Why does hardly anyone go north??

Through rigorous research and observation over the years it is well known that when walking without a compass a human will always veer to the left due to the left leg being statistically shorter most of the time. When the size of the map is taken into consideration most humans will venture inland and gently circle around to the left which puts most people in the southern region.
