Officious (DayZ)

This is a sandbox game, the pointless things are what make it the most fun. I'm all for every random thing they can cram in to the game.

That is pretty messed up.

So I haven't played DayZ since last September because I was on course with the military, and I'm very pleased to see how much progress has been made on the mod/game in that time. I started playing DayZ right after it was released as an alpha (more or less) and it was very cool to watch the new iteration be released and subsequently break the game. One thing that at the time infuriated me was that Rocket and crew had complete control over who had a server and what not; in order to maintain the integrity of the game. Now I log on and there are private hives all over which is really cool; it's no longer gritty survival more like a wasteland mode with zombies. Which is cool and I get why that is fun. Anyhow; I tried searching and I can't find my answer (maybe I'm going blind due to too many arty sims going off in front of me at night lol) How can you tell which servers are still attached to the main hive? I found one by blind luck earlier which had my old character (which I killed off to start again yay), but then I got kicked for ping after an hour of play and couldn't find it again. Thank you.

I found a few trying that are vanilla but private. There's no easy way to find the ones attached to the default hive eh? PS: loot is everywhere omg, doesn't feel like I'm scavenging anymore...

I haven't played DayZ in a long time 6+ months because of the course I've been on: but when I did I cranked the gamma and HDR up, no shadows so I could see more easily at night. And I still got shot in the head going OMG WTF where was hell is he! All, the damn, time. It was lots of fun lol.

This has been an issue since DayZ was released. Servers which are not reset frequently enough will lag like crazy.It is a server side/code issue.

If you're using steam you need to add some stuff to your launch options; you get to this by right clicking on the game and going to properties and then set launch options Here's what I use. -mod=@dayz -nosplash -maxMem=2047 -winxp -cpuCount=5 -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion

What launch options are you useing? This is what I'm using: -mod=@dayz -nosplash -maxMem=2047 -winxp -cpuCount=5 -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion I had the same error till I added the -beta to the launch options and then took the exe from the expansions/beta folder and put it in my main directory.

What speed is your CPU running at If it isn't up to snuff, then there is no way a 6670 is gonna do it on minumum settings.

Yes the 6850 is more than enough; I have played with one and messed around and finally got crossfire for two 6850s to work in this game. You may find your CPU slows you down a bit.

So I'm having an issue. I keep getting this Error: "no entry .profilepathdefault" Which obviously means that it does not see my launch options directing it to the new location/file to use So If I've got my configs and these launch options what am I doing wrong? (the names here are just place holder) The short cut I'm using is for the Beta server Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oaserver.exe" -config=C:\Users\gaming\ArmA 2\server.cfg -cfg=C:\Users\gaming\Documents\ArmA 2\arma2oa.cfg -profiles=C:\Users\gaming\Documents\ArmA 2\profiles.cfg I'm just trying to get a server running before I apply for my own dayz server. PS: Just to be clear, I can host a server and connect/have people connect just fine. I just can't get it to use custom configs.

No they don't but since this is an Alpha you shouldn't get attached to anything you find.

This would be sick; a great and subtle way to attract zombies to campers killing people.

AMD Phenom II x6 1065t @ 4.1 ghz (1.5125v) 4 gb Ram @ 1856 mhz 2 x ATI 6850 in xfire. Play the game on max everything, 60+ FPS on most servers, some servers i can't hit higher than 40 though.

1) It is enabled or disabled depending on the difficulty you play. It's a server side option not a game/mod option at this time. 2) I don't find MP5SD ammo, but I find kobra everywhere. In my experience the ammo you need for your rifle has a higher chance of spawning if you have said rifle in your hands; and the chance of it spawning increased exponentially based on the number of players near by. Of course that whole bit could be in my head. IMO get the silenced weapon next time you get a chance.

I avoid all of the DE servers, I've had issues with 30 specifically; but there are other DE servers which do the same damn thing. Personally FR and most EU servers are the best for connecting and lack of hackers/admin abuse.

No. It would be such a PITA to have to deal with bear defense threads on this forum.
