lentWolf posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Welcome to 1939 Dallas The Official DayZ Home of [For the War]! This topic will be used to provide updates and ongoing server status to visitors. In addition, users may reply with any comments or concerns they wish addressed. Twitter Updates: @FortheWar1 Server Status: ONLINE Version(s): 1.7.2.5 / BETA 96015 Daily Restarts at 6:00A/6:00P (CST/GMT-6) Public Mumble: 69.65.40.33:6087 Website/Forums: www.forthewarclan.com Admins: 1939 Dallas is admininstrated solely by [FTW]'s Officers. We do our best to have atleast two online at all times, either ingame or via RCON. Many of our Officers have decades+ experience in both casual and competitive video gaming, testing, programming, and more. While we run entirely off of donations from members, Officers are elected based on merit and time invested in our clan; this position cannot be bought, so you don't have to worry about 10-year-old-admin temper tantrums. About [For the War]: We are a multi-gaming organization with a focus on providing a relaxed, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for gamers of all playstyles and origin. Now approaching 3 years old, we support both casual and competitive play in a variety of titles including Battlefield 3, Guild Wars 2 (upcoming), League of Legends, Minecraft, and more! We are always recruiting, and seek mature players that are willing to help others and make a positive impact on both the clan and the gaming community as a whole. We have a zero-tolerance policy on hacking, and we don't like drama. Our Policy on Hacking: We have a zero-tolerance policy on hacking. This applies to our members, and anyone playing on our server. We don't kick or ban without cause, but we don't hesitate to take necessary action when your behavior is adversely affecting other players' experience. Our definition of hacking: Any use of scripts, bugs, or other known exploits to gain an unfair advantage over another player. In DayZ, this includes the use of Arma2 weapons that have been disallowed in DayZ. We don't care if you weren't the jerk spawning them in - it's unfair, and we don't want to see those items in our server. Sure, we can't ban you because Rocket said it's legal. But we view it as disruptive behavior, and we can kick you over and over again for it. TLDR: We play fairly, we expect you to do the same whilst on our server. We will do our absolute best to resolve any issues you encounter while playing with us! -

Hey, thanks for the support, and welcome to the DayZ forums! We run our DayZ server (and all of our servers for multiple titles) entirely off of donations, and in the past few months we've received fewer and fewer funds for DayZ. We will definitely bring the server back online if we get enough support/funds to do so :) Further info and instructions on donating can be found via our website: www.forthewarclan.com! In the meantime, feel free to hop in our Mumble server and chat with us - we play more than just DayZ, and are always happy to meet new people :) -
Player 'Riley' was teleporting himself and players around on US231. Myself and 3 clanmates were playing together for most of the afternoon - this guys hops in for about 5 minutes and starts killing people. We have a video, see below. Clanmate, Static Proof, started recording when he spawned - but was instantly tp'ed to the NW'stern airfield and shot by a silenced weapon. You can see the other dead bodies around him a moment before he dies. You don't see the player's name in the video - we know his name because he teleported to us a minute earlier and killed us all (where we saw his name). It was right after he killed us that he begin teleporting us at spawn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGtAFa1lzR4&feature=youtu.be Working on talking with the server admins now, but wanted to post on here, as well. EDIT: Talked with VA on their TS3 server, posted a link to this topic on their forums.

Elpis Host - $30/month for 40 slots - BEC/Anti-Hax - Unrivaled Quality
lentWolf replied to Tyler Salwierz's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Wanted to build off of Tyler's last post - we have hosted from Dallas with them for a few weeks now. ~10 of our members are from NE'stern Canada, and we also have a couple EU members (Ger/UK area). Our Canadian members consistently get ~90-110 latency, and our EU members get 120-140. Anything inside the US tends to be under 60 ping (on the East coast I get 35 or so). Considering the distance, the pings are pretty phenomenal - we've been impressed since day 1. -

