oh, i only just noticed this - try to ensure the cocking piece does not clip the stock, it's very noticable when it's right in the middle of the screen and will make any AO bake have big black marks on it from the clipping. The reason it's clipping is because you are missing the metal railing/cutout in the back where the bolt and cocking piece slide through. If you cut the stock away to add that, it should have room and not clip.

the overall shape looks about right but it's missing some details. The "walls" around the bolt (built into the reciever) look quite thin too. One of my friends has one, if you need specific references taken i'm sure he would love to help. well, i was basically told i was an asshole last time i made comments on a weapon model, so i'll try to be gentle... It looks reasonably accurate to the real thing model wise, but the texturing could use some work to match the style of arma a bit more. If you can bake some ambient occlusion it would help... Aside from this, some material definition would be great. A bit of shine on the metal, and a glossy finish to the wood - most of these things were lacquered. Compare to the arma default ak: http://www.armedassault.info/ftp/pics/news/pics1/ArmA2_weapon6.jpg this pic doesn't show it great, i suggest loading it up in game and look at how the lighting behaves, how shiny or not shiny each part is. If you're not sure how to set up RVMATs or how to use SMDI textures, feel free to PM me and i will explain. Aside from this you could work in a lot of details - the wood grain on most late war mosins has some awesome laminated texture in it, for example, check the top specimen http://www.mosinnagant.net/ussr/images/M44-2Hex01_000.jpg It's true that they used hardwood to an extent after the war but seeing as you have a free choice it could provide some visual interest to do a laminated one. lastly, seeing as the first person view and ironsights are what we will be seeing 99% of the time in game, it's important to see how those look. Yeah, i would imagine something smoothbore. Is the saiga rifle marketed much in russia, or mainly for export? I've never read up much on that particular firearm. But i would imagine in most countries smoothbore would be most prominent. Makarov - tbh this surprised me a bit. Glock must be 2nd then. -

What makes you say that? Do you have a source? I would have thought some baikal shotguns or rifles... -
being able to openly critique things without people getting all precious about it is possibly the most important thing ever for a community about a game-in-development or any kind of idea-throwing arena. It's important to remember we're talking about the idea, not the brain from which it originated. Everyone's capable of logical errors, that's why these kinds of threads are open to the public to revise and challenge them. An idea unchallenged never has a chance to prove its own strength.

i dont see any harm in this, and i've often wondered myself how exactly i compare to the average lifetime in the mod. it'd be cool if the average lifetime thing only started counting after 20 mins or so, that way guys new to the game who make simple mistakes wouldnt drive the average down hugely,and we'd have something more representative.

er, it's not really a "score" or something, any more than the right-hand side of a ruler is of higher value than the left. It's nothing but a thing to measure whether or not you're a bandit. It's nothing to do with morality, just describes your stance towards other humans with an estimate.

+1 ross's post. Furthermore, from someone who doesn't intend to kill anyone who isn't obviously a murderer out to get me, i'd hate to see PVP penalised. Less threat from other survivors will do nothing but make the game more boring and similar to the "average" arma zombie mission. Look at how things are. Theres about 20 zombie scenarios for arma, and out of all of them, this is the one that people play like crazy. This is the one outselling AAA releases on steam. What makes it different to other zombie mods, that draws people in so much? Make a list of the differences and stop suggesting to cross things off that list. Everyone.

i don't mean to be a dickwad, but i know of a more accurate model you could probably use if you wanted. The sights are kind of way off (link), which usually wouldn't matter but arma is a sim. -
