Nonono >.< you should NEVER EVER know for sure if you can trust another player, how ever there need to be some incentive to cooperate. Right now trying to cooperate involves A LOT of risk and no reward compared to KOS which is less risk for a huge reward. But that is not solved by preventing people from killing each other because that will just ruin the whole game experience.

This is much, and it would give some incentive to cooperate with other players.
-
Yeah because that makes sense in a zombie apocalypse...

New server rules (Less work for everyone)
Grodenn replied to jamesthebrit's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
While everyone and their mother hates hackers and want the gone from this world, I'm kinda sceptical to this idea. There would without a doubt be people getting banned simply because they killed the admin or the admin "thinks" someone is hacking. From what I have experienced from other games people tend to accuse others for cheating/exploiting when they lose/die even if the other player just happened to be way more skilled. I would rather say make a report function that everyone can use that logs time and server you where on while reporting the player. With enough reports from different people at different times you could get a ban? But the power is still in the hands of the devs. This would limit the amount of unfair bans I think. -
Yeah drinking from ponds etc would be nice but add the risk of getting sick that gives you some nasty debuff (you will need to boil the water to get rid of this risk).

Which is exactly what OP hinted at when saying WoW like trading windows, I think this would ruin some part of the game you SHOULD be able to "scam" someone in this game. I mean you could just shoot him anyway right? So scamming someone would already be very very dangerous and something that you should be applauded by if you successfully managed to do it :). I think a remake of the entire loot system is needed though as the current system causes a lot of problems dealing with loot. That way it could be more convenient to trade with people but still a very dangerous and interesting event (skip the trade window).

First of all I wonder why you need a gun to deal with zombies? Yeah sure a melee weapon can be useful but I never use a gun on a zombie if it's not absolutely necessary. The noise attracts way to much attention from both zombies and players so it's not worth it and it is rather easy to lose them without a fight anyway (this needs to be buffed aka make it harder to fight/get rid of zombies). Well I believe the alt+F4 solution also will come with a logout timer, you will basically stay in game X amount of seconds after you exit the game. One DC in a combat will obviously not get you banned but if that happens repetitively you should get punished for it, no one just happen to DC every time you get into a fire fight.

Well first of all it was a response to the OP I didn't read the entire thread, secondly I personally really think that this game should absolutely not be made easier we need more deadly things and a more harsh environment to take into account if you want to survive. Spawning without a gun/weapon will also encourage more player interaction instead of just KOS. As I said before it is mostly a l2p issue (no offence).
-
Indeed but I say more like 1 hour instead of 10-15 minutes. I could easily wait 10 min before approaching a body anyway considering he might have friends with him.
-
It's a cool idea but I rather want to see ONE big server that everyone plays on instead and that would make a random generated map kinda useless :P. But yes making the world more unknown would be amazing.

Rocket have talked about all those ideas and he's view as I understand it is that he want the community to build the safe zones and currency systems rather than scripted game mechanics. As for trading with other people I think it should be a very scary thing, not just some stupid trade window >.<. How ever I could agree that giving an item to someone could be made easier maybe some mechanic where you can place an item in your hand and offer it to the other player to loot (like looting the backpack but instead loot the hand :) . Yeah I'm not sure how it should be done but I really think safe zones and safe trading system is the wrong thing for this game.

I have to disagree, the zombies are way to easy they are not even a threat at all. I have no idea what the fuck you are doing if you can't lose the zombies that are chasing you it is REALLY easy personally I wouldn't have a zombie running after me for more than 1 min. Food and water is very easy to find you are obviously looking in the wrong places if you are unable to find any at all, actually I think food is way to common in this game it is never a problem. Frankly using alt + F4 to avoid combat of any sort is an exploit and you really deserve a ban for that. Most of your post is just l2p issues but I can agree with that the zombie movements is a bit glitch and needs improvement, but as far as I know this is something rocket want to fix :). Oh and there is no way ANY type of mechanics or feature in a game can stop people from wanting to exploit/cheat, ones a cheater always a cheater. I think it's really good that you might even get banned for using alt + F4ing to much very appreciated change!

Use 'sleeping bags' to save session progress. Hopping/Alt+F4 fix

It's an interesting idea could work, but personally I'm gonna get fucked since I always forget the save stuff xd -
"Scaling" zombie difficulty based on food availability
Grodenn replied to hkurban's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like it! Maybe even adjust the amount of zombies in the area with the same or similar system? (Gief way more zombies than now!). -
You are far from the only one with that problem but at the same time I think that having multiply characters would some what kill the feel this game have. You have to consider how this character system would be used, storing gear on alt's, creating new char to gather hard earned supplies (like medical stuff from hospitals), run with medical supplies to your main who have a broken bone (or any other condition), be able to roam around in a city killing people without risking your main (killing for lulz without ANY penalty at all) well I think you get the picture. This would be exploited to death prolly in ways I can't even think of atm. Bottom line is that it will take out the feel of the perma death and the fear that poses which would completely change this game into your normal shooter. The fear of death is a very important part for making this game unique.

