duct tape - the possibilties are endless
1mpuls3 replied to uvpurple's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Mythbusters once built a boat with nothing but duct tape. -
Alright, so I searched a bit through the forums without finding this so I'll create a new thread about it. For the past couple of days I've been thinking about a surrender-system much like the one you have in vanilla. Press a button, your character holsters any weapon you have and puts his hands on the back of his head. This animation is still in Dayz, but it's broken in 1.5.7. What happends is that he starts the animation by holstering the weapon, puts his hands on his head for a second flat, then all of the sudden he goes back to picking up his weapon again. Why do I personally want to see this feature fully functioning again? To add to the realism and the fact that if/when you rob someone, the only thing you can do is tell the victim to lower the gun first, then drop it. It's not a good way to do it. With a proper surrender-system, you can rob someone and no one has to get killed in the process. And, it adds alot to the immersion. Thank you for your time, live well!

No ghillie? Why not? Lots of players want it. I am one of them and I am not even a sniper.

This statement is false, sir. In 1.5.7 I believe it was, your character changed his outfit when your humanity went down to a certain level. And that happened in-game.

What is the Icon above Temp... [Face]
1mpuls3 replied to JuiceBoxCowboy's topic in New Player Discussion
Not sure if the face icon have any purpose now that the humanity system is pretty much gone, but the more survivors you kill, the more angry that face will look. Not sure about the color, certainly never changed for me, the only thing that did change was the expression on the face. -
Simple answer: It doesn't.

Just tried this online in DayZ, worked fine. Checked my face out (lol) and indeed it was the camoflauged face of my choice, server didn't react to it either. Though, I did not encounter any other players in-game (for once) so I don't know if the camo face is visible for other players, or just you. Odds are that everyone can see it as these faces comes along with OA, and so it shouldn't be a problem. I do however suggest that you do what Sherlock posted earlier in this thread (like I did with success), instead of using what Massive posted. The problem with the addon Massive posted, from my point of view, is that in order for it to function you must add a new mod after @Dayz in your shortcut, and I can imagine that this causes a problem when you connect to an online server.

You need to drop all your weapons on the ground before that animation works. It's broken in Dayz as it is now, I already made a thread about it where I asked for it to be fixed. We'll just see what happends.

Would you shoot the unarmed person?
1mpuls3 replied to _triumph_'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No. If the player do not seem like a threat towards my survival, I will not shoot them. Sadly, this is not how the majority (well, at least not according to my experience) will act. I've only played this mod for 5-6 days but I got the impression that many players play this game as if it was a regular FPS, kill-everything-that-moves. CoD and/or BF3-players, if you will. -
Server Hopping + Loot spawns + Barbed Wire = Broken Game
1mpuls3 replied to jonaswashe's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Or just make the loot spawns (good loot or bad loot) totally random so there's no need to "defend" or camp a house where you know the M24 spawns. Also, for the wires - add a wire cutter that you can find (similar to the hunting knife) and hence being able to remove wires, should you have a wire cutter in your inventory. -
A Solution to the Problem of Bandit Identification
1mpuls3 replied to HoboWithAGlock's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Spitballing as well, I just came up with a wild and crazy idea. On some servers you can see the player's name if your crosshairs is pointed at em, we all know that. I, too, would like it so that we do not see the players name at all. Realism is one of the key words. When 1.5.8 arrives, as we all know by now, the humanity system will become pretty much useless. My idea not only solves the purpose and use of the humanity system but also the identification of bandits no matter what outfit they are wearing. And here it is; Exchange the player name you can see when you look at a player with their current score of the humanity, taken from their own Debug monitor. -
I totally agree. I've only been playing Dayz for 3 days now and already I've encountered so many situations where a holstered sidearm could've been the difference between life and death. If holstering your sidearm is not possible due to the engine that ArmA uses, why not make it possible to lower the sidearm just as you can lower your primary weapon? I'm just brainstorming, no programmer or anything so I'm not sure what Armas engine can handle and what not, but I definately think this should be looked up and maybe implemented in the future.

Me still thinks it would be cool to fix the animation so that you could put your hands on your back head even though you have weapons on you. Hands on the back of the had first, drop guns later. IRL those two things would be reversed, but in this game I don't think you need your hands to drop stuff, it's just a couple of clicks away anyway.

I'm not so sure. Is it possible to make two outfits for bandits, one for "good bandits" and one for "bad bandits"? Reason why I'm asking is simply because my friend got murdered in cold blood last night, he looked like a bandit but since I've played with him for over 6 hours straight last night (I know the guy IRL too so) and I know what happened that turned him into a bandit, I'd say he's a good bandit who only fires at a human if the human fires at him first. People don't care if you yell "FRIENDLY FRIENDLY!" in Direct com, they see a bandit - bambambam, dead. I love the humanity system, it's awesome and I think that should stay. But if it is possible, in some way, to determine whether its a good or a bad bandit (my friend is a good one, bad bandits kill everything that moves no matter what), I think that would improve the game alot. Just my 2c.
