Am I missing something, or has there been no update regarding DayZ Standalone since May 13?
maxsteele replied to maxsteele's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sure, but those interviews were just talking about features in the game and such. They didn't talk about the actual progress on development. I find it a little unnerving that they went radio silence on the official dev blog since May 13th.... -
This was a post I made January 7th, which was met with some hostility. Take a look at today's Joystiq article: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/22/dean-hall-dayz-standalone-alpha-wont-launch-until-at-least-jun/

Nah, you're not messing with me. You're just saying that to make yourself look better. You're being a dick. But that's ok, because you have the right to be a dick. Call me on my incorrect prediction when DayZ standalone is available with locational equipment damage and disease tracking in February. I say it won't be ready until the end of the year.

Why are you attacking me for having an informed opinion? If you don't agree, that's fine, but this open hostility isn't necessary.
-
Not unsubstantiated. I get this from following production timelines of many other games and the statements made by the development team in the most recent update.

I quoted what I'm basing my delay on. They were going to release a standalone version of the game that was modified slightly from just the mod, 'packaged simply and sold', and now they are redeveloping the engine completely. The inventory system has been completely overhauled and now there's talk about new features such as disease tracking and locational item damage. As the devs become more comfortable with making the game their own rather than a modified version of the mod for stand-alone use, they will start coming up with more complex ideas on how to enhance the game experience. With those ideas comes time to code and bug fix. All of this adds up to longer development time and more cost. That's where my delay figure comes from.

I think microtransactions are optional for any game that has them. I'm not sure why people get upset when a game has the option. It doesn't bother me if a game has microtransactions because I simply don't buy them.

The War Z is a functional zombie survival game. While it may not have features the developers wanted to have in, it does not take away from the fact that it is a zombie survival game and is 100% playable as such. Scamming would be taking people's money for a zombie game and then not having a game to play. That didn't happen.

And this my friends is what is called 'feature creep'. I put a public test version of DayZ standalone at June at the earliest, with an actual retail release late Fall of 2013. Don't hold your breath waiting for this one.

Spawning as a bandit (Havent killed anyone)
maxsteele replied to Sheldomaus's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I had a similar issue. I was on a server for about a half hour. I was running around with a couple of people in a city, and I had killed maybe 5 zombies total. I hadn't killed a single player. I just logged on, and my stats say I have killed 103 zombies, 74 headshots, 3 murders, and 1 bandit kill. I'm also now a bandit. I was also sitting the woods just outside of some type of military base, not inside a building of the city I was in when I logged out a few hours ago. Since I just signed onto this game for the first time today, I can assure you I am nowhere good enough to have those kind of stats. It looks like I've received someone else's stats and character location. My name in-game is Lenzi. I would appreciate it if all my stats were reset to zero please. -
Want to host a DayZ Server? Read in here.

Greetings! I have a couple of questions regarding running a server: 1) What OS do you recommend? You have said a Windows OS, but must it be Windows 2008 Server? Or will Windows 7 Home Premium suffice? 2) What type of per player bandwidth is required? I have Frontier FIOS 35 Mbps up / 35 Mbps down. I would not want to chew up 100% of my bandwidth. Could I get away with throttling the server to something like 10 Mbps / 10 Mbps ? Thanks in advance!
