Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

Aside from the bandit-indicator I think that weapon-holstering and simply more stuff to do will keep players from killing eachother as often.

See, I am sure you are right about this. I simply want a better way of implementing it. Like say you kill four people and you gain a red hat all of a sudden. It's stuff like that I dont like. It's like I am getting an achievement and it doesnt fit into the game at all. So I want the same thing as you but another way of doing it. Maybe the dev-team just want to see how indicators work in general and this is the quick way to do it, I have no idea. All I know is what I dont want and that's what I am expressing here.

Nothing wrong. I just want a more realistic manner of implementing it. Right now it seems like you'll suddenly get a "mask" when youve killed/helped a certain amount of people. This removes some of the immersion from the game and makes it feel less authentic. If changes like these go through then who knows ... we might get kill-bonuses later on. An M16 appears in your inventory when you kill 10 people perhaps?

Not magic in a programming point of view but for the player who wants immersion that's truly magic. You get what I am saying. I get the feeling that you're just trying to troll me. Successfully at that.

Well, that is what will happen. You gain an item from NOWHERE. It magically appears when you do something. Soon enough you'll want to hear a voice saying m-m-m-monsterkill when you make a lot of murders too I guess.

Indicators could still be made in a more realistic manner. That's what I am trying to say. There's one thing I that not a lot of people think about. What about weapon holstering? If somebody points a gun to your head its just instinct to shoot first. If everybody werent walking around with guns pointed then maybe there would be less deaths happening. A lot of things can be made to lower the number of people getting killed.

Hence this thread. Thank you for clearing that up. If he will implement indicators I want him to do it in a manner so that it feels realistic in the game. That's all. No need to go bananas. You got a problem with realism? Why? It's good that the game is authentic, right? I am sure we agree. You just misunderstand me.

He clearly said bandits and heroes get certain types of clothing. Watch the video linked in the first post.

This is probably like the 8th time I say this. I have nothing against indicators in general. I just dont like the way they're being implemented. Did you even bother reading the first post?

This is a terrible idea. What if I want to be a "good" player? If I am stuck with the banditskin I might as well keep on being a coldblooded murderer.

Another one of these "who cares, its a game"-people. Great. The game is not finished and this is the "suggestion" part of the forum. We contribute feedback to the developers and while you could just suck it up and go with it - you could also give your oppinion and give suggestions on how to make it better. These ideas could create a nice game for everybody. Not just a one type of player.

You forget that the bandit actually puts himself in risk when he starts shooting at anybody. It might as well end with him taking the long stroll along the beachline.

That already happens in the game. "My people" are not all survivors nor all bandits. My people is the small group that I currently play with. If one of those people randomly starts killing other people in the group that person will either die or will have to kill us all in order to survive. I like that, I really do. But I dont like it when the game tries to put a giant label on me because of my actions. No matter if those actions are good or bad. If I am a friendly player, I will dress like one because I want to show other people that I am - in fact - friendly. So yeah, maybe the problem simply comes down to that there needs to be more customization in form of clothing and some sort of nice indicator that wont ruin the immersion for those who like it. And yes - some bandits will probably try to dress like friendly players in some cases but thats just how it is. A risk to be considered.

It seems you assume that hero-skin survivors will never backstab eachother. Trust me, it will happen no matter what as long as there is "friendly fire" in the game. I think it's part of the game that you cant really trust everybody. And I think people should have options. Today I might want to be a coldblooded bandit. Tomorrow I might want to help people out.

Well, it could be realistic if players got more customization options too. Players whom are proud to be bandits would dress a certain way. A team of players could wear the same type of clothing by free will because they want to identify members of their own group. Fresh spawned players would have random civilian clothing. How about that? I am a friendly player but I know that I'd like more clothingoptions simply because I want to be able to quickly identify my buddies during a wild firefight.

I hear you. I dont have a problem with indicators. I've said that quite a few times now. I just dont like the way they're being implemented. Read my suggestion in the first post. This is the "suggestion forum" after all.
  17. JulieMeyers

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

The problem about players killing other players is not just that simple. A skin will not "fix" it. Players will always kill other players for fun, for loot, by accident etc. Right now a lot of people are doing it simply because there are no other things to do once you've got your end-game gear setup. That's not what the thread is about though. It's simply about the indicator and how it could be made in a different way. Edit: It's not even a problem to be honest. It's part of the game and without murderous bandits the game would be nothing but a numb AI-zombiehunt.
  18. JulieMeyers

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

I am really curious how you're going to feel once a guy wearing a hero-skin backstabs you. Nothing will change. If you got much better stuff than him and he is only one gunshot away from having it - guess what's going to happen? Asking people to trust eachother in DayZ is like asking people on Youtube to be nice to eachother.
  19. JulieMeyers

I hope we meet in the game, put our differences aside and love eachother like the true internet-gurus that we are. I will have the hero-skin.
  20. JulieMeyers

Thanks. This was probably the first good answer about the upside of having indicators. Have my beans.
  21. JulieMeyers

You're an obvious troll. You know that? Read my first post and then come back with some intelligence. Thanks. I am not a bandit btw. Doesnt matter though, they're a part of the game. Go hug somebody if you want to share love with random strangers.
  22. JulieMeyers

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

Missing the point? I made a suggestion in the suggestion-forum. This is my thread. YOU are missing the point. So yes, genious. And why do you need that? Because you'd trust a kid wearing a beautiful hero-scarf more than a kid wearing a hoodie. Right? Sighhhhhh.
  23. JulieMeyers

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

So the goal is to make everybody trust eachother on the internet, in a game about looting good stuff? Good luck. I made a suggestion to how this could be made in a more immersive manner but people just seem to focus on how good the "magic" model-change is and not about an alternative and more realistic way of doing the very same thing.
  24. JulieMeyers

Griefers are who people refer to as cod-kids. Those high-tier weapon wielding dudes killing people for no reason other than for their own amusement. Does being a bandit mean being a cod-kid to you? What if everybody just ran around and loved the hell out of eachother in this game instead? That would sure be exciting. When you kill somebody, you should get a skin so that you look like Bane from Batman. And if you kill even more people you gain demonic wings and you shoot fire from your eyes. That will stop the cod-kids for good.
  25. JulieMeyers

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

Great. We need more people like you in this game. Really ironic since you are the guy saying "cod kids". How about you read my first post and then think about what forum we're in.
