I heard that's a really safe place to go - the bottom of sniper hill.

My personal theory is that announcing that you're going to leave is always an offer to be killed if the person is insecure. I think your common garden-variety bandit (especially teenage ones) are desperate to be the dominant powerful people in society. Most bandits, I believe, are coming from a competitive shooter background which means win-lose is the name of the game, they don't even consider themselves to have won anything unless somebody else loses, which is why they kill even the unarmed. When they perceive you as rejecting them by leaving you (the rejector) assume the dominant powerful role, they (the rejectee) assume the weak role and they just lost any power they thought they had which makes them very, very vengeful. This takes a new level of insecurity to act like this...but, welcome to the internet. If you've ever met a skiddie in the game you'll be familiar with this exact scenario. The bandit ones either try to dominate everyone by arming themselves with huge firepower or killing everyone on their whim. The friendly ones give out 'charity' in the form of scripted loot, but if you tell them you don't want it and you don't want to be around them you take away all the power they have and you're back to being the rejector, which they generally don't take kindly to it. If a player is too clingy, too interested, friendly and willing to stick around up front - then I'm worried, because they're probably really insecure. If they're just as wary of me as I am of them - perfect. Then maybe we can roll together for a time but as soon as I sense any overly sketchy behaviour it's time to duck out. I have no issue disappearing from sight and making a quick exit if someone sounds like they want to be my stalker or executioner. It generally works, I've never been betrayed after rolling with someone for over 15 minutes.

Packs of wild zombie children that mock your pathetic little Makarov when you walk by. -
Those bastards are hard to shoot too. Why do they mock us so?
-
Why can't I just ride a pig? Also monkeys are desperately needed in this game, can you imagine having a monkey which pickpockets players AND is your personal butler?? Plus I hear their brains are delicious.

MGS3 "CURE" system for dayz medical system
puppetworx replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That medical system looks sweet. Also how about them fancy sound effects? Ok maybe not, but the rest of it is boss. -
Consoles are lousy, they stink, and nobody who uses them wants a game which has a steep learning curve like DayZ. Nintendo in particular have a bias towards 'fun for all the family' which means games are simple to master, cartoonish and feature non-realistic violence. For the record I'm still pretty sure the Wii U is some sort of sick ongoing practical joke because it looks retarded. If you're going to bundle a screen with a full blown console it should be something more akin to the Occulus Rift then a technicolor Etch-A-Sketch, it looks like something that was designed in the 90s. Truthfully that's probably the only appeal of the Wii U to adults, it manages to convey that quirky retro feel that hipsters are so in love with. In short: fuck the Wii U, I want balls out on the PC.

does anyone even use sub-machine guns?*added poll*
puppetworx replied to t3hnoob's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I prefer the Bizon due to it's enormous 64 capacity helical mags. I only use these guns when silence is required and the risk of bumping into a hostile player is low. Due to the terrible accuracy of submachine gun rounds beyond 50m it's better to roll with some sort too of rifle too. But most people will just choose the M4A1 CCO SD and save themselves the 10+ slots in their backpack since it's accurate to around 150m and deals triple the damage of a submachine gun round. -
Entered A Church with -6548 Humanity, Left with 0 ?
puppetworx replied to Raged's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wow confession? So you're telling me if I take water bottles into the church... -
I've seen skiddies(usually snipers) with shields which make zombies drop dead once they get within a certain radius. It's probably the same script but targeted at players.

Famous last words... Dayz edition
puppetworx replied to Friday N's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Now to just take this glorious sweet loot back to my tent... -
The script kiddie probably looked at his map hack as or after you killed him to see who was close to him, then he killed you both with a script. It's happened to me before, most of these angsty kids go for the nuclear server wide kill option but some actually have a moral code about whom they are entitled to illegitimately kill, bizarrely enough.

A man lends you his fingerbox for 2 minutes and that's how you behave? What in tarnations!

I've never had this problem even though my computer is pretty tame. I do have an SSD though so that might be the difference, apparently the texture loading in ARMA 2 is a common bottleneck. -

Does LeakID represent Bohemia and/or Rocket?
puppetworx replied to kodabar's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wow kodabar, well played sir. I still can't actually figure out what this guy was upto though, or in what way he would benefit. I wouldn't be surprised if he is just running a bot with some kid of heuristics algorithm which trawls for data it thinks (based on who knows what) is copyrighted. Apparently YouTube pulls down videos all the time based on bogus copyright claims which are just taken for granted. Mediafire seems to be another one which does this. It's a dangerous precedent that a mere allegation of wrong-doing can have your data deleted or worse, I do not like it one bit. -

My best friend is a hacker, what should I do?
puppetworx replied to Jamie Jameson's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This don't sit right with me. Twelve posts and you're selling your "best friend" out over the internet giving up his in game ID and Steam account name? Call me crazy but it sounds like you know some guy somewhat well and you have developed some vendetta against him and want to ruin his reputation or get him banned. That or, you're like, the worst friend ever. -
Keep it? I can't even find it! I just fly the chopper in the Editor and pretend I'm in a survival game while wiping the warm tears away from my eyes.

FN FAL: it helms from the same country that came up with the saxophone and the 'big bang theory' of the universe, both of which will get you laid. Case closed.
