Mhmm, now that's a Real Man! -
So you want to play a different game within Day Z, how interesting....

Ok Bye

If Rocket Didn't Push Out The Patch, Surely There's Some Way He Can Un-nerf/Reason With The Devs.

That doesn't mean anything when Rocket is capable of modifying the mod to compensate for the ARMA patch or just changing the damage models to whatever he wishes. -

Only time, and collected data, will tell how the new damage models will affect Rocket's decisions for future patches. -
I'm rather confused on why you, the OP, believe that Day Z is similar to an MMORPG. This mod is merely a simulator and is not structured the same way as an MMORPG is. Having a super server would be extreme and doesn't make sense when the servers are ran by the community and governed by the community based on guidelines that Rocket had made. Base building has already been confirmed in future iterations of the mod, most likely when it goes standalone. Having the infected build their own camps sounds extremely ridiculous and I am not sure why you would even suggest that. All in all, the idea of Day Z will most likely not become another MMORPG that you hope it might become.

Well, now that you have just explained how having the server difficulty setting govern the mod difficulty would not work, I can now go back to my original ideal and just agree with the majority of people who have replied to this thread.
-
I agree, the difficulty of the mod should be increased. But I think that the difficulty should be governed by what difficulty the server is on. Since I know that there is a portion of the community that still enjoys the mod's current difficulty. Now if for some reason that can't happen, then the mod in entirety should have an increase in difficulty.

But you need to understand that this mod isn't supposed to be like an MMORPG with world bosses that you group up with others to kill and gain loot. The mod is merely a test of what you would do in a post-apocalyptic setting, using a realistic take on how you would survive. And just for future reference, there are no zombies in this game, there are just infected humans.
-
Indeed we will have to.

I was assuming you would respond with an answer like that. Yes viruses can mutate, and possibly cause growths which can manipulate the appearance of the infected, but your idea is trying to add a feature that would make the game feel less realistic and more of an extreme survival arcade game. In lore, they could say that it is just a new strain of the virus which manipulates the appearance and drastically changes the genetic makeup of the infected, but even then, we don't need to start having this game be more like Left 4 Dead.
-
The idea of Day Z is about the realism of an outbreak of some sort of disease which infects the majority of the world's population. Now with that being said, the idea of "Boss Zombies" is completely unrealistic and wouldn't make much sense in the game world. Why would it be a good idea to start making the game have similar enemy types such as those in games like Left 4 Dead and Resident Evil.

I don't understand why you would even suggest this.

Alt-F4ing is somewhat problematic, and they are addressing it in the upcoming .4 patch on wednesday. How they are addressing it is still unknown as they have not said,or I have not seen them say, whether or not you will be banned for Alt-F4ing, as the patch just implements a log system for when you connect and disconnect from a server. I am assuming that you wouldn't be banned for escaping a hacker by Alt-F4ing as there will be logs of this occuring on the Hive and on the server you are playing on. So if you do get banned, you can just request to be unbanned and ask for a log comparison, as well as you can just report the hacker if you know who it is.
