Still think this is a good game?

HEY HEY HEY everyone shut the fuck up... ...I got this. Everyone wants to tell this kid to fuck off and play BF3. To tell him that he's QQ'ing and it's his prob and he can go eat a dick right? Rocket has done sold him a half done copy of DayZ and he's rightfully upset, I SAY, he's OBLIGATED to be mad. It's too damn hard. The bugs kills him. We're getting dogs. Op I know bro, I know OP, it hurts... One time, way back when I was playing t-ball at four years old I got hit in the throat with a baseball thrown by an adult who was trying to teach me hard-ball over-hand pitch rules. It hurt like a mother fucker. My dad literally told me to rub some dirt on it, dry it up (my tears), and get the fuck back to the game. I did it. Today I am all the better person for doing it. It you want to QQ because of the things you've listed, then be our guest. We aren't going to coddle you, apparently very very very few of us will even remotely side with you, and no one will beg you to stay or change the game to fit your ideals. We are the sharks, you are the goldfish. Your tears are the salt water we swim in. If you can't hack it, then we don't want you here. Flounder for a half a second, and you will be fucking devoured. This isn't a game meant for merriment and family times. It's meant to be a bitch. And not a bitch that you still fap to after you break up. A bitch that cuts your little pee pee off and throws it in a bush. You have two choices. Man the fuck up, get over your preconceived ideals about how easy a game should be, realize it's ALPHA and play on. Or get the fuck out and not be missed by a single solitary fucking soul. The choice is yours. Rub some dirt on it and play on. Or hit the bench prissy pants. Edit: the community isn't eating itself, we are eating you
  2. I think I may have already addressed this post, but in case I haven't this is an excellent idea and is now in the op.

    Trade NVG for Ghillie suit

Yeah...seems legit. I'll meet you on server bullshit at never o'clock bro lol
  4. As far as Alt+F4ing goes I think giving it a 10 second timer where you body can still be killed is perfect. When you log out, your character kneels where ever they are standing, if you get shot then you will spawn dead in the next server. This, I believe, is the only way to fix is without implementing pathing, AI, etc. Just plain and simple, down and dirty, you log out in someone's cross hairs you are fucked; you stay and fight, you have a chance. Of course, there would be a delay that you wouldn't be able to log into a server during. Lets say 2x the log out delay.
  5. I agree 110% This, hopefully, is on the top billing for the stand alone. I'm not sure what kind of benefit it should have (certainly not anything that would make you better) but something as simple as an insignia would be great. You would, of course, have to do the same thing for bandits. Could you imagine being in a server with a bunch of first class survivors and bandits? Some of your post was omitted for brevity (some was all ready in op, some was just MOAR!) The events could be the halmark of the game. When you see one start to happen fuck all you will not log out and you will loose the next several hours of sleep trying to accomplish/seek out/solve it. I hope that gun choices get a serious over haul from the top to bottom. That said, moving on, being able to "bury treasure" is a great idea and inline with the earlier suggestion of having to bury bodies. Plus, you could leave notes (inline with another suggestion) as a sort of treasure map. Shopping carts...dude, I wanted to suggest this so bad. Something that slowed you down, but carried a lot of stuff. You would have to hide it, and god forbid sometimes you would have to abandon it. I'm adding it to the OP because...just because.
  6. For your post sir, I had to make a special response. Your's is not only thoroughly thought out, but organized, and specifically addresses your idea. You have my beans, outstanding post, out fucking standing. I omitted some things for brevity and others because they have been mentioned elsewhere or are all ready in the OP. I would like to go line for line from here. As per interactive flora. This is definitely not minecraft...but if you had established an entrenched and fortified base would you not have a garden and a water source. I think this has it's place, granted, not like it does in minecraft. Plants should take quite a long time to develop, and only yield as they would IRL. I'm not going to add this right off because there is some debate. More upvotes and I will. As far as night play it should never be accessible to everyone IMO. What would be the point of having NVGs? Should it be more rewarding, perhaps. Should you be able to get that reward without NVGs, flares, chem lights...fuck no. In fact, if there was a way for the devs to make changing gamma and brightness moot then I would elect for them to do so. Kid zombies. We all know they would be around in most cases...but trying to get a game through where you shoot fucked up littler monsters in the dome might be sketchy. Instead, we should assume that the virus doesn't find a suitable host in a child, and instead kills them. Much like pneumonia would kill a small child, but leave an adult (in most cases) ok. However, different zombie skins will, without a doubt, be in game. Have you seen a single girl zombie yet? I'll change the clothing section to reflect what you have more closely. I like being able to add stencils to your gear to mark yourself as a clan. And I also like the idea of making lonewolf play nigh impossible. It's not to pick on the people that have no friends and can't make any; it's to drive players together instead of supporting a KOS mentality. Adding difficulty is not only something I would personally welcome, but something I heartily applaud. As far as radios go I think that Rocket will insure that they receive the proper treatment. I would love to see multiple broadcast channels and ranges (as I'm sure most of us would). That way simply having a radio isn't the end all to the dynamic, but being able to know the ranges, channels, codes, etc would come into play. This would add to the whole "class" dynamic. Medic, engineer, sniper, radio-man.
