I love how he says that he's fixing a bug and the entire thread avalanches into complaints about said bug. Stop complaining about the bug guys! He said he's fixing it hahahahah "Hey guys, I'm aware of the graphics bug and the fix will be in the next patch" "I CAN'T PLAY BECAUSE OF GRAPHICS!" "GRAPHICS NEED TO BE FIXED!" "CAN YOU FIX GRAPHICS?" lol I swear forums, how did you get so hilarious?

You still can, I did just last night. You have to have enough room in your inventory I think. Too few spaces in your inv and the meat doesn't show up (not even the "gear" or "take meat" options)

I haven't peaked at the source for either DayZ or ARMA 2 but I feel like taking a stab at this one anyway. To serial number every item with a unique ID would be incredibly taxing in every aspect. This would be the case, I believe, because best practice (I assume) would be to give each item a generic item code (which I'm sure the game all ready does) then give it a unique item code, like a serial number. That unique item code would then be bound to your account in the central server. To parse through a huge (re: gigantifuckingnormous) database that comprised not only every item in the entire server you are on but every item laying on the ground as well and comparing those numbers against the player database to see who owns it (if anyone) would be incredibly taxing. Not to mention if anything desynchronizes it could be a server wide disaster; a "dogs fucking cats" type of calamity. Then, regardless of these efforts, a new dupe method would be found. You can take that to the bank bro. I think the best bet here is to wait for the standalone and try to mitigate these problems more when he's got access to source. Over riding a bagillion methods to stop something that most likely won't be stopped anyway is a bit superfluous.

What pistol are you using? Body mass shots with M1911 are dropping them like flies. Makarov is a pee shooting zed tickler, ditch it as soon as you can if that's what you are using.

Working tents, working tents, my beans for working tents. I'm so loaded down with stuff right now... I hate leaving gear on the ground that I could give to a friend or keep for myself if I die. In fact, my partner and I have cut back our play (even though I keep sneaking in a fix here and there) until they work. That way we don't die and loose it all in the mean time.
  7. You are also putting words in my mouth. At no point do I say that one's ability to play this game is in anyway a reflection of their personal character. You have taken a couple of verbs completely out of context. I do not believe that a person's ability at this or any other game on the planet reflects a person's character (how they approach the challenges of the game might, but we will get to that later). I should have just said "good player" or "bad player" so that all this nonsensical, utterly superfluous hair splitting could have been avoided. Simple fact is you have good players (strong) or bad players (weak) at this game, and any game. Lets just leave it there and forget about what words we use. Can we agree that there are good players and bad players? Good. Moving on. My post was "not that bad" because I didn't "describe myself using militaristic sounding words". You are mistakenly taking the word "strong" as some kind of descriptor of anything more than skill level at this game. Accomplished? Fine. Advanced. Sure. Gods gift to gaming? I never claimed that and anyone who does is a fool. I know where you're coming from man, I do, I truly do. Some beck-beard who gets a hard on after a double kill and thinks it makes him a bad ass is just plain sad. I know there a lot of posts like that here, and on just about every other forum too, so I can understand why you would think, automatically, that-that's the place I'm coming from. Let me clear this up. I would consider myself mediocre at best, there are far "stronger" more "advanced" players in this community than me, and far more "weak" players too. My friend for instance (that poor schmuck) is "weak" and "stupid" in the context of this game (and I have no qualms letting him know that too, it drives him to do better). He has no idea what he's doing, and dies constantly by doing the same thing that killed him the last time. He's getting better, and he's not giving up. NOW we can talk about IRL "strong". By not giving up because it's too hard he is showing CHARACTER. That drive, IMHO, lends itself to making him a stronger player. However, do I think that because he sucks at this game for time being that he is some how inferior to me in any other context beyond this game? Fuck no. I've got one last argument to make here before I patiently await your response. This one is directed at OP: My friend, like many others in this thread (including myself), is making the transition from a weak player to a strong player. If you are sucking hind tit at this game right now it wont always be that way. So what you get your face ripped off after ten minutes. Respawn, go for it again, and you DO eventually learn to survive. It's hard, but like ripping off a band aids it's best to just get it over with. If we give the new folks special treatment then when that special treatment is gone they will be no better off. They will go from something moderately difficult to something much more difficult, and that may be more detrimental than them learning to live with death right off the cuff. However, I do really like the idea of making the game a little more accessible to the newbies. I think a party dynamic would be helpful. They could team up with other people who should be safe to run with, and be able to survive a little longer just due to the strength in numbers (if the zed are busy chewing on your partner's face it gives you time to get away). I think a really fleshed out party dynamic would solve a lot of issues. KOS would be at the top of that list. Of course, that would be something for the stand alone...but still.
  8. you have my beans. IMHO the fact that you like the difficulty, stuck to the game, and have started to survive makes you a cut above the rage quitters
  9. Yeah, yeah, what the fuck do I know, right? I did a quick search and didn't see anything along these lines even though I'm sure it's been suggested at one point or another. A leader board for bandits that displays number of kills, days lived, etc. The more infamy you accumulate the more people will hunt you (survivor groups and other bandits alike). This dynamic comes a long with a new item, the ear necklace. Every BANDIT kill you get becomes another ear on your necklace. The necklace itself has no in game value and is just a trophy basically. Any kind of value would be strictly in trade. I can see several potential dynamics arising from this. 1.) these trading post, medical services, and repair shops that you see popping up. perhaps ears can be used to trade there as well as mountain dew and beans. 2.) to prove your kill if you get contracted to kill someone. contract killing could be quite lucrative. 3.) to rub in that filthy bandits face while you call him a bitch after you turn the tables and kill him. Best part about it, the most popular a person is on the bandit leader board, the more their ear could be worth. Imagine having that guy's ear who had been #1 for almost a week. It would be like a wanted dead or alive type of thing. This will not only give people a reason to try to not be on the list, but give someone who doesn't give a fuck about the list something to work towards (if you want to be bad, then why not be the best at it right). What say you forum? Bump and give beans if you like, call me names and flame if you do not.

