Closed alpha/beta testing is a thing of the past in the industry, have you not noticed that? It's because it doesn't work as well as they thought. The smaller a testing group is (or lack thereof), the less feedback you're going to get. Aside from being able to develop a community prior to actual game release, open alpha/beta testing delivers more feedback and faster results on the detection and correction of bugs. I'd like to say, 1) www.dayzmod.com/forum is a great example of how a community is developed through holding an open alpha phase and 2) look at how far we've come? It was rough playing like 2 months back, and now the main thing we deal with is hackers and a lot of common recurring problems (which will lead to the eventual remedy of said problem) -

One of those Jason trolls on US 352. Spotted the hockey mask on a guy running through the firestation in Cherno, shot at him from the top of the one really tall buildings and missed, which gave him time to run behind the wall out front. Figured he was gonna teleport behind me and just kill me that way, but he teleported to the floor below me and started throwing grenades through the ladder hole. When he couldn't kill me like that he just teleported up top and shot me. It's pretty pathetic when it's predictable as that was. -Sorry, didn't mean to duplicate threads. Meant to throw the server name in the title.

Stuck unconscious, hourglass is 100% not moving and I have to ctrl+alt+dlt to get out. I sat with my character like that for almost 30 mins hoping a stray survivor would come and kill me, but no luck. Could use a reset. Now when I enter a server, the hourglass does not move and I can't exit the game through normal means. Edit: This was taking care of the simple way: Dying. Thanks, anyways. -

Hey, thanks for coming out! It's people like you that let the community know that the same assholes ruining the game are here on the forums as well! I'm curious though, doesn't it make you feel bad that you can't play the game by the rules? Like, idk, inadequate? I don't get that feeling, but that's probably because I don't suck so much at DayZ that I have to dupe. -

I wonder what magical anti-hacking force field you think they're concocting right now? You guys are chumps to think that the hacking will drop significantly. No, the legitimate player population will drop after 2 weeks of first day sales because it's going to be the exact same thing. You have 12 year olds making private bypasses for their scripts, ffs, and to be honest, I've been playing steadily (every day, 6-8+ hours a day for...well, quite some time now), and it's getting worse and worse as the days go on (both in-game and in the forums). It's all thanks to "Survival Jesus" and the like, streaming their good will or careless destruction, and then linking to a website that offers "100%workingarma2scriptinjector". Don't get me wrong, it's not the game itself; The game is amazing and continues to strive toward a better game, but slapping a "standalone" label on it doesn't automatically mean that it's not going to have the f*cking shit hacked out of it. -

Naw, it was a Jason hacker. The hockey mask is iconic of Jason, and now the whole camo suit/Jason mask is "the Jason hacker". I put him in a mood where he didn't want to play harasser and just wanted to off the person shooting at him with whatever hacks he had available. And he was teleporting, did I mention the whole "at the firestation one second, the next a floor under me on the smaller of the 2 large buildings in cherno" thing? The guy was a legit hacker

While we're on the topic of removing the unnecessary obstacles, I have arrived with my 2 cents: Cherno needs to go. That and trees, I'm really tired of having them in my way as I try to fire back at snipers -
Why would you alt-f4 on him? lol, I'm pissed I missed the shot and that I couldn't think of anything better to do then lie there and hope he pokes his head out from behind the wall. I KNEW he was gonna teleport up to me, I just wasn't thinking fast enough; I should've informed him of the great time I had with his mother the night prior as he skulked around on the floor below. For trying to run around as one of those Jason fellas, he was really sloppy too.

I love Marvel's response. lol, just had that whole, "HEY! I'M NOT A HACKER, YOU'RE THE HACKER!" thing thrown at me not even 20 minutes ago too. Do you think it's like with serial killers, how you can pinpoint something from within their childhood that messed them up to be so pathetic? -
The fact that you need a bandit skin to give you the answer to whether or not someone is friendly makes you a moron, boss. You learn how to tell if a person is a bandit or not within the first couple of seconds. Whatever, just gotta nurse the noobs for a bit, we had a huge increase, let the community get on the same playing field.

Yeah, just updated, got in 1 server for a bit with the new build and now I'm hitting a wall at loading just before the "Set Up Complete" screen I pressed verify on SIX after I had updated everything manually, that was causing the problem. Thanks, Wuggie.

Oh, I guess if Rocket said that, it must mean character morphing isn't completely stupid. The game shoots for a level of realism, and you can bring up all the things in the game that counter the level of realism to begin with, but REALISTICALLY, I doubt a man's compulsion to wear a turban goes up with his murder count. Listen, I'm ONE-HUNDRED% behind trying new features, and the humanity feature is something that has huge potential and they ARE in the right direction. But something a little more subtle would be perfect, imho (something that you may not notice at first but say, the bandit decides to let you tag along before they kill you and--Oh, no! There you see it, the tell-tale sign! At which point you either lay into the guy with your axe or run).