Underground Bases? Opens a whole new World of possibilities...
Grodenn replied to mazeash@mail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This already exists in the Six Launcher (just click the little yellow star at the left). -
Cooperate doing what? gathering gear? Well that is a very quick story done very fast without the fear of getting killed by other players. Shooting zombies? Well yeah that would be fun for about a day (they are way to easy already combined with the threat of players). I don't actually think I ever died to a zombie, hum maybe ones when I was tabbed out in loading screen for a new char and I zombie killed me at spawn before I tabbed up into the game again.

1. Having one pve and one pvp community will not work because either group will push for more content for their specific area just a dumb fucking split. 2. Having pve and pvp servers would require dayz to use 2 different hive's otherwise you could just gear up on a pve server and then join a pvp server with the best loot (exploit the system). 3. There is no real pve content in this game. 4. This game was made with pvp in mind and NOT to restrict ANY player choices, anyone should be able to pick their on path in game not before the game is actually launched. Basically if you don't like pvp you are playing the wrong game period.
-
I really think you are playing the wrong game mate, pvp IS the game. Yes KOS is rather boring after a while but the only reason it is that way is because there is no incentive to NOT shoot other players (actually it will just involve a lot of risk and 0 reward). Oh and how exactly would this game be fun in a pve environment? Are you going to run around kill zombies all day or what? There is no end game and when you have all the gear there is it would be damn fucking boring if you where not able to kill other players. It would also ruin the whole concept of the hard (well one can always hope it will be harder than today anyway :)) and very deadly game dayz is.
-
2. the zombies could be buffed (better/harder to avoid than the current dayz ones) 3. it's a ripoff of dayz (yes it was made first, but in everyone's eyes, since it was announced second, it seems like a ripoff. whether or not you consider this con when choosing is completely up to you) 4. overall gameplay could be far more difficult (less food, less ammo, more zombies, whatever other complaints you have) How are any of these cons? I mean harder zombies and more difficult gameplay is what is needed for dayz for a more intriguing game. The zombies are way way to easy right now actually kinda retarded how easy they are.

Kicks by ping, and why its annoying
Grodenn replied to blackout14@live.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
150 ping is not reasonable I would not play on a server if I had a higher ping than 30. People with high ping is ruining the gaming experience and question is why on earth would you play on a low pop server? To cheat the difficulty of the game or what? -
Well I'm not sure about removing them but I do think you should lose all gear inside the tent when you die or something like that (rather easy to exploit though =/ ). Death barley is a punishment when you have all the top tired weapons stored in a camp that you just can go and pick up when you die.

Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ
Grodenn replied to @Williamcullum1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well it's not really the same thing, this is not an e-sport game. You can't "win" dayz there is no goal or sport element in the game (if you compare with let's say counter strike or starcraft), you can't beat someone in the way you beat them in a tournament or a competition. In this world you are free to do what ever you like and killing someone could alter and change the plan the person behind the screen had. This is what you can relate too and feel empathy for,(now this will obviously not happen if you kill someone who deliberately started to shoot at you first). -
Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ
Grodenn replied to @Williamcullum1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Eh not a true emotion? The fuck have you been smoking, it doesn't really matter how or why you feel like you do it is still a real and legit emotion, just cut that BS.I also think you are confusion the guilt emotion as guilt for "murder", I hardly think anyone have guilt feelings for taking a virtual life but rather for the character loss for the other person. Every character is played by a real human being and you can for sure relate to them because you know how you feel yourself when you die on a character that you spend a lot of time on. How is that wrong in any way to feel bad for killing someone who posed no treat to you, it is a TRUE emotion because it's an interaction with an other human. Does it really matter if it happened to be in a virtual world? I really think you are playing the wrong type of game with that idea of human feelings or maybe even any game at all? -
Don't force servers and players to beta patch update - Stick to final release!
Grodenn replied to adharma's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The reason why its bad to restrict the updates etc is because it will result in a longer developing time. This is an alpha (in other words a TEST), I really like that there is so many updates it clearly shows how dedicated and hard working the dev team is. I can't understand why you think forcing the latest patch is a bad idea considering its aimed at gathering data to stop exploits, or maybe you are one of the bastards that are cheating?
