I've been having this problem too, not sure why, most servers I go on are getting it, seems to have stopped now though, no idea what I did to make it stop though. sorry. Just know, you're not the only one, me and another friend are getting the same thing happening.

You can connect if you have the IP of the server. All you have to do is go to the server list, and down at the bottom there is a button that says "remote" click that and get the server IP from here

All I can say is something about the boxes. If they are green boxes(They sort of look like ammo crates?), then those are called "loot boxes" spawned in by hackers, they usually have hacked items in them.

Where's the feature where you can drop yourself inside the map and walk around like on Google maps :c ?

Do you have the beta patch? If not, download it. But I believe your problem is caused by not changing the launch options target. Try putting (Without the quotes) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead;Expansion;ca;Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@dayz -nosplash"

Did that and now I'm getting some error about 3D 9?

So my server was 1.6 last night, was playing fine, then today I see they updated to 1.7.1, so I go download the files, then grab the latest beta patch, run it, then try again, and it wont work, it's like the game isn't recognizing the beta patch... in the corner it says the incorrect version, it doesn't match the latest...anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I also tried the six updater, clicked update and it still didn't work.

Having the same issue, I was playing on OHIO 2 with a friend, played for a good 2 hours+ then when we logged out it was all lost, we lost all our shit we gathered, now we're back on top of a hospital with no ammo..

Same issue, hoping a fix is out soon.

It's the 'Enter' key on your numpad, which is located on the right of your keyboard. EDIT: Also, some servers do not offer third person if they're veteran, or the owner turned off the ability to go third person.
