Respawn at the beach and gear loss
Kaishi replied to gstyle1988@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Just happened to my friend. He kept his ghillie suit. Lost all his gear, he had A LOT of gear and was working on our vehicles / camp at the time. Kind of terrible. -
This just happened to a friend of mine when moving from one known good server to another. He simply spawned on the coast with nothing. No ctrl+alt+delete during load, hive simply forgot about all his gear :(. Lost a TON of gear just now.

Kaishi started following US 353 hackers on bikes., Abandoned camps with lots of weapons and other items, Could use more players on US 1313 and and 1 other

It was north of stary in a field, couple empty tents nearby. Wasn't a fresh spawn, though since it only had soda in it smells legit. It is now exploded, it slid down a 5% grade into a forest. Needless to say attempting to remove it from the forest resulting in an epic explosion and many deaths. There should be a fresh helicopter spawn on the server somewhere since it sploded. How are the vehicles on the us 1313 server, is it spawning cars and stuff? We've put 100's of hours on random servers looking for cars and have never found one at a spawn.

US 1313 is good fun, pretty stable server and no hacks yet. We even found a chopper last night, had 5 cans of coke in it! Score!

I'm looking for reliable information on Vehicle spawns and other information on where where to look for vehicles. My friends and I have spent countless hours searching the spawns on http://dayzdb.com/map across many different servers and have yet to see a vehicle in one of the spawns, we're starting to wonder if we're looking in the wrong place. We've found some other sites that have vehicle information, but they all have different lists and tend to conflict with each other. Does anyone have any experience in finding vehicles or tips on where to look for vehicles? Maybe a site with reliable, accurate information?

Hackers - What you need to know.
Kaishi replied to DarkRaven123's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Nice post, though all this defending of Arma2 by saying it's "designed to be open" I don't buy. Arma2's open nature is why we see such creative and extensive hacks once someone breaks in, which actually are in some ways better than the typical aimbots/wallhacks. But the fact that it is possible at all to cause the *sever* to spawn an item that is not logged is just silly. Trusting the commands of a client are one thing, but trusting the client to do the logging for you is kind of absurd (or lazy). It seems like a sever side fix could be made to actually log what a player does, then you could have server side anti-cheat and now the hackers will only have the standard aimbots/wallhacks that can be done entirely client side. Let's home Arma3/standalone comes out before DayZ dies to the hackers. -
Why can't servers kick players when hacking?
Kaishi replied to Kaishi's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Well, if a program monitors the live server logs, couldn't it via RCon simply kick/ban a player as soon as it sees them do something forbidden? Then the Admins don't have to read through tons of server logs each day, and the hacker will have a limited opportunity to terrorize your server if you happen to not be around. This seems like it would help even well-run servers. -
I've been reading these forums, and a lot of hacks are detected by server logs where a play has an item that isn't allowed, or does something that is not allowed in Dayz. Why can't there be some kind of server plugin or modification that when a player logs in with a non-DayZ item it simply kicks that player? Heck this doesn't even have to be a server plugin, you could write a bot that monitors logs and uses RCon to kick players. I hear there are hacks to prevent stuff from showing up in logs, but at least this would catch some of the hackers. Forgive me if I'm naive, I don't run a server or know much about Arma2 servers.

I've been seeing a lot of hacking on US 353 the last two days. Wednesday 8/1 it was combat boats spawning all over Elektro. Thursday 8/2 after 10pm PST it was someone dropping a crashed helicopter over and over around elektro. I was crawling to the powerstation from the hills (broken leg), after the hacker missed me with the flaming helicopter a couple times he spawned a cop car and ran me over. They then set the sky around elektro on fire. I have been happy about the proliferation of bikes on 353 the last couple days, it's nice to find a bike every now and then and be able to travel faster :)

I typically play on servers without nameplates, is there a way I can get a player's name or report a hacker without being able to see their name? Is there a way to get the name of a player that killed you? I imagine if I report a hacker based on just server # and time of day I'll get yelled at.

The one place where I would draw the line is backpack feeding. When someone stumbles upon a tent and just deletes everything in the tent they don't want that is nothing but griefing. It's fine to steal it if you can carry it, but if you can't carry it just trashing using the backpack bug is lame. If you had a satchel charge I think blowing up the tent would be fine, it's just the using the backpack bug to delete shit is going too far in my opinion.