  7. I think we can assume that something like this will be in-game. Not so much with the "not having to run across the map part", but def a dynamic were you and your friends can easily join the same game. Not having to run and seek out friends finger fucks the virgin that is this game. Think about having your friends spawn near you...what kind of cheating can evolve from that. Your friend gets dropped with you standing around the corner, he spawns near you, you drop a gun, he zergs the bandit. I mean, we have to throw out our preconceived ideas of a game here. There won't be respawns, There wont be drop points. There wont be achievements. This game is not your friend. It should not ever be meant for a twelve year old to pick up and get comfortable with. The players want you dead. The infected want to eat your fucking face. The environment wants you to get influenza and die. Nothing in this world is there to help you, nothing will hold your hand and everything wants to fucking feed on your corpse; from the worms in the ground to that mother fucker whose got you in his sights. It's not a game, it's an anti-game. It's a social experiment that will not only unforgivably challenge you but laugh in your face and call you a faggot when you fail.
  8. Hearing this idea put this way it absolutely must be in the OP. Updating now, elegantly put my friend, keep it coming. Now this is something I would like to see. The thing is, when I start out fresh, I have a browser window open with the map loaded. Random maps would be the best solution, but not the most plausible in my opinion. Changing start up gear just might be the answer. Lets say you start with one bandage, one pain killer, a flash light, a hunting knife (for self defense), and a map. This, I believe, would solve the issue. I'm going to update the OP with this suggestion, a few more upvotes and I will edit the OP to include unique maps. Great suggestion BTW, I hope it gets everyone's gears turning. Edit: yeah...never mind. It would have no effect on server hoping. However, it would mean that people didnt have to alt tab over to a map. Like I said before I guess, server hoppers gonna hop
  9. Updating OP I suggested this at one point. Trust me bro, it will never work. People farming player kills to let their buddy kill them and reap the rewards, etc. etc., it will never work. It's very difficult and dicey to suggest a change to the PVP mechanic. Not many will work even half the time, none will work every time. There is bullet drop. If a noob makes a 800m head shot on a target running serpentine then that's no noob. The rest of your post I like, and I thank you for submitting, but I feel that it has been argued at length else where (and likely, much of the OP has been as well.) So I won't be addressing it. But you would like to see more technical sniping? I'm not sure if you're suggesting that a mechanic isn't, in it's own respects, as technical as taking a long range shot; or that you are suggesting sniping is a super technical skill only capable of completion by an elite few (like a heart surgeon). My point in adding this to the op is to make thing more difficult. Not everyone can fix a car, just like not everyone should be able to take that long range shot. Sometimes keeping things simple is the exact opposite of what you want. I think in a game that's supposed to be unforgivingly hard and entirely noob unfriendly a more technical and difficult is not only warranted but necessary. The harder the better, just like my girlfriend says. Agreed. More upvotes and I will add it. Great idea, updating OP I don't know man...mines and claymores seem like a realistic addition. I won't update the OP with them, but I'm convinced that something along these lines will be in the final product. If not, then realism is at a loss. You should try playing on closed servers. At first you will be like "what the fuck this sucks starting over.". But once you get a few unique characters built up on a few servers it gets to be a lot more fun.
  10. I'm back! I'll be riding this fuckin train wreck for as long as I can so stay tuned. I'm going to paraphrase some of your posts so that I can fit it all into one response. I'm pretty sure that zombie behavior, pathing, and AI in general will get an overhaul for a stand alone. Multiple people have suggested, both for the mod and the stand alone, so we can generally assume its a sealed deal. As far as less scoped weapons: Meh. I think the balance is just about right between iron sights, reflex, scope, etc. More votes and I'll add it. Camouflaging vehicles...now we're talking...updating OP. Repairable Trains: I believe this is the second post I've seen concerning this. I'll add it if I see it one more time even though I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. On helicopter crashes: Now this (and your subsequent plane suggestion) I really like. An event that happens before a crash site is made would be great. Those who are lucky enough to see it unfold not only have additional intelligence to aid in the hunt, but have to worry even more about other survivors, and have a pretty sweet story too. Updating OP, great idea my friend. This is a good idea, had it not been for the multitude of suggestion posts I've all ready seen I would add it (even though some of these suggestions are surely over done). I do think this is a great idea; but in light of that it seems so painfully obvious that I find it hard to believe that it's not all ready in the game. You and I both would be crossbow wielding bad asses my friend, you and me both. Streams and rivers: Updating OP, even though I'm sure this will make it's way anyway. Updating OP Great suggestions, updating OP Another great idea. I'm changing the OP portion concerning inventory to reflect this.
