How to say this nicely... I've done a couple hundred combat patrols in the Marines, and I've never seen a night as dark as in Arma 2. With full HDR and Gamma, thats pretty close to real life

"I expect a bunch of comments about gamma hacking and it "not being realistic" And here they come! Like I said, I'm not a fan of it, but how else can I enjoy a game that is linked to the server time when I can only play at night

I think a flashlight w/ AA batteries should be in the starting kit, I have a ton of flashlights around the house, I don't have 10 road flares... just saying.

Ya I had this problem too, took me forever to find a post that just said "Run combined operations, not OA" and it fixed everything

I was trying to make a little tutorial / video to get my friend interested in the game. I think I was in Pusta, but I was drinking heavily so who knows. The first 3 mins are pretty good, then the real fighting starts at minute 14, and shit sort of hits the fan at 16:00, and the last 6 minutes are me just trying to stay alive. I have never made it out of this "small" town alive. I should stop going there. this was also my first attempt to record in high quality, so make sure to set it on 720p and full screen so my efforts weren't in vane!

Considering nighttime is basically the only chance I get to play without work / wife bothering me, I believe darkness should be an impairment not a down-right reason to not play the game. After all, if this was a real apocalypse I sure as hell wouldn't be wandering around at night nullifying the only real advantage over the zombies I have [sight]. Sure the moon helps, but when it's say, 9pm and the moons not due to be full for another few hours, well... I guess you could change servers. I for one don't like my gaming dependent on which season it is and whether the moon is waxing or waning. I would love it if it could be forced to make it playable and everyone equal, I don't like boosting my gamma, I feel dirty doing it, but I also get no joy in not being able to see 2 feet in front of me.

ya someone finally said it, I only can play at night since I work all day and I used to hate it, but if you put HDR to Very High and put the gamma / brightness up, you get basically a ghetto version of NVGs that makes the game very playable, I haven't used flares or chemlights in a long time
