Sorry mods for the bad thread! I forgot to add the requirements. Date/Time: First event 7/24/2012 at aprox 3:00 AM PT. Second event 7/25/2012 at aprox 1:30 AM PT. What Happened: Was able to use a crowbar with a primary out, crowbar disappears when dropped. Where you were: First and Second event was in Elektro, both in different military houses. What you were doing: Searching military houses and hunting bandits. *Current installed version: 1.7.2.3 *Server(s) you were on: First: Probably Seattle 45 (I cannot confirm, sorry.) Second: US338. *Your system specs: Windows 7 64 bit, 3.4Ghz, 8GB ram, 6770 ATI, 1GB. *Timeline of events before/after error: First: Had Ak47, used the scroll wheel to pick up the crowbar. Could melee with the crowbar by switching fire modes with F and use the butt end of the rifle to attack. Dropped crowbar, crowbar disappears from inventory and from the world. Second: Had Dual-Barreled shotgun, found another crowbar, repeated First event and came with the same results. Dropped crowbar, crowbar disappears from the inventory and the world. Original Text: Recently, I was searching military bases until I found a crowbar. I thought I could equip it as a utility so I used the scroll wheel to pick it up from the ground. Then, the crowbar overlapped my current weapon, the AK47, in my inventory. When I pressed F I could switch to "Hack". When I fire "Hack", I literally attack by butting my rifle. I could also see the "bullet impact" on the wall, like a normal melee weapon. If I drop the crowbar, it disappears into thin air. It does not appear on the ground or in my inventory. I thought this was a one-time glitch, though I didn't know for sure. Now, I found another crowbar in a different server, and was able to recreate the glitch, this time with a dual-barreled shotgun. I do not know if it hurts zombies or not, as I never tried.

I'm getting the same problems! I think it might be there to stop people from exploiting since this happened when my internet started dying (No idea why.) Kinda like a counter-disconnect....

What is your timeline? Like what time do you get on?

When I see an unarmed player I come up to them and ask if they need anything. If they don't, I follow them around in a hidden area, dealing with players who wish to do harm to them. When I see an armed player I get more cautious. I make sure that I am close and that I say "Friendly!" If they don't answer I warn I will shoot if they continue with the silence. Any harmful action will cause bullets to fly obviously... but people tend to get around that by backstabbing me as I give help. When I see an armed player SHOOTING an unarmed player, of course I would shoot the armed player. If two armed people are fighting eachother, I'd shoot the guy with the better gear since they have a tendency of being bandits. Though in some situations, I leave no survivors.