SIX Launcher now supports 1.7.2.5, so we have updated (again) to 2.5. -

We updated to 1.7.2.5, but after reviewing the problems with tents, vehicles, etc we have decided to revert back to 2.4 for the time being. We are still updated to the latest Arma2 OA patch (95948). We look forward to seeing everyone on! -
Admin abuse US 137 Tacticalgamer.com clan server
lentWolf replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Funny how much this topic has deviated from its original purpose ... Just thought I'd pipe in and add a few words of my own: I'm in no way affiliated with TacticalGamer, and am one of several joint leaders of [For the War], a seperate organization. Before we brought our DayZ server up, our members had played on TG server(s?) a few times and always had a positive experience. From a personal standpoint as an avid gamer/tester, I've seen TG present in a variety of other titles over the years, and I've never found reason to complain with their servers or policies. Obviously, I wasn't present during the time the OP says all these events took place - but saw this thread, and wanted to vouch for TG. Atleast in the games I've played, TG has always had a solid, respectable reputation. If I wasn't a leader of my own organization, they'd be near the top of my list of clans to apply to. P.S. We've had |UCC| members on our DayZ server in the past week, as well. Specifically, Fidel, Ferren, & Elliot the Black. Haven't seen them on in a few days, but I never saw any evidence in our logs to hint that any of them were playing illegitimately. I think I might even have a couple of them on my Steam or so ... don't remember. -
Yes, I'm going to respond. It's kinda my 'thing', being a representative of my clan and all ... You posted on another topic about the same thing ... Here's the TLDR version: 1) Caioa and Rikz are not members of [FTW], never have been (and, if they're hacking, obviously never will). If you can get me a date/time, I can look in the logs and ban them if there is enough proof. 2) People can easily change their name to anything in the Profiles section of the main menu - so the fact that they had FTW tags doesn't necessarily mean there are. OR, they could have been a different FTW. We're not the only ones with such a famous acronym. 3) Nothing of what I've said is bogus. This is a public forum; I, my clan, and its members all have respective reputations - and I wouldn't seek to tarnish that by lying to you. 4) Doucher? Read a (not the online urban) dictionary sometime, you might find some more fitting insults. If you reported the GUID's - good. Doesn't bother me in the slightest - I'm glad you're being proactive. Funny enough, none of our members seems to have been banned - so guess your GUID's pointed to someone else. We take these things pretty seriously. And, as BattleEye is finally growing some balls, we're able to more effectively take action. I've been able to catch (and prove) 8 cheaters/hackers just in the past day or two - and we expect even faster removal once more of our members become accustomed to RCON, logs, etc. What? You bought Arma2 for a mod in Alpha-stage testing and expected everything to be perfect? You mentioned crying - I don't think we're the ones with our eyes wet.

Calling you out FTW Static Proof
lentWolf replied to Doc_Wreckshop's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rikz and Caioa might be full of shit, I don't know. Never met them, and they're not (or have ever been) members of [FTW]. I'm not saying there aren't hackers on our server - but they don't stay long. I took 3 days off of work for the sole purpose of setting up custom scripts.txt, remoteexec.txt, and other ways to help BE catch the right people quickly. I've downloaded enough server_console and scripts.log files to fill most people's hard drives. I've invested a huge amount of time doing my best to keep our server as hack-free as possible. And I'm just one of many [FTW] members, all willing to do the same. Yes, hackers get in, and they can do a lot in the brief moment between when they cheat and when we see it in logs. I'm tired of this topic - can't believe it's still alive. Mods, please do your damn job and lock this up (I've reported several times). You think we're hacking? Fine. We're not - but I've wasted too much time in this topic trying to change people's minds. To the Spectators on this topic: We've ruined the playtime of 20+ hackers/cheaters since our server started a week ago. 8 of those we did in the past 1-3 days. It's not a lot - but it's a start, and we're picking up the pace. If you want a server where the admins care just as much as you do about fair play, then please give our server a try. We welcome and encourage other clans/groups, as well! We're recruiting like-minded people, too! Mature, friendly, helpful individuals - all nationalities welcome, though we require a proficiency in English :) Learn more and join us at www.forthewarclan.com! Teleporter to add to your ban lists
lentWolf replied to umandez's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
And even more like you need more than just the IP itself to hack someone... -
A reserved slot might be nice, but is unnecessary for an admin. We can kick/ban/etc via RCON - without having to be ingame at all. Many servers auto-kick for ping (for example, ours is auto kick at anything above 200). Glitchy player movement is bad enough on servers without adding connection issues into the mix.

Server Admins quit bit$hing and turn them off already
lentWolf replied to gwbrewer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
So, let me get this straight: He's bitching and moaning ... about OTHER people bitching and moaning. Pathetic post is pathetic. -
I know this is a couple days late, but .... depending on the hours each day you need the server admin'ed for, I'd be happy to do it for you at an hourly rate. I admin my clan's server presently, and often have some extra time on my hands. PM if you're interested, we can talk rates, resume, etc ... EDIT: Considering offering this to any servers as a service. I know a lot of servers have hack problems, and having a live admin on monitoring things can make a big difference.