  11. KEEP THE SUGGESTIONS COMING FOLKS!!! I like where this thread is going and would love to see a pile of suggestions when I get back. Some friendly debate is always welcome as well. I'm leaving work now, and won't be able to check this thread for at least a couple hours (yes, I browse at work, religiously in fact).
  12. As far as your quests suggestion. I saw a great suggestion somewhere. I wish I could link to the post, but I can't find it. The guy basically suggested that the grid coordinates that get repeated on the radio would be actual quest-line loot drops. At these locations you would documents (35mm film, documents, letters, stuff like that) that would tell a piece of a person's story as the out break was happening. You could tell the story from multiple perspectives like that and give end-gamers something to seek out. Your fortification suggestion is in the OP all ready As far as classes I doubt that would ever make it. However, I think having to have more specialized tools to do a job would be awesome. I.E. a toolbox isn't the only thing needed. You would need a toolbox to start a collection of tools. Or a medical bag to start a medical kit collection. Something like that adds the dynamic of a class without the whole having to choose a class part.
  13. all great suggestions. Tracks on the ground is a bit meh though. How would the game know that you didn't just give them the vehicle? How about tracks when driving in the dirt, and skid marks on pavement when they take a turn too sharply. In that effect you could kind of track them. These signs would fade with time and/or weather.
  14. I like this idea. Updating OP. It kind of adds a tower-defense aspect to the game...there's something almost king-of-the-hill-esque about it. I'm going to flesh this out a little. Good suggestion, updating OP.
  15. That's a good point. Maybe ENTIRELY random is a bad way to put that. How about saying that their should be random loot drops with a higher % chance for good gear while keeping the hot spots still good. OOO!! And zombies spawn inside of the good loot spots...that would def drive people away from just spawn dropping into the high value areas and looting. Updating OP, Very good point.
  16. How about a barometer as a loot drop, that could serve as the warning? Updating OP
  17. Hmm a downvote. First one so far other than mine concerning higher vehicle spawn rate. EDIT: how about the normal "civilan" weapons don't have as much customization as their military counterparts. Also, you have to find the adapter to be able to add anything to a weapon. I.E. if you want a better scope, you need to find rails that fit your gun. So even though you have a scope, you can't just freely change it from gun to gun.
  18. I think I have most of that in the OP all ready. What would be the effect of natural disasters? Without having every building able to take damage in some way that is... A Tsunami would wash up so many coast-noobs into cherno lol I could see it. Flashlights and bandages EVERYWHERE! I understand what you are getting at here, but to some degree they will have to tweak the engine to their liking. Just because it's run an engine doesn't mean it's utterly tied to it right? I mean, don't you think people would be upset if they just bought an expansion to ARMA2 instead of DayZ the game? I just don't see them putting ARMA2 in a DayZ wrapper and packaging it as something new. Rocket doesn't seem like the type to let something or someone ass fuck his baby like that...at least I hope not.
  19. I hope this is in the final product. I have being able to use melee weapons in the OP but I'll edit it to be more clear, add weapon switching, and add the bit about the flashlight. I'll change the related bit in the OP to reflect this. I, however, don't think that repairable vehicles should be more common, at their current rate they are coveted. However, you are the second person to say that. If I get more upvotes for it I will add it. Already in the OP Updating OP I remember reading that rag doll physics would be something Rocket would want to see in a stand alone game already. updating OP, great suggestion
  20. I'm going to add this. I really like the horde idea, especially if they were like a roaming horde that walked around aimlessly. If you saw you you wouldn't dare take a shot to avoid alerting them. All though I would like to see this too, I think it kind of fits into the "more/bigger" side of things. Hopefully the dev team is wise enough to include larger indoor areas on top of more indoor areas. If someone else seconds this I guess I'll add it though. How about more weather that is also more dynamic and attractive? I'd love to be snowed in by a blizzard worrying where my next meal is coming from. That is there because the game is in alpha. It is not a permanent feature. Adding locks. All ready have generators in the OP. I think everyone would like to see more team play. I won't add this because I'm sure that is something they will include in the final product. A way to team up seems so obvious how could they not? Radios are in game, just not functional in the way that everyone wants to see them yet. Even though I feel this falls into the more! more! realm of things I'm going to add it (in a sense). This will likely be in the final game. I mean, I don't know that for sure; but I would assume that is the case. MOAR! MOAR! Altering the similar part of the OP to include this.
  21. anyone else? or a courtesy bump?
  22. I like all of your suggestions very much. Updating OP. Anyone else want to upvote/downvote anything in the OP?
  23. Not sure if I agree with these exactly. Maybe just make the spawns more infested with the infected? I do like the idea of making the game more difficult though (which this would help to accomplish). I like fuel being a currency, but more vehicles would mean that it would be much easier to get one. At their current rate they are difficult to find, which makes them more coveted. If everyone had a car it wouldn't be much of an Apocalypse in my mind. Isn't that a long way off? If it means waiting even longer for this game then I have to say a heartily disagree. Arma2 is nice, it will do the trick for now imho.
