    Remove sniper rifles..more realistic...

moronic. Try to tell me this kind of ratio exists among civilian weapons? And militaries equip their soldiers as such because millions and millions of sniper rifles dont suit the environment they work in and cost a lof of money. Neither of those things are the case in dayz. It's not just some arbitrary magic limit on these weapons. You're arguing to nerf scoped rifles as a balancing measure, the only way you can reference reality in support of this is by referencing an instance of reality doing it for "balancing" scoped rifles inherently balance the shit out of the game by penalising people who are too trusting, rush into things, or are unobservant. The game isnt about guns, it's about tactical awareness. Aside from this, by my observation the "sniper" rifles are already vastly less common than the assault rifles. You see more of them around because people are more likely to cling to them once they have them... Use some logic

suggestion to people whining about snipers

I'm going to agree with this, but i get the impression ross' post was assuming there was reasonable cover around the place which would help. Most the time in arma this isnt really the case though because the terrain is pretty smooth

    Remove sniper rifles..more realistic...

Yeah. Mouse buttoning. On the other hand itd be incredibly interesting for you to "Hold W" until youre at the top of a ladder. Evading enemies, espescially well equipped ones, i believe any experienced player of the game will agree, is fucking exhilarating. As for it needing to be "easy..." Since when was the point of the game to be easy? Go back to single player games if you don't want to have to deal with intelligent enemies who use the best tactics at their disposal to kill you. And learn evasion.

    Day Z iOS App

Hm, i can imagine people will ask for a feature for the phone to work like a real-time GPS by grabbing your character's position. This would sort of constitute a "cheat" in some ways. But then again one could argue that any kind of out-of-game map could be called a cheat.

    Day Z iOS App

yeah, do something polished and tight, not crap rearrangements of online info some scrub threw together to make a buck EDIT: when i had a think about this myself i thought itd be a good thing to have the app have seamless updates to maps and things from some online source you and a handful of "editors" can update as needed. Like, new map info could be grabbed from an external source without necessarilly having to deploy a new update to the app itself. It would save you having to get the thing sent through the whole app store process each time map info needs to be updated.

    Day Z iOS App

hit me up if you need graphic design, i've thought that this would be a good idea too.
  7. really? it's been a thing since before dayz. Just google for dayz/arma cheats and you can get a pretty comprehensive idea of what hackers do, and how to maybe spot them.
  8. Server time: GMT+2 Local time: GMT+10 Time of incident (local): between 11 and 12 pm We were chilling around cherno, and this "Mage" guy got killed by one of our crew. We saw him maybe 20-30 minutes later back in cherno, I shot him. About 20 minutes AFTER this, we encounter him again in cherno, this time with an acog m4, something like 9 stanags, an m9 sd with a similar amount of ammunition, and some other things (i didnt see all his gear) After he manages to take out some in my group, we took him down. the crew watches over the bodies while the fallen chaps head back to the location. 2-3 minutes later, we arrive, salvage what we can of our old gear. Just as we finish, we encounter someone in a ghillie suit, with a dmr, another suppressed m9, both with massive abundances of ammunition, a GPS and all other survival gear. The only gear he lacked were the rangefinders and NVG. We take him out, and to our surprise, it's Mage again. So somehow after we defend ourselves from him a third time, he reappears a few minutes later in cherno with all this gear. I somehow doubt he found all these things in chernogorsk within the amount of time it took for us to get from cherno beach to the northern side of town. Im not sure how seriously this kind of report is taken, but it was extremely suspicious, and brought back that feeling of "ghosts" abstractly coming to avenge their own death, which were so common in the days when everyone spawned with a makarov. Other dudes i was playing with will probably chime in here with screenshots of his gear - It was a really crazy abundance of stuff.
  9. well i dunno. whatever. Let's say you're "innocent" which i dont believe you are - now you know what kind of behaviour looks suspicious. I still dont believe that you had multiple tents full of gear sitting literally at cherno with nobody looting them over a period of multiple days. It seems the admins don't either
  10. well, because wallhacks wouldn't actually help in arma and aimbots don't seem to exist (at least from youtube videos ive seen of people hacking)

Weapon Russianization (WARNING: Big, detailed post)

Just as an aside, the 1866 frame couldnt actually take full size rifle rounds or shotgun rounds. The original fired something more like a revolver round. It wasnt until browning invented the 1887 reciever that winchester produced a shotgun.