On my last post, I talked about a guy who backstabbed me when he betrayed me. I recorded the event with Bandicam (similar to Fraps). I reviewed the tape and I was able to understand what happened. I saw him in the building behind me. He was approaching me, though it appears he was looking behind him. Instead of pointing my gun at him, I salute at him. He starts begging to me, saying "Please don't shoot me!" I said "I wont." but he still sounded uneasy, constantly saying "Don't shoot me!" I assured him that I was friendly, that I was a part of TAB (The Anti-Bandits). I told him that I was hunting a man who was killing people in Elektro. I said "Do you need food or water?" He said "Yes". As I dropped food and water he shoots me, saying "Fuck you! Fuck you!" Its really something I wont forget. I lost an AKM with 6 mags, 5 canned food, 6 water bottles, and military equipment like binoculars and maps. However, Karma did reward me for my kindness. I respawned in Cherno! I found a new player, lost and looking for directions. His name was Pryde, he traveled a long way to get to the coast of Cherno. I helped him out, giving tips and directions. Including the rule, "Do not trust anyone." Later on, we got split up after a zombie horde attacked. We found each other again in the Airfield, as I axed the zombies chasing him. He was scared that I was a player trying to kill him, but then he was relieved when he figured out it was me. Then suddenly, a HACKER! Artillery striked the airfield, and it strucked the new guy unconscious instantly! I dragged him to safety away from the explosions, then M19 shots were heard behind me. I turned around and someone was being murdered on the other side of the wall. I hid inside a container box, thinking I could counter-attack anyone who comes inside. After awhile, I got out of the box, but then a man with a Barret 50 cal and a M19 came into the station. I feared that he would kill me and the new guy. But instead, he came up to the new guy and looked at him. I said he was unconscious, and the guy said "Oh, I don't have an epi-pen but I did patch him up. Since you guys are unarmed, have this gun." He gave me a revolver with ammo, but then I said to give it to the new guy: I thought he needed it most. He then said "Okay", later "Oh, I do have an epi-pen!". He revives the new guy and says "I also gave him a blood bag so his HP should be back to 12000". Me and the new guy thanks him a lot, and he goes off saying "I need to log off now and go to bed, I don't wanna log back in here. Cya!" Me and Pryde then talked to eachother about the events. He said "Man that was crazy! Was put unconcious and had broken bones and shit." I gave as many tips as I could, like to prone around zombies, zombies walk indoors, etc. We then had to go, and I tell him my forum name. He says he would PM me in the forums and that he owes me a lot. I throw a flare outside to distract the zombies. Pryde, the new guy, stayed in the airfield while I enter the heart of Cherno, with a friendly mind. I wanted to help more people, so I basically approached gunfire. I had all the tools to survive, I had a gun, a hunting knife, a hatchet, and a box of matches. (The box of matches saddened me a bit, as I was looking pretty hard for them in my previous life.) I was shot up by two guys in the hospital, though I guess my entry was a surprise one. Once they went out the front door they see me looking at them. I don't blame them. They weren't like that guy saying "Fuck you! Fuck you!", who knew I was trying to help him. Meeting a new player and the friendly sniper, inspires me on to keep helping people. Its basically my "will to live" in DayZ. Maybe you could find me around the coast helping people... but even if you shoot me I will keep on going, helping perfect strangers. I do not know the name of the man who betrayed me, though I do know the new guy was Pryde, and the friendly sniper was [G]. tl:dr: I was betrayed, then karma respawned me in Cherno. I helped a new guy from certain death and a friendly sniper saves both of our lives from a hacker. The end.

People are afraid to die because they don't want to lose the stuff they worked on getting. You can say only new people does such things. But everyone will die eventually... for me, I got tired of running away from death. I ultimately dumped myself into helping all the strangers I see. It was better than hiding and killing to spare your own life IMO, even if you do get killed and betrayed.

If you ever want a rebuilt society and need people to be a part of it, I am in. I am a "carebear" and I try to help people, though obviously I get backstabbed and killed way too often because of that. Though it doesn't stop me at all.

Aye, I guess you did what people usually would had done. Everyone is either a bandit because they want to kill, or are nervous themselves. Or they are cruel and "evil", though this community has a very small amount of the kind. I used to be a nervous survivor. (*cough* then I took an arrow to the knee *cough*)

Right now, I was able to save at LEAST one life. That is basically my goal. He had aggro zombies, so I shot em off. I died when of course, I was backstabbed by a guy asking for food. He laughed as he killed me. But stuff like that happens. I still wont shoot anyone on sight if they don't want to die and need help.

I am a friendly and I kill bandits... if I was there I would assume you were all bandits honestly xD Though I do love the idea of making DayZ a safer place :D

If you are a bandit, basically pretend you are playing COD and kill EVERYTHING. Or if you are a survivor like me, perhaps you can be one who helps the poor and kills the bandits in major cities. I lost my will to live when I forgot to pick up a box of matches.

Okay, when I came I didn't see the players you were talking about. I did start recording just in case, but got nothing. I did save a life though, he was being chased by zombies :D

Hurrow, I am etmer. Bought the game just to play DayZ. I heard about DayZ for quite some time, but Seananners inspired me to buy the game. He always tends to inspire me to buy games (He made me buy Minecraft on it's alpha stage, to be ironic to DayZ.) I always want to be on the good side, the one who helps people, though it is hard to maintain at times. I am very anti-bandit, also very cowardly. Fear can kill an innocent man, and the thought of losing all my stuff because of another player does bring fear. Pretty much, I am a wuss, being nervous all the time. If you see me on the field, remember that I am friendly. If you are unarmed feel free to ask for help from me, but sneaking up on me triggers instinct. See you in ze field.

There's many people like you out there. You can decide to repel the plague, or become it. Its a losing battle for our side but that does not mean we should give up. Edit: Sadly I have joined the plague. Its just too hard to survive these days. I decided not to shoot unarmed people and be a robin hood bandit, but they usually end up shooting me...

I swear one of these days a well-planned bandit attack will screw up a trade, lol.
