though it's "evil". I think that players need a selfish reason to not kill other people on sight. Maybe that would involve abilities like Rocket has previously mentioned. Like if you've got a gunshot wound you will need help from a player with a certain ability. That would require you to talk to other people in the game until you find that person. Changes like this would not hurt either side of banditry/survivors nor immersion.

    Exactly. You would get bloody, but you could also wash yourself in water source. Maybe even cause multiple body-loots to cause a bloodier look to your character. The change would not be forced onto the player and you could always wash yourself if you're a bandit before going into a city. If you dont you risk getting shot on sight. Many scenarios open up.

    Most games strive for realism in some way. Look at Battlefield 3 or the much hated Call of duty (sp). In some way or another they try to get that feeling of realism into their games. They dont go "Oh well, this is a game so screw trying to make this car look real. Make it have wings and fly away into space with ponies". You get what I am saying. This argument that most people are using "well its a game so it wont matter" is beyond retarded since nobody is unaware of that fact. What makes this mod so much fun is the realism. If you would start marking players with anything from a hat to a color - that would make this game a deathmatch game. Blue against red, marines vs terrorists etc. Just like EVERY OTHER FPS. You keep yelling "cod kids" while you are cheering on while this game turns into it.
  14. We were playing on DK1 Soeborg and all of a sudden we get the message that BattleEye did not respond. SECONDS after that this happens - http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/59345-invisible-hacker-dk1-soeborg-admin-cheating This happened at about 15:45 UTC+1.

    How will a bandit-skin stop griefing? If I want to snipe new players from a mountain - I will. No matter what skin I have. I dont see Vietnam-vets walking around with hoods they cant take off. I would be okay with some sort of facial change. That would be subtle enough and wouldnt really remove any immersion.

    Yeah, but why make it an achievement-style thing instead of that blood-thing I mentioned in my first post. Wouldnt that be a much better change? That way you never really know peoples agenda but there's a pretty high chance they're a bandit.

    The point of the thread was that I dislike the achievement-style cosmetic changes. That does involve the magic "hero"-skin that you suddenly get. There shouldnt be any 100% sure way of telling peoples agenda.

    You will always die. It's just a question of how. Bandits will still be there, and will still kill you for fun. This "indicator" could be made in a more reaslistic manner and you can read about that in my first post.
  19. There should be a timer where if you die within 10 minutes after spawning, you respawn in the same location. Preventing people from wanting to kill themselves 400 times to get closer to their buddies. That's your punishment for getting yourself killed. Frustrating, but that's how it is.
  20. I am fine with them putting more costume stuff into the lootspawn, but that it would work like some sort of achievement? That's a terrible idea.

    The animation is really well made! But since they move a lot slower it seems like a nerf to the zombies. Maybe if they made this the default animation for in-door movement? Not even sure if that's possible.

    I am not a serverhoster but why is this not a default setting across all servers? By the way, is there any way for me as a player to tell if a server kicks people using wrong signatures?

    Side Chat

    This will not fight the hackers. This will actually encourage hacking since they will get more reactions from their victims. I dislike the idea of the side-chat because of less immersion. Radios or something like that would be nice though.