So you have a better idea?

The last Bandit thread you will ever need

I would gladly trade my beans for the ear of someone who I knew for a fact had shot me. Why are you upset about "retarded specifics"? I didn't force you to read this post. Besides, leaving out the part about ears would make my post sound kind of bland...actually. Hey! It would have made it sound as bland as what you've posted, isn't that ironic! If all suggestions where trimmed down to one or two sentences then no one would really flesh out their idea.
  12. NovaDose

The last Bandit thread you will ever need

Yeah, now that you mention it dog tags aren't a bad idea either. I've got an additional suggestion in light of the dog tags. Bandits collect ears, survivors collect dog tags. The more ears on the bandit, the more people you know hes killed. Dog tags and ears dont need to be looted, they are auto-magically added to your character's file. And yes, I heard the D2 ear drop sound. *squish* eat that you bone spear spamming cock sucker... lol

    /reddit Bronies/ sanc server gone?

If anyone thinks they are going to have an intelligent conversation with a teenage to adult aged man who watches a little girl's tv show they are sorely mistaken. DFTT
  14. OP is gonna QQ unless I help... Some tips for you: watch your back. (It really is that easy) I play on servers with between 10-20 people. I avoid highly concentrated sniper areas. I frequent less popular areas. In the nearly week that I've been playing I've been shot by someone else three times.
  15. Ok Webster, you tell me what words you would use to define the difference between someone who is good at a game and someone who is not? You are arguing semantics. A rose by any other name my friend... Good player, bad player. Strong player, weak player. Noob, vet. What ever words you use to define the margin of skill and strategy between someone who is good at doing something vs. someone who is not it is the same exact principle. You have people who excel at doing something, and people who do not. If you want to use different verbiage to define the difference then be my guest. What I'm trying to get at here is that you CAN be good at a game even though it is just a game. Whether it's ivory pieces on a board, pressing buttons on a key board, or throwing a ball in the major leagues; you have people who are good at it, and people who are not. No matter what words you use to describe the difference it is a definable and easily discerned difference in capability. Saying that, because it's just a game, you don't have people who are markedly more advanced than others is foolish. You can be good (strong) at doing anything from playing a game to doing math; or you can be weak and just plain bad at it. You are deviating off topic and I am coming with you! Back to topic: My argument stands. If you make this game easily accessible to casual gamers and teeny boppers then you will make it far too easy for the elite few and the moderates. I don't want an easy game. I had to fight tooth and nail for my shit like everyone else but none the less I still have it. Hell, there are some out there who think the game is too easy! I say the new people need to either get better (stronger, more skilled, have a better strategy, what ever) at this game instead of QQ'ing and hoping Rocket will dial back the difficulty. EDIT: I would also like to add that if you would currently be consider "not good" at this game; with time you can be "good" at this game. When I started, I died maybe 10 times the first day. As stated before, I rarely ever die now, least not by doing something I have learned not to do. Best advice I can give: don't trust others unless they earn it. I am not a bandit. When I see someone and know they are going to see me, I start shouting "FRIENDLY"; if they swing their gun around they are going to die. If they say "Friendly" back, then I keep my eyes on them. If they don't see me, then I avoid them. You will never be able to stop people from shooting each other; it's there for a reason. My current character is about 20 hours old I think and I play in the same world you do. Good luck.
  16. I disagree. You have strong players, and you have weak players. Garry Kasparov would make you look like a three year old on a chess board because he is a strong player and good at the game he plays. In any form of competition you have weak players and strong players. From playing a game of tic tac toe to playing Day z.
  17. NovaDose