Cheat Finder (script parser for admins)
lentWolf replied to disorder's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Two of those are known to be -somewhat- legitimate. BIS_Effects_AirDestruction BIS_Effects_AirDestructionStage2 I remember reading that these are going to be present for every user that walks near a heli crash, etc - so they're legitimate effects, although I suppose a hacker could initialize them. I'll update this post with a link in a min. EDIT: As promised, here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/71904-new-major-battleye-anti-cheat-features/page__view__findpost__p__686256 -
Couple of Hack-Related Questions (Already Searched, Googled, etc)
lentWolf posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
So, as the title so blatantly suggests, I just have a couple of questions. I couldn't find any definitive answers through my searches, so felt this was the best option. First Question: I've *heard* (here's where the 'nothing definitive' part comes in to play) that a hacker can make it look as though someone else in the server is hacking. Does this apply to all malicious scripts, or only to specific scripts? Second Question: This builds off of the first question. I think I already know the answer here, but I don't want to ban the wrong person if they've been 'framed'. Can someone confirm this guy did, in fact, reference external files on his own system (not that someone else made it look like he did) to exploit the game? He is/was a friend, so just wanted to be 100% before I take any action :/ PLAYERNAME (IPremoved) GUID - #0 "[] spawn{player addAction ['Inf Ammo', 'C:\Users\<name>\Desktop\Day Z\aimloader\Scripts\Inf Ammo.sqf']" PLAYERNAME (IPremoved) GUID - #0 "[] spawn{player addAction ['ESP', 'C:\Users\<name>\Desktop\Day Z\aimloader\Scripts\ESP.sqf'];};" PLAYERNAME (IPremoved) GUID - #0 "[] spawn{player addAction ['TP', 'C:\Users\<name>\Desktop\Day Z\aimloader\Scripts\Teleport.sqf'];};" PLAYERNAME (IPremoved) GUID- #188 "C:\Users\<name>\Desktop\Day Z\aimloader\Scripts\Teleport.sqf'];};" PLAYERNAME (IPremoved) GUID - #0 "[] spawn{player addAction ['Superkit', 'C:\Users\<name>\Desktop\Day Z\aimloader\Scripts\Superkit.sqf']" PLAYERNAME (IPremoved) GUID - #0 "[] spawn{player addAction ['God Mode', 'C:\Users\<name>\Desktop\Day Z\aimloader\Scripts\God Mode.sqf']" PLAYERNAME (IPremoved) GUID - #196 "[] spawn{player addAction ['God Mode', 'C:\Users\<name>\Desktop\Day Z\aimloader\Scripts\God Mode.sqf']" Sure, you say 'Oh, that's obvious' - but if it's possible to run these scripts under the guise of a different player (the GUID matches the player in question), perhaps it's not him/her. I tend to think this player is guilty - but, would hate to jump to the wrong conclusions. Hence my first question. Thanks in advance for any advice/answers! -

