Sniper Rifles and Sniper Role Changes.

Hey Snipers -
Unlucky OP, shit happens. Live and learn. Well, live, then die, and learn, but you get my point. I've been betrayed maybe 3 times, it's part of the game.

Desire aesthetics, covetous of shekels. Oy vey.

Shouldn't it be 'War-Machine Gaming' though...

Weapon Stats on Day Z DB/Wiki are wrong?
puppetworx replied to andrewmont's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, let me clarify. DayZ runs off of a hybrid of code and data from: Arma 2 (BIS stable release, current 1.11.86734) Arma 2: OA (BIS stable release, current 1.62.95248) Arma 2: OA Beta (BIS beta release, latest version 1.62.97239) DayZ Mod (independent alpha release, latest version 1.7.2.6) If you have a Steam version of the game Steam will auto-update the official releases for you (1,2) - though this can be disabled. If you have a non-Steam version you have to manually update official releases. DayZ Commander and Six Launcher only update the OA Beta and DayZ Mod (3,4), they do not update the official releases from BIS (1,2). DayZ uses the OA Beta engine files (3) alongside data from the official releases (1,2). If you have the old OA release (1.60.87580 instead of 1.62.95248) you will still be able to one shot zombies with an M1911 and you will still be able to one shot players with a Lee Enfield. -
Well fuck, then I have no idea what you're talking about! lol

Weapon Stats on Day Z DB/Wiki are wrong?
puppetworx replied to andrewmont's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's really weird. I remember talking about this with people at the time of the nerf (which comes from the ArmA 2 Beta patch, not DayZ). The M1911 used to one shot zombies but after that update it took many bullets. A lot of people stayed on the older patch in order to keep the one shot ability and expecting the DayZ devs to reverse the nerf. Examples: http://dayzmod.com/f.../page__hl__nerf http://dayzmod.com/f...ed-weapon-nerf/ My current character currently rocks a revolver and has killed 429 zombies (299 headshots) I can tell you conclusively that for me non-headshots with a revolver do not kill with one shot (unless they're high upper chest/neck). Edit: That second link has the answer. The nerf was not it the Beta update as I said but in regular update from 1.60 to 1.62. Those of us who have the game auto-updated by Steam etc. cannot one shot zombies, those who have not auto-update and are still running 1.60 (which the beta patches still run on) can one shot zombies. What. The. Fuck. -
Is it just me or Rocket wants DayZ to go in PvP direction?
puppetworx replied to killzone_kid's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good find OP, let the speculation and fury begin! These look reminiscent of Steam achievements, but there are so few that they are probably just a placeholder following a brainstorm. -
The boats were probably teleported there by some skiddie. I'm forever finding all the boats beached on land from the actions of some skiddie. I found a PBX at the north edge of the map once, the funny thing was when I got close to it I started to hear waves lapping, the boat creates ambient sound even when stationary. Oh, I just realized what you're probably talking about! It's marked as 'factory' on the map, it sits on the road between Orlovets and Polana but it's commonly accessed by climbing the hill from Dolina to it's South. Sometimes vehicles spawn there, but not boats (unless there was a bug in the game at the time), most likely some skiddie teleported all vehicles to that location when he failed to find any. Here's some random video of the place, I'm pretty sure that's what you're talking about - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HygjJryj0-Y

Shoot each others legs so they break and then kill yourselves. Even if you tried to swim back I think you would die from thirst/famine before you made it and it would only serve to waste hours of your time.

Neck/upper-chest often counts as a headshot for some reason. -

Should I upgrade my CPU or GPU?
puppetworx replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The GPU is your biggest bottleneck. You'll need to go 79XX series (or equivalent - 670 or 680 GTX) to see a significant increase in performance (a 6970 is roughly equivalent to a 7850). If it's a 6990 you'll gain very little from an upgrade. I'd probably go 7950 as the 7970 is 30-40% more expensive for about 10% greater performance. Actually those two things are never equal...but I understand what you are trying to say nevertheless. Since you're such a wizz with rules mind finding for me the rule stating that servers cannot run scripts?
-
What the actual fuck? Quit Bogarting all the beans Derpy!

Playing the game on officially sanctioned servers is tacit consent that you will play the game as officially intended - that means not using non-game items. The rule against banning banning players for using non-game items was created to protect ignorant offenders, those who didn't know any better. It wasn't created to protect those who know that they are using a non-game item (mens rea). Once you have knowledge that you are using an illicit item it becomes your duty to get rid of it if you are playing on an officially sanctioned server. I'm not an admin but I personally wouldn't ban people for using weapons not in the game unless they repeatedly do it. As someone already showed there is a software solution to this problem already available which warns and gives players 10 minutes to drop any non-game weapons, if they don't comply they get their inventory completely wiped. Rocket has never said that admins are not allowed to wipe the inventory of offenders, so everyone stays happy. B)

I'm still wondering how i'm running this game so badly
puppetworx replied to pixelbl4ster@yahoo.ca's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have a very similar setup OP (5750, Intel Quad @3.2GHz) and get the same results (50-60fps, 30-45fps in cities). I've spent a lot of time and tried varying every setting to maximize my framerate and minimize stutter by using the ArmA2: OA benchmark along with the FRAPS benchmarking routine. The config I came up with was this which sounds very similar to yours. Long story short: there is nothing more you can do to boost performance beyond a hardware upgrade. I'll be punting for a 7770 in time for the standalone release probably as I've identified that the CPU is not the limiting factor. -
