Extreme griefing with barbed wire.
Tubby McChubbles replied to Anand (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
On my group's server, someone keeps placing about 8 spools of wire through the barracks entrance, and I have removed it all every time I have been up there, nearly dying in the process, only for it to respawn on server resets. -
I'M ON SOME BATMAN SHIT!!!!!
Tubby McChubbles replied to kumiiyo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's a bit sad that people spend time getting this kit only to sit in the south shooting newbs. (Read: get lucky and kill someone with good kit then kill newbs) Nice job bringing it the the DMers. -
It's a chopper spawn. Don't check the wiki for info (although it is correct), check the loot tables. http://picacid.com/arma2/loot_en.html

Re: Spawning without a Weapon - Reality Check
Tubby McChubbles replied to WilkyWilks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can only really get rid of starter weapons when there are no issues left with losing zombies who are chasing you. Otherwise we would just have a stream of new spawns sprinting all along the map away from zombies, without time to pick up a weapon. -
Noobs in the bush and zombies on steroids.

yes. Regarding your original question, sometimes the zombies spawned by dead players do strange things before they despawn, or it could just be bad luck. -

Oh dear. One of your group appears to have a mk17. -
So, when do you shoot?
Tubby McChubbles replied to PieceOfDust's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I never see anybody, so I only shoot when indoors and someone runs into me. If I see them outdoors, then I just leave the area, or wait for them to go + a few minutes if I need to go there. I never tell anyone I can see them, though. I completely disagree with the "They didn't say they were friendly as I scoped them from 600m while prone in the trees, so I felt threatened" approach. People spend so much time saying "are you friendly" that people work out their position, and they could just move on instead, as the person is no threat to them. -
A new player's review (WARNING: Rampant whining ahead)
Tubby McChubbles replied to Tvayumat's topic in New Player Discussion
Seeing as if you kill random people, you become a bandit, and about 1/10 of players are bandits, the "Everyone kills eachother" thing seems to be pretty unfounded. I say whenever the topic comes up ingame, I have never been killed by other survivors, only bandits. You also need to be aware that some survivor skins run in bandit groups. -
Ah, I remember the days of driving along the Takistan sideroads, vainly hoping you aren't about to drive into an enemy town as the fire engulfs the horizon.

To the camp north of Stary Sobor on US5
Tubby McChubbles replied to Tubby McChubbles's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There was a lot of kit in five tents, so I assume they were in use. I did take some, so that may have alerted them. Didn't want to face them with only an m24 if they saw me. -

I was sat in a bush 500m away for FIVE HOURS, watching your tents, and logged out to eat. Logged back in, your tents were gone. Damn you sirs, damn you indeed. Who were you? -
What if you threw away your bottle?

I searched this and it didn't come up, sorry if I missed it (or if it's implemented and I missed it.) If you can fill your canteen from wells, why can't you drink from them?
-
I just spawned and got shot within five seconds, losing an m14, alice, all the nav kit, etc. That isn't exactly my view of a legit kill. From now on, I'm just shooting bandit skins on sight.

As said above, you can shoot through glass, but different mediums have different effects on projectiles, and while it is a bit excessive in this case, it does work. ARMA brushes don't have any characteristics other than ballistic qualities, which stops it from shattering, but that doesn't happen as much as you think anyway. On the other hand, it could just be a good old fashioned arma bug or oversight in this case. Memphis, glass and houses are completely intended for combat, they were a large part of OA combat.