lentWolf replied to lentWolf's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yeah, he's a brother of one of our members, so was just trying to cover the bases. We have a zero-tolerance policy, so he's definitely about to get wiped - but was hoping someone could prove me wrong :/ -
Snipers, and why we can't "snipe"
lentWolf replied to Digitalzebra's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
While I empathize on some level - you seem to be forgetting one key rule of thumb: Snipers aren't going to post up where they know they'll get ambushed. If you're going to snipe, think about this when finding your hide: 1) If it's a well-traversed or well-known spot, avoid it if possible. Snipers work best when noone knows where they are (or even that they exist up until the shot). 2) If you MUST go to that well-known spot, then make sure you're not visible. Sitting in the middle of the hill, expecting a little bit of grass to shield you from sight, is NOT legit :P Lay down in the grass behind some brush, gather your breathing, pop up to scope out a shot, then pop back down (and preferably move, see number 3). 3) If you're worried about security, and don't have a spotter or teammates to protect your flank(s), then move. The best snipers never die, and are never found. Why? Because said snipers aren't going to sit in a single location for more than one or two kills (granted, sometimes people are running close and you can squeeze off extra kills). The point is to move before anyone can figure out where you are. If you want to live as a sniper - be unpredictable. We're all human - other people can figure out locations and patterns just as good as you. The second you become predictable, you become vulnerable. Patterns are also bad to develop. Maybe it sounds like I'm getting too deep into the psychological aspect of the game - but when you invest the time into your character to get them geared, ready to go, etc - it makes sense to remember that these aren't bots you're fighting against. -
Were you trying to ban them ingame (whilst playing), through the BERCON.exe, or through a third-party RCON tool? I never have an issue with banning people
-
The standalone seems to be a high priority - and it needs to be. But so does adding new content, fixing existing bugs, and stopping exploits/hacks. What I'm wondering is where Rocket's priorities are. As a mod, DayZ won't be at the numbers it's at now in a year. But if he focuses only on the standalone, he won't be adding new content to the mod to keep people engaged. As it is presently, there is literally nothing for players to do once they're fully geared - other than camp coastal cities. Sure, enjoyable for a short time period - but when you have people intentionally dying to zombies just so they die and have to re-gear, for lack of anything else to do, it says something. This mod is amazing thus far - I applaud the work leading up to this point, and I agree DayZ deserves all the attention it's been given. But there needs to be something there to keep that attention, or it's going to fizzle out in 3 months. Yeah, you'll have the die-hards that will stay for years - every game has those - but out of the 'million' players right now, he's going to lose 900k+ if something doesn't get better. Solution: Get a bigger team together, set some solid priorities, and get stuff done. Worry about GamesCom when you have more than just a mod to show off. Just my two cents.

Calling you out FTW Static Proof
lentWolf replied to Doc_Wreckshop's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sigh, didn't think about that. I was hoping not to have to resort to such - perhaps I'm assuming too much. I do appreciate your support - we really want to see this alleged video, too. I don't care if I'm wrong and Static is hacking, I'm happy to ban him. But somehow, I'm unsure if this video even exists. -
Calling you out FTW Static Proof
lentWolf replied to Doc_Wreckshop's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ermmm ... first it was Static, now you're accusing all of us as a whole. Make up your mind - Tek is right, this is becoming nothing more than a soap opera. We don't practice any malicious tactics, or anything intentionally exploiting weaknesses in the game code (such as, in DayZ's case - alt-f4'ing and ghosting, or using weapons not in the mod). We are recruiting actively at all times, and we frequently run with new members in our ranks. They make mistakes. Many of our members are joining a group for the first time - and have become used to dc'ing or ghosting etc, because they were solo (and who can blame them - this game is a mess right now). We in no way encourage such behavior, and when we witness it (such as in the firefight when one member DC'ed), we take action against it. The reprimand depends on the severity of the problem, but if it happens more than a time or two the member is removed w/o hesitation. We never have such a problem, though, because most members are smart enough to learn from their mistakes. Who are you to judge how our organization maintains its members? If you don't like us, don't play with us - but don't accuse us of crap you can't back up. Anyone reading only this last post - sorry, this post may have seemed a bit aggressive, but perhaps if you read the other 3 pages of crap you might understand my frustration. These guys first accused Static Proof of hacking, and after days have still not provided any proof or video (even though they said they had tons of footage). Now they're just throwing blanket accusations left and right - with no proof behind it, either. We don't hack. We've reported hackers, I've personally filmed several throughout multiple titles including DayZ. -

Calling you out FTW Static Proof
lentWolf replied to Doc_Wreckshop's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Right. We understand that - in fact, I would say I'm likely even more frustrated than you are about it. Not only do I have to deal with hackers in general (with my hands tied behind my back - thanks, Rocket), but I have to also deal with topics like these - where people are mindlessly accused of hacking. I can completely empathize with the OP - it kills the game to have hackers so rampant. But I truly believe that Static won't be found under that category. People are jumping to conclusions based off of nothing - and that's even more frustrating to me than hacking in the first place. The Salem witch trials were horrible not because people were actually witches, but because people jumped to conclusions out of anger, fear, and frustration and blamed innocent people for crimes they didn't commit. I see no difference between those witch trials, and these mindless posts. YES - I UNDERSTAND, to a point. But no, I don't understand why this topic even still exists. Static is on Mumble with us right now - if you want the truth, hop on our Mumble and talk with us. We would be ingame, but we're having some issues updating our server to the latest beta, so it's down while I fix it. It would probably already be back up your posts didn't make me feel obligated to reply.
