Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
gangrenetvp replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
I hope they fix that "separation" between the avatar and the player location before this gets anywhere near the stable release. -
I was actually thinking in the context of two high school aged sons.

I think there is a place for a new game here. There could really be a blend of Fallout 3 and DayZ into a new game. I know I'd get it. Take Fallout 3's system of experience and such.... critically wounded limbs, gun condition, encumbrance, aiming skill, repairing, etc. Bring in Zombies, remove the NPC's and make it multiplayer online. Make the eating and drinking system more like Stand Alone. Add in handcuffing, etc... make it modern day, You've got one hell of a game.

This is in regards to this post: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/175621-open-lettersuggestionrequest-to-the-devs-do-not-implement-nudityscatpiss/ "IF YOU DISAGREE, AND WANT TO HAVE THESE FEATURES, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM COMMENTING ON IT HERE. YOU CAN DO SO ELSEWHERE." Yeah, We'll have that conversation here... FYI, I'm commenting mostly about the poo mechanic that is in the works. " we must at some point draw the line that borders between fun gameplay, and needles tedium." No, WE don't draw any lines. Rocket draws the lines and we either support it or not. "WE" didn't come up with the idea. "WE" don't have the right to tell someone else how to build their own thing. If you want to build something different, build it yourself... If Rocket puts in the effort in making the game, he should be able to do what he wants with it. Bottom line. I think he should be free to do as he pleases and have total creative control of the game. "disgusting and offensive" So, there is a perfect level of what is and is not offensive and YOU know what it is, exactly... and feel that your knowledge of that level should be what the developers should do? Stop mandating how others should do based on your feelings and acknowledge that there is a broad range of “offensive” to different people and that this game might not line up with your levels. Secondly, it hasn't even been introduced yet and you're already complaining about it. See how it works, then give your opinion. "While it can be said that such acts would be no more or less offensive than murder, which is also part of the current system" EXACTLY "It is sick and offers no real gameplay value." Your morals, your problem. Wait to see what they create, then complain about it if you have to. I think it can add a lot to gameplay value. "Please explain to me what nudity and the ability to take a piss/shit offers to the game." I'm talking about the poo mechanic specifically. It offers the opportunity to use the VC tactics in Vietnam. They often coated objects in human excrement in order to cause infection. That infection takes soldiers off the battle field for what otherwise could be a minor cut. Also excrement is supposed to be a disease factor in the game and if an area is overrun with waste, it becomes a danger area... It can also be used to transmit disease... biological warfare. These could all bring interesting factors to the game. We should see how they are implemented before saying they have to be taken off the table entirely. "I am not trying to "kill" anything. What I want is to PRESERVE what I see as being the spirit of this game." It's not YOUR game. It's not your spirit we're concerned with. It's the ability of an artist to create their vision without having to conform to some other person's moral objections... It's spirit is what Rocket wants and makes, not what you want. "But I personally see ZERO benefit in the addition" Once again, what you see or more importantly DON'T SEE... isn't Rocket's problem. It's yours. "I DO NOT WANT TO ENDURE BEING FORCED TO WATCH MY OWN CHARACTER RELIEVE HIMSELF IN A BUSH, CENSORED OR NOT." Stop dictating to others. This isn't your dictatorship where we have to worry about what you think is offensive. The solution is simple. If you don't like what the game becomes, don't play it. Nobody is FORCING you. "i agree with this statement. this is a survival game not a torture game." It's neither. It's not what you want. It's Rocket's game... What Rocket makes it into… that is what it is... "there needs to be a point where that is over the line." No, there isn't a NEED for a line that cannot be crossed. That's what you NEED, not everyone else.

Rocket: "why do we need slow vault?" [Suggestion]
gangrenetvp replied to Kushko's topic in Suggestions
I think it works fine now... crawling, crouch walking, and walking use the slow vault... Jogging, running, and SPRINTING SHOULD use the jump. Rocket is changing crouch walking to make less sound than walking, so this will be a stealth thing. -
I drink soda all the time and I never belch.

I think there are merits to this. Let's say you have a brother, and you both use one computer... You don't want your brother getting your character killed and you don't want all of the "stupid stuff" he puts on your character. You like the M4, he likes the mosin. He playes with his friends and they are on the coast... You like to hang out at Northwest with your friends... After he's done you have to run back? You can't really use this as a loot hoarding mechanic unless you can get both characters to the same spot and people are always migrating around. Same thing for the pack mule idea... 1. You'd have to run to the city with your first character. 2. Logout and in with your second character(time penalty). 3. After the penalty, run in your second character. 4. Log back to your first character(Larger Penalty) and drop the loot for the mule. Log again (a bigger time penalty)... if the stuff is still there... pick it up and repeat. Nobody is going to do that... and if they do they are going to be sitting through a lot of penalty time from relogging. I think you should be able to have different characters, if a friend comes over... you can use your other character to mess around and show him stuff without killing your main guy. Thoughts?

Those who support Poo and other ideas Rocket has sign here.
gangrenetvp posted a topic in Suggestions
So there is a No poo, no pee, no nudity thread... Well, poo is already on the agenda and I fully support it and support Rocket's vision... I'm not sure who these people are, but just because you bought the game doesn't mean you get control of the creative license of the game. I think Rocket should be able to do as he see's fit as it is his concept. I like what Rocket has done so far and I'm looking forward to the poo and sickness mechanics being implemented. Everyone poos in real life and if you poo in game, deal with it. They said only comment if you support their idea on their thread... So, only comment below if you think Rocket should be able to do what he wants with his game... and if someone feels morally compromised because of a game feature, simple, don't play said game. "I support Rocket and his vision". -
I'm liking this idea... However, I could care less if the backpacks are in the hands. This has a major advantage of not having to wait for 2 minutes for something to spawn on the ground. Players should be able to elect to show their inventory... between friends this could make transactions quicker and simpler.

