    Worst Game Experience ever

Nah, he's just being bashed for being a whiner. And for being too lazy to look for solutions to his problems instead of whining about them, of course.
  2. DayZ is only hard if you're used to play spoon-fed games. It's as "hard" as someone who wants to play Master System's After Burner and buys Flight Simulator. Having been a fan of simulation for many years (from racing to flying to war) and having played Arma 2 before it only took me a couple of sessions to find DayZ "too easy". I put it between brackets because, after you learn the basics of DayZ (i.e., how close you can get to a zombie w/o aggroing it and how to lose an aggroed zombie) you're pretty much left with Arma 2's PvP. OP, yours is a nice post, but if you think this "cracked the dark glass of gaming"... come on. I was there when people refused to play Indianapolis 500 (released in 1989) because it was "too complicated", allowing you to set up camber, springs and whatnot and get into a 500 mile race with a very unforgiving damage model. Instead, people preferred to keep playing "Test Drive", the Accolade classic from 1987 which had no physics, no opponents, no damage model, no car setup... but was "plug and have fun for 10 minutes" kind of thing. Did car simulations die? Of course not. But we still have rFactor/iRacing and Need for Speed XX (because they need to invent a new one per year to keep it interesting). This is as old as gaming. The hilarious point of this all is BI launched a open world war sim and people thought it was too complicated. They thought BF P4F is much more fun. Then they said: ok, ok, "war sim with zombies"... and it becomes a hit! I'm not saying DayZ doesn't give you a unique experience. It does. For a couple of hours (or a few hours if you are not used to hard-core gaming). Then you're left with Arma 2 in civilian outfits and Ghillie Suits. The biggest asset DayZ did, imo, was to create an objective within Arma 2. Survival. And to make it feasible without team work. Because if you joined public Arma 2 servers... it's hilarious. Most people are incapable of realizing what the objective is (unless it is as simple as "capture a flag") and get so frustrated they team kill within the base. They are incapable of getting out of the base for that, too. When they do realize what the objective is, they are absolutely incapable of teaming up, not even with ONE fellow fighter. And Arma 2 is damn hard with a team, let alone without one. So kudos for the mod. It stripped out Arma's complications to say: ok, here it is you survivor. You don't need to team up and you have no objectives but surviving. They made the game *easy*, almost drawn for children. And that's one of the reasons it reaches a much broader audience than Arma 2 alone could. So, sorry OP, I couldn't disagree with you more on most of your main points.

logout timer as possible ALT+F4 solution

This. There are even pools regarding how long the timer should be. OP, your searching capabilities are indeed not the best... the might even be the worst.
  4. Pretty much what says on the thread title. I don't have huge DayZ experience but have played many hours of it over a few weeks. I do, however, have quite a bit of Arma 2 experience which made the learning process so much faster. I am part of an Arma 2 squad and am looking for proper team works and tactics within DayZ. If you have a team but you're not sure of what formation, spacing and flanking are, please don't contact me. I give strong preference to teams who will take a gun fight seriously and are not chickens who run away with alt-f4 when they take the first hit. I'm looking to fight bravely to the last breath and to die with dignity if duty so calls. What I offer in return is a serious player, who knows the time to have fun, jerk around and laugh about but also the time to listen to orders and actively help you carry out your objective, being it by covering your 6, flanking the foes, acting as a medic and whatnot as a cog in your team. I'm geared but don't have anything valuable on me right now so setting me up would be just a waste of time ;) What you get is the player not the gear, we all know it's not hard to gear up especially with a team. Edit: based in the UK.

    Forever stuck at loading

And of course, why make things easy? Any game on earth would tell us "you've got the wrong version" instead of making us wait 20 minutes looking at a black loading screen.

    Worst Game Experience ever

I have to laugh a lot at this one. I usually also stay away from this kind of "conversation" but def. this one was too much for letting go. Think a bit who is in ignorance here. You are used to other games and have no clue whatsoever on how to play this one. Then you call people who learnt it ignorants? Do you even know what ignorance means? And I'm not even a DayZ fan. I'm a big Arma fan though. Don't forget, this is not like the other games you played. Your tactics from CoD, Battlefield or cute RPGs won't work. And don't forget, this is an Arma 2 mod. Have you played Arma 2? If you can't learn how to play DayZ straight away, don't panic. Learn Arma 2 first. Try the campaign. On hard settings. Considering how much you're interested in learning (instead of moaning) I guess you'll give it up after a couple of days without progressing much. Then you can load Battlefield back and play your ordinary "run'n'shoot" type of game. You can eventually prove me wrong though, and learn how to do it. Having situation awareness, stealth, going prone and crawling A LOT, engaging and disengaging the foes at the right times and only when circumstances favour you. With the very basics you can get into a town, loot the hell out of it and leave it without a single zed noticing you. In fact, any of the good DayZ players will complain the zeds do not respond enough as you can crawl from behind them getting as close as being able to pinch their infected asses without them noticing. Bottom line is: man up and learn the game (yes it can be hard if you're used to soft core games) or go play something else. Whining that DayZ is DayZ and not something else is just... lame. edit: oh, yeah, and my system is very low end and it takes me 30 seconds at most to spawn or load the game. 20 minutes, wtf?
  7. "Saving" vehicles, tents and whatnot is just so lame... game should auto save all those things before server reset and that's it, just like it saves profiles when one leaves the server.
  8. Yeah. In this case, leave the body of the disconnector for a few seconds on the server, just like the OP said. It's an old idea already, but a must-have one for this game.

    Logout/Login Timer on same servers

I wouldn't like this. I'd hate to lose my time waiting for a countdown to go. Just let the player log out if he wants, but leave the player's "body" on the server for those seconds.

    About people who instantly disconnect

This. Easy and quick solve, no down sides. Prevents disconnecting from zed attacks, too. I'd even say 20 or 30 seconds as 10 seconds might be enough to hide and disconnect since it could take a bit for the other player to find you (or the zeds to beat you up).