    Suggestion: Weapon perks

yeah gimme one of those "anti zombie" weapons with higher velocity, so my sight zeroing can be way off. Could someone tell me what would make a weapon "slow," are you suggesting a super weak recoil spring or an inexplicably heavier bolt or what

A suggestion to drastically reduce the murders

human norms in the west in the 21st century also don't have 90% of the population as living dead sauntering around towns and a general struggle to even obtain food. Look at any area in the modern world where firearms and scarcity of resources are combined. You've still yet to actually clarify anything other than saying "its more complex" So i say the burden is on you to point out where behaviour of players with guns in dayz is out of line with the behaviour of humans with guns in a real area with scarce resources. Because in my opinion, it's quite close.

    PvP doesn't exist

the skill in dayz/arma isnt shooting guns, its observation and moving carefully - that's what will win you fights, not clicking faster or being better at twitch shooting in close quarters.

    Group visibility

er, how is group travel not already enough of a threat? if retards stick real close it'll be their loss when a single guy with an auto can easilly cut them all down, or one of them being spotted implicitly reveals all of them. They shouldnt have a hud indicator to hold their hand and tell them what theyre doing wrong?
  16. So... what the fuck are you doing in this thread? As for mage - It's interesting that you claim to have been farming loot for days and days. Is your tent in cherno or something? cause you got all your stuff rather instantaneously. Let's just entertain the thought though. You got there very fast so your "tent" really must be in cherno. If your tent is in cherno, how, exactly, has it been sitting there, in cherno, one of the roughest and most active towns in the game, for days and days, and still have 2x m9sd with ample ammunition for both, and two DMRs with ample ammunition? I seem to remember there being 8-9 mags for each gun, each time, none of which you recovered because we were occupying the place where you were killed... But lets be safe and say you had 7 for each. That makes about 28 slots of your tent already, then 2 dmrs at 10 slots each, and 2 m9s at 5 each. So we're at 68 slots by now. Then there's all the survival gear you had. You had pretty much everything, matches, compass, map, all that shit, Which can be accounted for by looting (the time it took you to find ALL of it was astonishing, but lets give you the benefit of the doubt) but your GPS would be one more slot at 69. You were also carrying 3 AK mags and binos, i guess you could have found all those, but again, you seemed to prioritise coming straight back to your previous body so i cant really understand why these items were a priority for you. From what i can find, tents have about 70 slots... so your tent should now be pretty much completely empty. That's not to mention the fact that you seemed to consider it important to pick up every single item of survival gear, and a suppressed m9 with full load of mags, just so you could quickly run back to your previous body - twice. Why were you carrying all that stuff both times? Why was the GPS one of the first things you grabbed, so you could run straight back to your body and get shot? And how, after many days of you looting "all over" in cherno, the NW airfields, everywhere - How, in the whole damn world, was your tent not looted? where in cherno is it hidden that it could sit there for days and still have 2 DMRs, 2 M9sds, a GPS and god knows what else in it when you quickly decided to grab something from it and try to get your body back? Why wouldn't you just grab some basic gear if you wanted to shoot us? Why wouldnt you grab a load of gear and totally avoid the area you got shot so as not to risk doubling your losses which you "worked so hard" to gain? Anyway, your general ineptitude in combat has me really questioning whether you'd even be able to hold onto gear long enough to put them into tents. That ineptitude does make sense as a possible motive to cheat though.

Weapon Russianization (WARNING: Big, detailed post)

the moronic thing about this is that youre comparing them based on performance and implicitly introducing hundreds and hundreds of specimens of weapons which were never actually mass produced or adopted by anyone ever, or only ever produced for export... So the fact that they're russian is totally cosmetic. You should be looking at weapons which are common in the eastern bloc, not necessarilly russian. Just because, at one time, they were produced in russia, it doesn't follow that they're even remotely common in eastern europe, or any more so than any other common european or even american weapons. Even back in ww1 and 2 there were mosins manufactured in france and america sent to russia, and around ww1 the russians used a winchester rifle and a smith and wesson revolver. The georgians, estonia and lithuania, use the m16 as a service rifle the ukrainians use that tavor israeli plastic gun. the czechs, georgia, hungary, and serbia use the m4 in some numbers. Currently russia, czech, latvia and armenia and probably others are using british AW rifles in some numbers. Estonia, latvia, lithuania all used the g3 at some point. Just "russianising" the list is purely cosmetic and adds no greater authenticity to the game. There's a lot more to it than just geographic region of manufacture.

