Once broke my legs turning round while prone in a small space. Luckily it was behind the wall in the hospital and not a single fuck was given. Dying is one of the best thing in DayZ though, not just because tooling up is one of the best parts of the game but because you realize that you never really owned anything. The more you try to own your stuff the more it owns you and the less fun you have. Now I just roll with a Lee Enfield and if something better comes along great, if not IDGAF. -

I will not shoot on sight a new spawn with just standard equipment or a player without a weapon. I generally do not 'shoot on sight', I first observe their behavior. If their behavior is hostile to me or another player with lesser weapons (especially the unarmed) I will shoot. Beyond that I have no rules of engagement every situation is different and any codified rules will be deficient. -

UK6 has announced restarts. Messages displayed at 30,25,20,15,10,5,4,3,2,1 minutes before restart, you can't miss it. Take note other server owners - this is how it should be done. -

AS50, 10 Mags, G17, Ghillie Suit and NVG from the some corpse. Hacker no doubt. He killed me almost straight after I picked it up. Other then that the Bizon I really liked. Shit versus players but great for taking out zombies that get too close with silent headshots. -

Climbed onto the roof of the hospital in Elektro after hearing gunshots. On the way up the ladder I spot another survivor below. On the roof I find one survivor and a freshly dead one, still bleeding. I don't hesitate and shoot the one who is still alive with my Lee Enfield. Murder. Oops, my bad. Then the survivor I spotted below comes over the top of the ladder. I shoot because I think she must have been the one in a firefight with the rooftop fellows. I hit her twice, she gets me once breaking my leg, we're both bleeding. I'm just about too finish her off and loot the three bodies when 'Session lost' - the server restarts without warning while we're both still bleeding out, face to face about 10m apart on the roof of the hospital. Oh shit! I rejoin still bleeding with 500 blood and somehow bandage up with just 200 blood left. The bodies are gone and medical loot has not spawned because of me spawning on the building. I have no morphine, no blood. One zombie punch, one bullet and I'm dead and that bitch could log in at anytime. I eat all the food that I have and get about 1200 blood. Then I crawl down and axe the hospital windows, no shots have yet been fired in Elektro. Nothing spawned inside yet, fuck. I go back to the relative safety of the roof (given my suicidal broken leg and Lee Enfield combination). Finally loot spawns but only rubbish on the roof. I climb down. On the way down I hear shots, lots of them. Elektro is lighting up in a battle for new loot spawn. I grab some morphine from the box at the back of the hospital. Finally. I still only have 1200 blood so I'm thinking get out of Elektro and I can get get myself some nice juicy steaks. I'm right on the outskirts, "I'm going to fucking make this shit, I'm the fucking Daddy!" I think, just one last dash to the tree-line. Suddenly, M16 fire fucking everywhere some noob is spraying me from the hip I dive for a bush....'You Are Dead'. It's not that bad but it just happened so it cuts pretty deep. The time when a guy gave me a blood transfusion and then I covered him as he went to the school/police station to get a gun only for him to come back and shoot me in the face was pretty devastating too though >:(

That's true but people don't need to eat and drink every hour either. Finding food and drink adds challenge to the game - something the game is lacking. Shitting and sleeping makes no sense and I would never suggest they be added to gameplay. Shitting can be done anywhere, anytime so there is no challenge and therefore no value in adding it to the game and sleeping is a non-activity, why would you put non-play into a game? Necessitating sex makes little sense in game also with all those goats wandering around. There is a basic plot: you are a survivor of a zombie breakout, the country is in anarchy. From there on out there is no plot development. I'm not saying there should be a rails-like plot to follow either, only that performing certain already in game actions should give the opportunity of customization. That is a risk-reward system but it's not rails. I agree with you that non-restricted chance based customization (clothes loot) is what's more important however. The best way to help people develop their own stories and become attached to their character is to allow them to define themselves with customization. -

Do not read if you cannot handle critique. The best way to encourage team-play is to require it. People who get zero human contact go mad, interaction with others is a human need - so make this a part of the game. If you fail to interact with others every few days then make it so that make it so that your character mumbles to them-self so they are louder, make them hallucinate other players and zombies and hear non-existent sounds around them, make the characters hair and clothes become disheveled and the characters become twitchy. The fundamental lacking this game faces is character development (and story development as an extension). What makes every film and book you love so much so compelling is that the characters change and so does the plot. In DayZ, as is, everybody looks the same, there is no character differentiation beyond weaponry, and that's not real. The lack of customization means that friends who play together often find themselves in a gun fight having to guess as to whether or not the player they are pointing their gun at is a friend or foe, that's beyond unrealistic at close ranges. Character development is at the root of many people's dissatisfaction with the game at this stage, once they get weapons, plentiful food and a vehicle they have no avenues for further development for that character. The plot doesn't change either, the game is still about survival and once you've mastered that then what? Usually you go shoot someone for sport. Competitive combat is at least some form of entertainment. So I say bring back customization of clothing and introduce a non-optional 'crazy' mask. Make it so that increasing customization is dependent on the skills you have acquired and not just luck. If you have lots of murders you alone can find bandit clothes and choose to wear them. If you are a medic you alone can find medic clothes and choose to wear them. The idea being to make players become increasingly attached to their characters and their progression. We've already had the basic humans needs food, water and shelter/temperature included in the game, it's time to include companionship. (pic related: it's maslow's hierarchy of needs) -

turn off all post processing, turn AA way down, turn 3d resolution to same as game resolution, turn down terrain detail, turn down object detail more so, set texture to very high and video memory to default -
I've had this, usually in coincidence with an absence of zombies spawning. Not sure if server glitch or bug. I've also experienced mass hatchet spawns, where almost every loot spawn point in an area (usually a group of barns) spawns hatchets, and nothing else.

I like the new aggression. The zombies clipping through walls is now a pretty big problem though.
