Either you're bullshitting or just a noob. The bodies were either "hidden" via the "hide body" option or they disappeared automatically in the amount of time it would've taken you to run from the shore back the NW airfield (minimum 2 hours). As for your "loot", it was either taken by other players in the meantime, or just like the corpses, they decayed automatically.

If you use shift + tab to access the Steam chat in-game overlay, ArmA 2 can act funny and cause a few problems. A good way to tell this is when you press the escape button, if the menu options are rapidly scrolling for no reason, then you must press shift & tab again until the problem is corrected. Few questions: 1) Are these "vehicle crash sites" random or is there any known areas with a higher probability of stumbling across one? 2) When you find, and repair a vehicle, can you save it like tents? If so: 3) When a server restarts, does your vehicle remain where you last saved it? If so: 4) Do less vehicles spawn across the server if several players already have them? Thanks!

Actually, I'm a bit of a Flight Sim "junkie" myself and I have a Saitek yolk, throttle levers, and rudder pedals. And I use my joystick for flying helicopters and driving vehicles in ArmA/DayZ. I really don't see what the problem is. I find it to be an advantage. Either way, it's personal preference. And no, I'm not a "console gamer" and I wouldn't go as far as using an Xbox controller. :p

I know a couple threads already exist for the 1.5.7. spawning-on-the-shore issue, but here's what happened to me (in order of occurrence): -Installed 1.5.7 -Logged onto same server as before (same spawn point as when I left). -Setup tent. -Put Winchester and ammo inside tent. -Saved tent. -Ran for 3 hours to NE airstrip. -Found M4 and picked it up. -Logged out of server. -Logged onto a different server to find: I randomly spawned on the shore again with all my items INCLUDING my tent and Winchester?!? However, the M4 disappeared because I guess it was replaced by the Winchester....Perhaps this wouldn't have happened if I logged back into the same server? Any advise would be greatly appreciated :) Bump for justice

Switching servers for loot wasn't the intent here. I was trying to see if helicopters spawn in the hangers, but even if I was server hopping for loot, I hardly see the argument in calling it an 'exploit' since DayZ saves your character and inventory across the servers... So deal with it. In any event, the purpose for saying that I found an M4 was to help explain this (glitch?) as to why the recently-acquired weapon was swapped for the Winchester and tent that was saved in a different server prior to switching.

Ah you got lucky then. Asides from spawning back on the coast, when I went back on the server where my tent was setup, it magically appeared back in my inventory even though I manually saved it before changing servers. I'm thinking that if I would've logged back onto my 'home' server, my tent would've remained and I wouldn't have spawned on the coast.

LOL that made me laugh. :p And, Spirit, to answer your question, I'd say no unless the developers of ArmA 2 grant the developers of DayZ legal permission to make a profit from what's rightfully their game without infringing on copyright territory. And, frankly, the fact that DayZ is free is why it's becoming so rapidly popular. At the present time, DayZ isn't even accepting donations so that would lead me to assume they do not wish to make a profit from it. But I could be wrong.

OMGOMGOMG I was on a server the other day that forced 1st person and disabled the green cross-hairs (forcing you to aim with the sights on the gun). I really loved it. Does anyone know the name of this server or ones that have these features disabled? It really adds to the realism and teaches you do use the sights.

I'm not entirely sure what the 2nd server was that I went to. But I was originally on "Italia - Hosted by: UnitedClanitalia" prior to switching. Then once I logged onto the 2nd server, I re-spawned along the coast.

I use a joystick for flying helicopters and driving vehicles. It's 100% easier and gives you much more accurate control (especially using analog throttle to give you variable levels of thrust). All of the buttons are bind-able via the controls menu and it takes very little effort to calibrate. Just install the drivers from the included CD, launch the game, and away you go. You can even adjust the X, Y, and Z axis sensitivity on the joystick through the controls menu in-game.

I've looked all over the forums and couldn't find anything answering these questions: 1) Are tents suppose to transfer with your character when you log-in to a different server? If so, do they disappear from the original server where they were setup? 2) Do tents disappear when you log-out (preventing other players from looting while you're offline)? 3) Do vehicles transfer with your character when you log-in to a different server? If so, do they disappear from the original server where they were built/fixed? 4) Do vehicles disappear when you log-out (preventing other players from stealing them while you're offline)? Thanks!

Back when I use to play RuneScape' date=' players use to do this very frequently when their HP was low and were afraid of losing their items. BUT, even if they closed their internet browser, the game sensed that they were still in a battle and didn't logout their account. Instead, the account went into idol mode and let the other player finish attacking. Only after 15 seconds of not engaging in battle would their account automatically logout successfully (and by that point, they would've been dead already). DayZ should adapt a similar system. [hr'] Also..... If this is against the rules, then is it also against the rules to log-out and avoid death when a herd of zombies are chasing you down and you have literally no possible way of defending yourself?