    Hello! Noobie grief.

If you are going to play "lone wolf" style then I suggest you take your time more (the 30 min to crawl somewhere was boss, bumb rushing the ladder is where you screwed the pooch dude). Sometimes you have to hold still for quite a while to be sure there's not a sniper watching you. Glad to see you are sticking around. Give it more time and I'm sure you'll do just fine
  18. NovaDose

    Worst Community Ever

Welcome to Day Z bro! Where everything and everyone wants you dead! I swear these people. If it doesn't fall in their lap then they blame everyone else but their own shit skills. You know how often I die? Hardly ever. Same goes for everyone I group with. Do you think your version of the game is different than mine? Nope. The difference here is the caliber of player. Adapt and overcome or rage quit. The choice, as always, is your's.
  19. NovaDose

    Worst Game Experience ever

The game is difficult for a reason. Adapt or quit, the choice is your's. Everyone dies when they first start, its the facts of life. I've been playing for a week now, and rarely ever die anymore, and when I do it's to a bandit. I can have a gun and a starter kit in a matter of moments after dying so it's not the game man, it's you. I'm just being blunt here, don't rage; I'm just speaking the truth. I swear, this generation... I'm going to start calling it the participation trophy generation. They all expect that if they try their best they will succeed. Sometimes your best isn't good enough. Sometimes you have to improve. This, my friend, is one of those times. Improve. Keep pushing forward and developing as a survivor. In time it will pay off and you will see how great of a game this really is.
  20. 9)how do I use Microphone to people in my area? caps-lock key. Tap > "talk" > release to chat. Double tap to toggle on/off (don't leave it on all the time unless you are bumping some sweet ass music) 10) can I holster my weapon so I don't keep throwing flares? I think enter key lowers your weapon 11) how come peek doesnt worrk in first person mode er....it does't? you sure about that? 12) does Q and E make you look left and right in 3rd person mode (Numpad Enter)? Q & E are always lean. 1, 4, 7, 3, 6, 9 on numpad make you look around (* on numpad for free look) 13) if your completely lost in a forest how do I determine which way to go to get out? watch tutorials on finding north (youtube) 14) do I have to reload everytime I want to swing with hatchet? no, just the first time
  21. I agree with most people in this thread. This game isn't about "easy", it's about the contrary. You don't get a pop up every few seconds giving you a tip on how to play, there are not "Continue?" screens, no coin collecting to buy better gear, you won't find an official guide book, no one is going to hold your hand and help you cross the street here, everything and nearly everyone wants you dead and if you can't deal with that then gtfo imho. It's as simple as that. To dumb this game down or make it casual-gamer ready would be an abortion rape (or rapeortion) of something pure and good and full of win and justice. I'm tired of games that pander to the weak, slow, or stupid. Back in the day (and I'm sure some of you can relate to this) games where much more, uhm, "unforgiving" I guess is the best word. For instance in a lot of games you had a limited number of lives. Once those were gone, you started over from the very beginning. You didn't respawn at your last check point with everything you had before. You either got better at the game or you gave the fuck up and accepted that you sucked at it. This day in age you get a trophy for TRYING. That's bull shit. If and when my kid gets one of those shit participation awards I make sure to tell her that she got it for nothing. You know what, she understands that too; and she gets BETTER at what ever is was she fucked up at. I'm raising a winner, not someone whose happy with half ass and expects everything to fall in her lap. Make it hard on the best of your player base to keep them around; in turn you make your weakest few stronger. It's mutually beneficial this way. If people say "it's too hard!" or "I can't have fun because I keep dying" then they should probably take up angry birds. It will be far more fulfilling to them. They aren't cut from the same cloth as us. If they can't adapt & survive & thrive in Chernarus then we don't want em here anyway. I swear the first time I see "ACHIEVEMENT GET!!! STAY ALIVE FIVE MINUTES!!! HERE'S YOUR REWARD!!!" I will fucking rage quit. tl;dr If the game is too hard you are just too weak. If you want a participation award, take up playing pee-wee football.
  22. >> Walking around down in Cherno with a friend like a couple fresh spawned nubcakes scoping for beans. >> Sniper on the roof, "oh shit ninja get down!". >> Hit the deck, look up at sniper. Not sure if spotted, or safe. >> Sniper leans to the left, leans to the right, leans to the left, leans to the right. >> Friend grows balls, wants to communicate with it. >> Friend stands up, leans to the left, leans to the right, leans to the left, leans to the right. >> Bullet drills through skull, friend falls down dead. >> I laid there for the next ten minutes laughing IRL not giving a shit if I die or not

