  1. Oh stop it you. :) I do like this idea, but at the same time not really. I don't think all servers should be that way, because of using the hive and all that. However, I have a suggestion for you that might just be right up your ally (and maybe you already do this). Those servers that aren't hive based can actually be really fun. I occasionally start a character on them just for something to do. I too hope that one day something like this arises.
  2. NovaDose

    What weapons do you carry?

Empty whiskey bottles and a mean streak a kilometer wide. Fuck the police!!!
  3. Thank you sir! Do you like beans? I bet you do! Welcome back KeefehB! Your avatar makes me lol a little every time I see it. Got anything you would like to add to k-9s?
  4. I know the OP has gotten pretty large, but peeps should search it a bit before posting ;) Should I put a quick reference tl;dr in a spoiler at the bottom (I realize the post is already laden with spoilers. But I heard you guys like spoilers, so I put a spoiler in the spoilers so I could spoil the spoiler.)
  5. What kind of classes, talents, perks? How would this work? Adding all this to the OP. I really like your example too, and couldn't agree with you more that any crafting system should as non-complicated as possible. I'll add this, even though it falls under the MOAR! category IMHO. Perhaps no one else will suggest it after this ;)
  6. already in OP I'm not sure why, but this sounds so familiar....hmmm...strange....Is this de ja vu? I think we are starting to stray away from the core game play of dayz. First classes, then perks, now exp pools. While I do like the idea, I think going down this road will only lead to more comparisons with that other game that's coming out soon. Now sure about NPCs either, even though I do agree that the coast-noobs washing up on the beach wouldn't be the only survivors left anywhere. IDK, more upvotes and I will add NPCs Do I think that you should be able to get over a fence and keep trucking? Yes. But an actual jump key, not at all. This would lead, inevitably, to the old hop around each other in circles and shoot fighting tactics. I would hate this simulation turn into Halo. Adding mines to the Traps section of the OP. I liked where you were going with the first part of your post, it feels like you were elaborating on the "crafting" thing that many have suggested but few have elaborated on. I'd still like to see a bit more on the subject though before I add it to the OP. Definitely adding candles to the OP though.
  7. Ok, you've sold me. I'll put it in the OP. As usual if anyone wants it taken out, vote it down and give reasons. The portion concerning random wilderness drops is in there, I guess it's kind of obscure maybe. I believe it's in the bit about events and the like. Adding beards to the OP as well as 2, 3 and 4 number combo locks. I'm going to try to respond to a few people at once here so forgive me if things get a little cluttered. Zombo, if you found a camp that wouldn't necessarily be the case. Like Baz said, the person who set up the camps would have to have found the locks to begin with. Locks should be fairly rare, somewhere along the lines of antibiotics. Locking up a tent would not be possible because, like you stated Zombo, you would just tear it to shreds. That said, the player would also have to find strong boxes and such as detailed in the "more world alteration" portion when mentioning storage to put inside of your base. Adding this to the OP, great idea. I feel the same way as you do pertaining to a "perk" or "class" system. To some degree it binds the player to a choice. I'm still not sure whether it should be in the OP, but I've added it for the moment. I would like to see more debate on perks and classes that way we can all come to a consensus. I know that, for the most part, people will stick to their guns until the end; so changing anyone's mind is most likely off the table. However, I think by adding it to the OP there will be more debate, and out of that maybe some clear, concise answer will come. As far as the map, if everyone's Alt + Tabbing over to the map anyway then why not give everyone a map? Besides that, if you factor in random events, random drops, and many of the other features we have all came up with then an in game map could become far more useful than a browser map. Maybe so useful that you didn't give everyone a map after all, and they become something of real value. This. How on earth could you force people not to team up though? Also: adding AA guns to OP. Everyone great suggestions, keep them coming! I'm updating the OP right now.
  8. Read back over the portion of the OP in The Equipment > More "In-Depth" Tool System (or whatever). Would this accomplish something very similar to what you are speaking of without players being bound to having one skill?
  9. this. all of this. all of it.
  10. A huge map would be nice. No more servers, just one big world to roam around in. However, the implications are huge for something like that. First the processing power to handle it. Second the architecture behind the scenes to keep the whole world loaded and track every player. There are so many other reasons that I don't think this could be done without a huge over haul. Yeah, I don't like the ideas of choosing a class out right really. More or less having the right equipment to do something, then making having a full set of that equipment accomplishes the same things. Skills I am not so sure about. Would it be a point buy system or a use to improve system. Would there be character regret involved. I think there are a lot of open ends here. If we can get something solid for skills then I will be happy to add it :)
  11. There was someone who posted earlier who said they wanted a "class" system. I'm reluctant to add it to the OP because I don't think that it's in line with the dev's ideals. How ever, I am just a lowly forum lurker so I honestly don't know. Another +1 for classes and I'll add it to the OP
  12. Yeah...using it to fast travel out of the city would be an issue. However, I think it would be an acceptable alternative to server hopping loot piles. I used to host a minecraft server and I can tell you from experience that sometimes an early warning is not an option, especially in the alpha stages of a game. A process can get mucked up, hang, then the only way to get the server back up is to restart. Not being able to spawn on loot would completely eliminate server hopping, no need to punish someone for something they can't do anyway right? Fast traveling out of a city like that would be an unfortunate by product. However, in conjunction with a 10 second timer where you are still able to be shot then looted on logging out(which, I believe, is going to be a for sure thing soon) would be enough to keep most people from using it to that end. Think about this: You are in the city, standing over the best loot. You know you can't server hop because you will just appear outside of town any way. You hear gun shots and want to fast travel out of town. If you log out then log back in to fast travel there is a ten second window where you can't defend yourself and you can be shot. The best (and really only) option is to make a break for it.
