Who the hell sets up base at Prigorodky? I'd be surprised if experienced players did. Probably a scripters base. Just because admin were there doesn't mean it was their base though. I don't know if technically they did anything wrong. Maybe using their admin power to see who killed them and then chase you down? I'm not sure if that's allowed or not. What was the server name? Also, post vid.

I'm pretty sure you can get an XBOX style controller from Microsoft to work with ARMA 2. I don't know if it's a simple thing or if it takes a lot of effort though. I met a guy in game who was using a controller, though he didn't manage particularly well with it. I wouldn't recommend it. Experimenting with TF2 is a good idea mastering the mouse for shooting will take a little while and ARMA has a lot of controls to contend with.

You find 3 vehicles in one night and consecutively trash them all because you're a retard? First I found an ATV, repaired it's two wheels, engine, fuel tank, the usual. Then I do with it what ATV's do best (no, not flip) go offroads, I go on a search of the Northern forrests for vehicles. Well I hit the jackpot mofo because about 30 minutes in I come across a frikkin chopper and a bus. They're both all green, the chopper has no fuel, the bus half a tank and I have 3 full jerry cans on me. So it's dilemma time, I want that chopper, am I going to make fuel runs in the ATV to fill it up or will 3 jerry cans worth be enough to get the chopper to the nearest available refuel point. ...three jerry cans was not sufficient. The chopper downed in the far North of the NWAF seconds away from a refueling point. I then went back to my ATV with all 2K of blood, passing out many times along the way. About 30 seconds after getting on I flip it. So I run to the bus and after driving through the slow ass dirt tracks of the north finally reach Vybor. Due to the dark and my unfamiliarity with the town I presume I can just roll this big bus right on through their stopping at the supermarket on the way. 30 MINUTES LATER I'M STILL FUCKING IN THERE TRAPPED BETWEEN CARS AND ROADBLOCKS. Finally I get out and say 'fuck it I'll walk' at which point a zombie knocks me out cold and chews me to death. It was never supposed to end like this....

I agree. You'd need a different PSU if you went NVIDIA something like this so going NVIDIA increases the cost on two fronts. I wouldn't recommend it for a budget build.

The link in the first post? That's no good, it's maybe two years old now. You really want to go Intel here's why. This is a really good PC. Now if you want to go cheaper you can look for cheaper alternatives to the case, motherboard, smaller hard drive and re-use your old DVD drive and it will come in a little over $400. It will also outperform the crap out of that one you linked too. Graphics card wise you want something with the following naming convention AMD: 6770 or 7770, NVIDIA: 560 Ti or 660Ti minimum. Anything below that isn't even designated as a gaming graphics card, it's categorised as a 'multimedia' card so just forget about anything you see with that(the 8400GS that you have in your current PC, that's a 'multimedia' card). The AMD is the better value at the moment so I'd go that route.

Is this how you intend to harvest my GUID? I like the idea of community locked servers as a solution to combat scripters but I'm uncomfortable with trusting private hives and servers that use them. There must be a better solution then this made available.

I found a dead guy on the beach at Kamenka the other day just after spawning, turns out he had a pretty big gun on him, a M240 with a scope on it(yes, scripted). He also had four hundred rounds. 'Oh boy' I thought, 'I've joined the right server here...Oh, well, when in Rome...'. I ran into Cherno and climbed the tallest roof, I shot two fully decked snipers before the scripters helicopter decided to buzz me. Well I don't take kindly to getting buzzed, I lit that sucker up, but the M240 is pretty darn loud and another sniper took me out just as I was expecting to see the chopper plummet to earth. Then I quit the server for something a little less COD deathmatchy.

Currently rolling with Crossbow and M9 SD up in Berezino. This place is a ghost town yet it's absolutely full of loot. I've been itching to try the crossbow out against a bandit but I've yet to see one up here. The sights on this thing are - to use Scottish technical lingo - pish. Once you've used it for a while you learn where the zeroing is and you can get headshots on the reg. I went into one of those big blue doored industrial buildings and fired it at the wall until I got a good read on it.

So I meet this guy, Kenny, in Elektro and we team up for a bit, loot the town and kill a pair of bandits who tried to gain our trust only to attack us with an axe when we didn't want to come North with them (to some tents they said they'd found, whole thing was very sketchy). We both log soon after as it's gotten really dark and we add each other on Steam. After some dinner we chat on Steam and decide to team up again for a while. We head to Cherno and I spot two snipers to the Northwest in the treeline, I sneak up on them and kill one, heavily injure the other but he logs just in time because my bandit skin was being applied as I was pumping AK bullets into his head. I take an M14 and some other swag from the dead sniper. We're now in Cherno and meet with one of Kenny's friends who has been added to the Steam chat when I spot two helicopters on the roof of one of the buildings (scripted ofc but they look like fun), we grab as many Jerry Cans so one of us can make a run for them with fuel (if needed) while the others cover. We've now been playing about 3 hours together now (see where this is going..) and we're at the base of the tower. I'll be making the run for the chopper because I'm a decent pilot but my blood is low so I tell Kenny to transfuse me "Ok" he says "come in here" and they both duck into an industrial building behind me. So I get inside and Kenny says "Me and my friend here have actually been working together this entire time... Drop all your stuff on the floor, now." I have an M14, they have an AK-74 each, I don't like this proposition, I drop them both. The Steam chat goes silent for a moment and Kenny finally pipes up "...we were only joking.", ... so I hide their bodies, block them both from Steam and fly off into the sunset in my Huey. Jokes on you motherfucker.

I have one in Berezino. I require regular M9 mags in exchange.

The bottlenecks here are in order: Graphics card CPU Your RAM is fine, a little slow but not as big a problem as the above. According to this page you have a G33 Express motherboard, (you should confirm this by running Speccy or something similiar before upgrading). That means the CPU that you'd need would be a Socket 775 type manufactured on 45nm+ process so realistically you're looking at a Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad. Now Intel doesn't make processors for these sockets or with that process size anymore so you are looking at buying one second-hand (new-ones would be incredibly overpriced if anyone actually had them in stock). If you are going to do the upgrade make it the quad core, there is no point half-assing an upgrade. So you want a Core 2 Quad - either a Q6600 2.4GHz, Q8300 2.5GHz, Q8400 2.66GHz, Q9400/Q9450 2.66GHz, Q9500/9550 2.83GHz (higher the model number/frequency the bettter). These are great chips, great overclockers but that HP motherboard won't allow you to do any of that so these chips will still limit you a little bit. You can find multitudes of them on ebay for between £/$50 and $150, they were extremely popular chips so readily available (make sure you get one with a heatsink and fan as the one you have for a dual-core will not be sufficient). Ok, so that's the hard part out of the way. Graphics card wise I'd go new. It depends on your budget but you should be looking at a AMD Radeon HD 7770 with 1GB of memory at least, that's about £/$100. So you should be able to upgrade significantly for under £/$250. The lowest you would want to spend on a new build would be about £/$500, something like this, and that would give you maybe another 10-15 frames per second on top of the upgrade I outlined. For £/$1000 dollars you could get another 20 on top of that. This game is really demanding so if I was you I'd go for the most expensive that you can afford to do. The upgrade will make the game a lot more playable then your current system, but it's all going to be on the lowest settings. Whereas the new systems will allow you to get something that's closer to really aesthetically pleasing experience. If you need any help further with the upgrade or building a system let me know.
