Hello fellow DayZ players! As you all know patch 1.7.2.5 has been released awhile ago. With this patch we saw humanity back on the debug monitor. When I first noticed my humanity I was in for quite a shock. I knew I was a bandit, since I played the sniper in our squad, and had racked up quite alot of murders. I also enjoyed the bandit side of the game, shooting first, ask questions later. My humanity was -110000. The only thing I felt when I saw the number, was shame. So I decided to turn over a new leaf, and become a good guy. My new mission is to get to the promised land of a Hero skin. I've already started out, patching up and helping survivors I meet on my endeavours. This is roughly were I'm at atm: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/2012081300001g.jpg/ I will also stop by the forums, to check if anyone needs any medical attention. I know I probably won't be whitelisted anytime soon, seeing I've been a bandit the entire time I've played this game. If you or anyone you know are in a pickle. Feel free to drop a PM or a comment down below, and I will try to respond to as many as I can. This post will also be updated with news on my humanity, and probably some stories along the way. I don't know if there has been more of these kinds of posts, just thought I would post it here to let you guys know that not every bad guy will stay bad, and that this game is constantly evolving. Hope to see you ingame! Torby.

How can you know I'm not heavily camouflaged? Btw, I'm making exceptions on the sole fact that I can. I can do whatever the fuck I want. And I do it well mind you. I don't mind dying. I like to analyze my death, finding out exactly what I did wrong, and how to avoid it in the future. I like your cocky attitude, I just hope you can back it up once you encounter us. 90% of "lone wolfs" fire one shot and then they alt-f4 like the little bitches they are. -

Believe me bro. If you ever encounter me, anywhere, chances are you'll die. You might get me, but my squad will most certainly get retaliation. Especially if you're a lone wolf. To your first point. Please don't take what I say out of context. I said I had a avoid-or-shoot policy. If I can avoid, I will, with the exception of sniping in Cherno ofcourse, which I only occasionally do. When I do, I'm totally aware that It's not exactly a fair fight, but the people down there knows the risk they're taking and they should be aware that there might be snipers around. The point you make about me only being used to killing people from afar in cities, are wrong I'm afraid. I'm spent hours looting airfields and such. Been in douzins of squadfights, were 5 of us are shooting at another 5 man squad. Please don't state things that you can only asume. I'll be watching out for you mate :) -

I love how peoples morals are all like black and white in this game. If you've sniped someone in Cherno. you're a douchebag. Some of the people looting in Cherno, aren't saints either. I've been killed by "friendly" and "innocent" people alot. Even when I had just spawned and all I carried was a bandage. As soon as they see me, they scream friendly. Only to shot me in the back once I let my guard down. It's not like everyone in the city have a noobtag on them. I have a strict avoid-or-shoot policy now. I also enjoy shooting people in cities with a sniper. Don't really feel bad anymore either, because I know they would've shot me the minute they saw me, if they had the chance. I welcome the OP to find me, if I'm ever in his server and happen to be sniping. I would enjoy the challenge of having a fair fight. -
How populated is Green Mountain?

Was it worth it though? The emotional scars that place left us. Ravenholm haunts my nightmares. I can't imagine what Green Mountain would do. -

I don't get why you went? Countless people keep telling you stories about this place. You remember what Alyx told us? "We don't go to Ravenholm." We went there. Remember how much shit that got us? Leave Green Mountain alone man. -
So every bandit has to have a sniper and be near a city, camping? I like to play as a bandit, but if I'm going to kill someone. I'm gonna be damn sure I can loot the corpse. Bandits aren't necessarily snipers killing for the fun of it. I would describe those people more as douchebags. For example I like to seek out highly populated places like Stary Sobor or any airfields and engage people I see there. Chances are that they are alert and ready for a fight. They also probably have some good loot for me if I succeed in killing them. The thrill leading to/the fight itself gives you array of emotions I've never encountered in my gaming history.

Rocket is trying to play on peoples feelings in this game. You're supposed to feel paranoia, anger, happiness, shock, etc. Going around killing NPC's offer very little emotional response. You're killing something that won't feel anything when it dies. It will get mundane really fast. I get that it's frustrating getting shot on sight, but it's not like you can't shoot back. You can even spot him, not shoot, and walk the other way. No one is forcing you to try to interact with this individual if you don't want to. If you want to, you can go to only lowrisk places getting loot from there and be happy killing zombies for the rest of your DayZ days. If you go to a highly populated place, be prepared to interact with other people, and most people will calculate that the risk they're running by trusting you, is too high. What's more threatening to a person during a zombie apocalypse? The mindless zombie which is very easy to predict? Or the living human being who has emotions that are almost impossible to predict?

I like that idea. IF you could find like 10 - 20 people to band togheter and build a fortress. That would be awesome. Both as a survivor, but also as a bandit trying to loot the fortress. Maybe the bandits have to band togheter aswell to be able to take it out. So much potential in this game. You can do whatever you want.

Let's all just hold hands and be friendly. Looting places and killing zombies will be interesting a month from now...
-
First of all. I don't think you can just sit here right now and say: "This is what I would've done if the the world were invaded by a zombie virus." or "This is how I would've reacted." There is no telling what people would do to survive. Even if you are the nicest person in the world, with the best intentions, you probably won't be that way after the apocalypse hits. An event that big would mess with anyones morals. Second of all. This is as stated a game. And if I'm at a military loot place, I will automatically shot on sight. Because I want all the good loot for myself. I'm not willing to share it with someone else, if I don't have to. I can also presume with some probability that the guy I'm shooting at, has atleast some kind of weapon. Maybe he even has something that I need. Also, chances are that as soon as he sees me, he'll open fire. Better being safe than sorry.

When you're at the airfield. Expect to be shot on sight.

Without bandits this game would be boring. Simple as that. No suspense. No thrill. Just roaming around looting. The zombies are maybe a threat the first 10 - 15 minutes when you have no gun and you have to go around and loot. Later on you can just run away from them, even if you're totally out of ammo. Lategame the zombies are there to draw attention to the reckless, so they can be put down by the more stealthy. I agree that killing newly spawned people in Elektro is just retarded seeing they offer no fight, nor loot. But there is nothing like the thrill of encountering a fully geared squad, and taking them on. Even if you're 800 meters away. They still can offer up quite a fight, flanking you and what not. In real life, snipers don't run around shooting people to pieces, laying still for maybe 1 minute. They lay still for hours, maybe days, waiting for that perfect shot. When you finally get it, it's about maintaining your cool and hitting the target. DayZ offer what atleast resembles that feel.

I've given you our explanation. We did what we thought would be necessary to cope with what we THOUGHT was bots. I never, and I repeat NEVER, stated that we knew for a fact that they were bots. They may have been people just trying to get a good spawn for like 50 deaths. Nevertheless, we took action. And yes, we could've just kicked the once that kept dying, but we found it a real hassle trying to differentiate beetween those dying a couple of times and those dying all the time. Therefore we decided to keep everyone kicked for a period of time, to see if the bots/douchebags taking up a slot for 3 hours only to die over and over again, came back to the server again. Which they did. It's very easy to make accusations. Especially on a mod like Day Z, where admin priveliges can be abused for personal gain. But as stated earlier, we had no egoistic motives for kicking. I welcome you to join our server when it's up again. (Had some problems yesterday. Should be fixed shortly). Don't know what else to say really, except that this will be my last comment on this post. I've given you our explanation, and our sincerest apology. Not much else to do but wait for a decision from the dev. I truly hope to see you guys online on lu209 again in the future, and perhaps we'll reacquire the love for the game again togheter. I know atleast I've lost it with all this drama. Peace out. Torby