  13. I think just making it impossible to spawn near them should be enough to deter the server hoppers. In that light, the only people that would be effected by this would be the people who loose connection accidentally or the server restarts on someone. That looks like a +1 to me. I'll add: to the OP.
  14. I think that they are introducing them loosely and will update them with more usefulness as they go along. I believe (don't quote me on this lol) that Rocket had stated somewhere that he doesn't want any kind of identifiers for Bandits. Even though I see where you are coming from with a dog being able to sense evil, I don't think it would make it. :( I think this is something everyone wants. So much so that it is one of the most requested things in this thread. This can't happen. Could you imagine the shit-storm? You shoot a bandit, just before he bleeds out his four buddies spawn in right on top of you. The exploits are countless. Besides, part of the experience is learning to navigate to one another. I like safe zones. Not sure how they could be implemented though. I think the general philosophy on this for the devs is that they don't want to pigeon hole anyone, and want the players to make the world. So I could hypothetically (with the right man and fire power) see a server where the players have made cherno a safe haven. To get in you have to check your guns at the door and submit to a "pat down" of your back pack. I'll add it to the OP with more +1s
  15. Your english is just fine my friend, I understand what you are saying perfectly. :D As far as this idea goes, I think it's great. Maybe not so much with the knocking you out part, but putting you far enough outside of the no spawn zone seems like a good fix. Perhaps spawning anywhere near a loot spawn should be treated that way. What do you think? I'll update the OP with this. Great suggestion!!!
  16. I like the idea of hiding in this manner. But having a body sink into the ground is nothing more than a successful troll. I'll edit OP to include this as well as the blood trail. The rest is (hopefully) definitely going into the game.
  17. All but this is in the OP to some extent. Editing OP to include this. I think the more buildings part will be addressed for a stand alone. Adding glint. I like the idea too. Maybe only allow for it when you and the sun are at just the right angle to the sniper though. Great idea, adding improvised melee weapons to the OP.
  18. What do you mean by instances? I believe we've got the rest of this in the OP all ready bro.
  19. Yeah, not that you mention it it does kind of sound a bit over the top. Unless someone has an argument that can out do the arguments he's made here then I'm editing the OP to reflect this more "sensible" approach. Well met sir, well met. I would think that there would be multiple maps. A map that is mostly city would be interesting, like a sprawling city with sky scrapers and such. Japan maybe? Something more rural would be nice too, gently rolling hills, lots of farm land. However, I (like most others) wonder how something like this would be possible. Perhaps they could make a super huge map that has all of this somehow in one? I don't know...I just don't know... I do like the idea of finding military grade weapons near dead bodies and having to clean them. So if gun cleaning is incorporated in that respect, then you it should also be included in the other respect. I don't see it as something that someone would do all the time, like you said. Something that you would want to do frequently to avoid jamming and misfires? Certainly. I would probably clean my gun every other time I ate. Over kill l'm sure but that would be one damn shiny gun. Updating OP to include storage. I do like the idea of having some kind a spawn killing deterrent but I'm not sure how I feel about invincibility/can't deal damage. Lets hear some more ideas on a good spawn killing prevention.
  20. Good post, updating OP. Sold! Updating OP.
  21. Interesting.. I assume you would have to collect diving gear and such? What kind of dangers would you face going down there?
  22. Speaking about gun magazines. If you were running around shooting at zombies, you wouldn't just throw your magazine on the ground when it ran out of rounds, you would reload it. This is something that has always bugged me about any game with a gun in it. Updating OP. I'm not sure if a traditional "ending" would ever make it into this game. Yes, end game content will be there (at least we all hope so), but as far as a chopper swooping in and picking you up I just don't know about that bro. More upvotes and I'll add it to the OP. Do you say no high end gear because you don't have any? I'm not so sure that would be such a good idea. It's only around so much now because people server hop (most likely). A crafting system is interesting, and it has been mentioned before in this thread so I will add it to the OP. Punishment from murderers will never happen man, not in the mod, not in the game. I think the trading system should arise from the players. It was mentioned else where in this thread that fuel should be more rare; this would likely give rise to the use of fuel as a commodity. I like stat tracking also, updating OP. What about the farm land that is scattered around the countryside. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to eat one of those pumpkins I'm sure you've seen? I mean, if you are starving to death and standing next to a pumpkin you aren't going to go running off to get some canned beans. I believe this is planned for the mod, therefore the game as well.
  23. Oh I see you viewing it. I seen you looking. Nutt up. Post your suggestion. It's more than welcome. So far, this thread has been 99% flamer free 90% of the time. Seriously though, if you are on the fence about posting an idea (even if you have posted it else where) post it here. I would love to have a compendium of suggestions for the stand alone. Rocket says the game will adopt a minecraft model, well lets test that method.

Still think this is a good game?

I find it hard to believe that you put decency and gamer in the same sentence..much less words away from each other. A black hole in the argument. That is, bar none, the best sinonym for it ever. There is no decency in the vast majority of cases. I think this game reflects it quiet nicely. It is a social experiment after all.