    "Traveling Aspect" of the Game

I would think that reducing server load would be enough? I personally like the run. I stop in low drop areas and get supplies so that I don't have to do it after getting a gun. Just because you run to the top loot spots doesn't mean that we all do (even though I'm sure it works for you). I, in fact, don't go there even secondly. For me it's food/water > a side arm > medical supplies > primary. The respawn button is shit imho. Not having it means you have to survive where you are put, not where you choose to be. If you washed up on a zombie infested piece of dirt you wouldn't get to pick where you made land fall. That said, I pose to you, what other case can you make for keeping the respawn button beside getting to spawn where ever you please? If thats a dynamic that anyone wanted to see included then people would be clamoring for a method to pick their exact respawn point. In that case, might as well set everyone's respawn point to the highest loot ares...hello PVP spawn point camping rape train.
  24. I searched the forums for something like this; but could only find similar posts...nothing to this degree. So I like that you can get sick; but lets take it to the next level. Perhaps, this can be made more "fun" and add another dynamic to the game. Lets give the virus stages, each stage includes the symptoms from the previous stage 1: Coughing. Max blood decreased by 2k 2: Gasping for air (similar to the panic sound file). Hunger rate +25% 3: Coughing up blood. Hunger rate +25% (total +50% rate). Skin starts to change to infected. 4: Death The four stages of infection could be persistent and take a week or two to fully manifest. You log out, you are still infected. When you die, you don't just fall out and respawn like you've been shot. Your skin changes to that of an infected person and you can no longer be cured by antibiotics. You attack any one close enough to you and do so uncontrollably and with no exceptions (closest person gets attacked, even if you were friends). If you aren't currently agroed towards someone, you can walk around normally. As soon as you see another survivor/bandit you attack with no control. Of course, the finer points would need worked out, but you get the drift. Could you imagine running between hospitals, trying to get antibiotics for your friend, knowing that he might turn any minute (get rid of persistence, but give it a random duration for effects to fully manifest). Or meeting a friendly infected person, then having to shoot them because they are too far advanced? I just think this would be the shit.
  25. NovaDose

    A deeper sickness dynamic

This is one of those "finer points" I was talking about. I have two methods in mind. 1.) The virus is air born right? Well that suggests that everyone is infected all ready. Perhaps when your temperature gets low (i.e. the current sickness causing condition) your immune system gets low enough that it starts to manifest. 2.) Like you stated, close contact with the infected. Of course, both would work fine. You could even change the code on a smoke grenade type to be a "dirty bomb" of sorts that infects anyone who breaths it.
