Light going through walls / ground has always happened in Arma (it's still in Arma 3 even). I don't know the specifics but it's just how the RV engine handles lighting and from what I've heard it would be far too intensive to change due to the sheer size of the world. It's unfortunate, but even if this was possible you'd still easily be seen inside buildings with your flashlight on... It's just an immersion problem really.

Nope, hackers are everywhere. If I die to hackers, I don't count it as a death, so I hop low pop servers for tents to get gear that I earned legitimately before I "died". Hopped on two servers today with three people on, got hacked in both. Three people. God damnit.

Na, you should just be able to update to that one I said. If you buy PMC through Steam it should be updated anyway though, so you probably won't have to bother. I got my PMC from the Bohemia store which is why I had to patch it manually.

Possibly, it was a public server though, and the fact I only saw it spawn at the hospital was... creepy :P

Honestly, they don't make that much difference for DayZ, and considering the standalone should be out by the end of the year, I don't think it's worth bothering. If you play normal Arma it's not bad though. EDIT: Also, if you do get it, you will have to get the latest patch for the BAF and PMC addons, which can be found at http://www.arma2.com...ly/game-updates. You will need to download the update named ARMA 2: Combined Operations / Operation Arrowhead / Reinforcements Patch 1.62 It will find that your Arma version is (probably) already up-to-date, but when it searches for the DLC it will then patch that up to the same version. EDIT: Unless you buy the DLC on Steam, in which case it should update itself :P

Yes, you just have to install PMC. Yes, the textures will be loaded automatically no matter how you launch the game, as long as you have PMC installed. You can't just download the higher res textures because they only come as part of the PMC pack with the missions and everything.

Okay, but it still doesn't make sense. There's no way someone could change the key in your registry while it is in use by the game. It would crash everything.

If people were stealing CD keys while we were playing, how would they get us banned? We'd still be playing so they would just get the 'CD key in use' message when trying to join a server... Even if they managed to get on, they'd have to switch registry keys, boot up the game, get in a server, execute a bannable script, quit game, switch registry keys and repeat for all 25 players, which is unlikely in the time frame you suggested.

There are perfectly legitimate reasons for server hopping. I refuse to believe this is a feature. - Hackers - Night-time (Don't get me wrong, playing at night is awesome, but if you don't have NVG's / themal, you know some fucker is watching you with his TWS and you'd be stupid to stay in that situation.) - Framerate - Hackers - Friends not being able to connect etc.

Link games to Windows key. Dem hackers get what they deserve. On a serious note, I'd love to see a ban across all games for hackers, but it's incredibly idealistic due to false positives.

I usually type 'domi' in game mode filter to find the normal lobbies. Make sure you don't have DayZ active though, else you won't see them.

No, you're just being fussy and wasting your own time in the process. It will LITERALLY take you two minutes to go and download Bittorrent. No hassle, no fuss, and you get everything you need. They clearly made it a torrent to take stress off their servers. It takes a lot of time and effort to keep a download server running under such high demand, and all they ask as a trade-off is that you spend two minutes of your life to download a some torrent software for legitimate purposes. Man up and go get that goddamn patch already.

I agree with your post, apart from this bit. You wrote this part as if you speak for everyone, but most people don't have hacking experiences they can 'laugh off'. Yes, there are hackers out there who like to have a laugh. I think the teleporting & playing scary noises is hilarious. However, everyday now I'm having people teleport to me with god mode and kill me. There's nothing funny about that, It's just pointless griefing. I understand this is a mod, It's in alpha, and I haven't paid anything for it. That doesn't make it any less irritating.

Seriously, a CZ550. AS50's and everything else are so easy to come by now, but I've found a CZ550 only once.