30 seconds is a joke, make it 5 MINUTES!
gangrenetvp replied to atmaca (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I'm in cherno, in a random building... gathering loot... people are around, but not right in my location. I'm upstairs in a pub when all of a sudden... I lost my connection! If my character is stuck there sitting for 30 seconds or a minute... yeah, I'm not too worried. He'll probably be fine before he disappears... Wait, NOW IT'S 30 MINUTES!?!?! Someone will come across my character and he will be dead when my connection comes back. I think this is not a good idea for that reason. Okay, so you are in two rooms looking down the hall from one another... in a fire fight. The other player logs... you're not probably not going to charge in, in 30 seconds, because you don't want to be caught out in the open in the hall, if he were to pop his head out. He'll be gone before you figure out he logged. How do we deal with that? Simple, when a player logs have their character give an on screen message... player disconnecting within 100 meters of your location. -

What does this mean? "PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME" That means purchase if you want to test the game("Actively Support") and offer money to further development and show support. So, yes, you are paying early so you can test the game. -

1. Yes, patches do often bring in new bugs. 2. He recruited more than 1,000 players... he's recruited about 1.3 million to help develop the game and you're one of them. 3. Make the game playable? There IS NO GAME. This is a testing environment for doing testing. There is no game environment. 4. You didn't pay $30 for a game... you payed for the privilege of having your character screw up and then report it in order to help with the development. If you don't feel like working any more stay away till the testing is finished and come back when there is a "game" to play. -

Just to add in my 2 cents... I could care less about vehicles. If the development team said... "We've made a big decision and have decided to not add any vehicles in DayZ SA now or in the future", I'd be perfectly fine with that. Maybe even a little happy. With the speed of running what it is... I feel I get around quite quickly. I can easily get down to the coast to meet a friend even when I'm up at NW. I'm not frustrated by running around in the slightest. -
I'd like 3 more levels of survival. 30, 60, and 90 days. I've never made it to 90.
-
I think this should be added soon. Agreed, please escalate this on the development.

I haven't played the experimental, but I was seeing players talking about bodies disappearing. Is it possible that they weren't dead, but unconscious?... then they logged off once unconscious... since they weren't dead they might have been on the 30 second logout timer... and they "logout" unconscious? If you logout unconscious, you'll respawn on the coast so they wouldn't know they were still alive when they disconnected. I wonder if you put a few more shots into them to make sure they are dead, maybe they wouldn't disappear? Just a thought. -
Raw Mouse Input Is Crucial To Immersion
gangrenetvp replied to sidwulf's topic in General Discussion
I've played the mod for a year and a half before SA came out... I've played SA for 55 hours... I'm not having any issues with mouse control. I have a Logitech G9 gaming mouse. I don't understand what the issue is. I move my mouse, shoot a zombie no problem... I've never noticed the mouse or had it ruin the immersion for me. -
55 Hours, Like you... no kills! I have met many friendly players though. I stay off the coast.

Rocket, could you please read my reply on page 6 of this post? It got 17 cans of beans. ;-) I'm sure you missed it, but it'd make my year if you would comment on that idea. -
Pen and Paper fixed, THANKS ROCKET! Please read below. Rocket, what do you think? Pens being able to write on ALL objects(they could be markers)... bags(put my name on it), canteens(mark them so I can tell which one is poisoned <-- THIS! ;-) ), write a note on a map, Axe(Name it: Bandit Smasher!), add a story to an item (This 45 was owned by Steve Jackson. it served him well... until it didn't), leave a note (I left this can of beans for whoever wants it, Gangrene) There are so many exciting and inventive ways in which this can and will enrich the game. Hell, you could make a scavenger hunt... Leave a rare item somewhere with clues... Leave encrypted notes to friends... (Jimmy, if you found this orange... a group came while I was waiting for you... had to make a break for it... meet me in backup meeting location)... Someone picks up a bag or rice... it says(Look out the window, Surprise! Drop any weapons and come out with your hands up). There is a lot of fun there... any item with a note on it could have a way of telling on the inventory screen... a background color, a red dot in the corner of the item, etc... they inspect the item and can see the messages written on it. This should be easy to accomplish I would think. Since the mechanic to write on an inventory item(paper) already exists, that functionality could be added to the other items.
-
Also, if they are with a group... they will never have to start fresh because their friends, regardless of their own body, can give them a pistol or a second rifle they are carrying and help them out... Having friends has advantages that cannot be countered.
-
Kill them in the Northwest, properly... ;-) They aren't running back there in 10 minutes... and if they do manage to run all the way back to the Northwest to get their stuff more power to them... It will be better if you can drag and bury the body. If they are in a group and you can't kill the whole group and that group guards the stuff let that be the advantage of teaming up vs being a KOS lone bandit. Regardless... everyone is going to experience losing all of their stuff. You're also ignoring that shooting them up damages their loot... so even if they get it back quite a bit of it could be useless or damaged.

??? If you have full Energy, not stomach..., you can go 22 hours of game time constantly running without getting hungry, over 80 hours of game time without getting hungry if you are sitting still! That is a LONG time not to get hungry. -