A suggestion to drastically reduce the murders

Never suggested dayZ is a sociopathic game. I play co operatively every single time i play... Purely cause i have pre-existing connections to the dudes i play with. Which is pretty much a mirror of reality. You keep using the word "sociopathic," as if competing violently for resources isn't something every single organism ever has done for the entirety of life on earth. Sociopathic generally refers to an individual's tendency to favour their own personal interests at all costs. You seem to be complaining that samaritanism and altruism aren't bolstered artificially with gameplay mechanics. Groups being suspicious of other groups, and disposing of them to be safe, is not "sociopathy." By that measure, MOST animals are sociopathic. The worst part is, your suggestion doesn't actually give any more reason to trust random strangers. They are already a massive help - two sets of eyes is always, always better than one, and if you both have weapons, two barrels being guided by those eyes is absolutely invaluable. It's just that it reaches a point where the group becomes so large that it's a burden to take on any more members. Even in your idealised scenario, this "magic number" of group members would still be a thing, and you have no way to know if someone you encounter is already at that magic number, and not inclined to enlarge their group's size to the detriment of that group. Loot is always going to be rather finite, and the group sizes are the way they are largely because of that. Eventually, having a guy who's good at mechanics at the expense of 1/5th of the loot you find in order to keep him in supply and keep him useful in combat, is no longer going to be beneficial. If this kind of crap ever gets added, i hope you experience being that mechanic nobody has any use for, and realise how pointless your suggestion is.

    Bring back Markov at spawn

you wouldnt be making this suggestion if you'd ever defended yourself from someone in a coastal town, they'd respawned, and came straight back to where you were without hesitation, attempting furiously to makarov you, having nothing to lose themselves. No makarov is good, cause if you overcome someone at the coast, their first priority becomes finding a weapon and ammunition, rather than making a bee line for your last known location and trying to sneak up on you with a pistol. Totally abstract.

    many players are quitting

Read any real survival manuals? that's pretty much the recommended method. Survival isn't about going around shooting zombies, it's about keeping yourself in good supply. It just so happens that, like in reality, the most efficient way to get such supply is by taking it from another being like yourself which sifts through bad loot and keeps the good stuff you want. Much more reliable than a loot spawn. It seems real weird that you're complaining how it's so easy to survive by just hoarding food and going into the wilderness but also complaining about player killing. If you're asking for a challenge, how is that challenge not delivered in the form of bandits who want your hoarded food and weapons just as badly as you do? It sounds to me like you want a very specific kind of game where you and your friends just kill tons of zombies without anyone interfering. The good news i have for you is, that game already exists, it's available on steam and it's developed by valve. Cool tattoo and bicep though. I'll be sad to see that one go from the community.

    Pass out needs to go

it'd be kinda cool if zombies concussing you could only happen if your blood was below 10000 or so. That way if youre cruising around at 12k the chance of a zombie getting a single lucky hit on you wouldnt instantly KO, but a second one might.

    a stop to death-dodging(Alt+f4)

Ive talked about this a lot with my group, and personally I think the best option would be to make quitting in dayZ take 20-30 seconds countdown. That way, if the game suddenly crashed, it wouldnt interpret it as you DCing and penalise you with suicide. My only problem with doing something like that would be that currently, zombies can get tripped for imo, unacceptable reasons (for example tripping zeds from behind walls still does happen) and in situations like that, disconnecting is acceptable. It's espescially bad if you're sneaking through a town with a loud weapon, and no intention to discharge it, when suddenly you hear a scream from the building you're sneaking past, and some zombie arms flying out of it trying to get you. Until that problem is solved, maybe a 5-10 second delay is more acceptable. I dunno. Even that small amount of time would have resulted in the rightful deaths of so many dudes i've encountered...
