You said nothing about creating a fully working program, you simply stated that they should go write some real code. I am concerned by your logic and your immediate need to question someone's intelligence. What counts as a full program? Do you get to decide? If so, I would be concerned. How many lines of code does it need to be? How long does one have to work on it, to ensure they are counted amongst the "cool" group? If I or someone else makes a calculator in any IDE of your choice in a half hour or so, does that count? I'd suggest being more specific if you're going to get upset when someone quotes you, especially if you plan to take it personally.

I'm not sure if you know this, but writing code doesn't make you super cool. Or even a hacker. This label of "script kiddie" is really depressing, because generally what someone offers as the alternative to that is really not that amazing.

As this is not covered in Rocket's only two reasons you should ever ban someone, I'm fairly confident that this is a reportable offense that can have the server blacklisted. This is incorrect. A smart company caters to the majority, end of story. The minority group of players (in this case people who just want PvE) is insignificant, and only ever becomes significant if they somehow become the majority. Which in this case, is not even remotely close to happening.

This is incorrect and should not be taken as fact. Your definition of working is not the actual definition of working. The fact of the matter is it is a game that has PvP elements. You do not have some sort of meter that measures your humanity/morality in most other common games with a PvP feature. It's meant to simulate real life. It is the end of the world, and in most end of the world scenarios, there are very few rules. If there were ever to be some sort of zombie apocolypse in the real world, I can tell you I wouldn't have any issues shooting someone I deemed a threat to my or my friends/families survival. And that's the point in DayZ, it puts you in a state of mind where you have to make those kinds of decisions.

It's in Alpha. It is not a released game. I'm not sure why you don't understand this.

Otherwise, people or going to be upset that they have to pay money for an inferior game when they already paid for Arma 2. No offense taken. I actually didn't realize the article I posted was that old, until I went back for a second read. It was the first article I personally read that seemed to have actual official statements from Rocket, though. Namely the part about hoping to have something out by september, and the application of a "Minecraft" model.

What server was this, out of curiosity? I was skirting the outskirts of Stary alone for several hours today and witnessed 3 firefights, all of which had DCers. Was pretty crazy, makes me consider changing servers, but I suppose there are DCers everywhere.
